A few weeks ago I got a chance to hike into the Idaho Backcountry to practice some survival skills with Jordan Jonas, ALONE Season 6 winner. Jordan runs a wilderness survival school in the remote Selway Bitterroot Wilderness where he teaches skills like fire making (bow drill friction fire, ferro rod, etc.), wild edible plants, shelter building, primitive fishing, archery, and a lot more. I was only able to tag along for a few days but this video will give you a quick look into some of what the survival course is about. For many of the students it's a once in a lifetime trip!
Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow building, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!
Big thanks to our partners who help support these videos!

I am sure even with decades of experience in the woods I would learn plenty of great things on a trip like that. The patients and genuine care Jordan (and you) showed these folks will pay dividends down the road for teacher and students on how to just be nice humans.

The edibles and fire starting was great. I've found more often than not, hikers fail in making camp correctly and staying warm. Another challenge is keeping gear dry. Keeping food out of sleeping zone. I'd like to see more safety tips too. Thanks for the awesome videos.

So cool! My son told me about Alone during season 6 and I was thrilled to see Jordan win. I started watching season 8 from the beginning and again my favorite won! It would be impossible for me to actually root against anyone but you and Jordan were both the most deserving, without a doubt. I grew up in Appalachia Virginia (Blue Ridge Mountains, the New River) and moved to Tennessee where I married a real outdoor lover. I'm 65 and now prefer the comforts of home, so I live a more exciting life vicariously through others mainly inRU-vidland. Thank you so much💙

This is so good CLAY, the mother bird display is what I have witnessed several times before. one time in particular was a mother timber doodle that jumped up in front of me and gave the display. It took about 3 seconds, then I froze, looked around my feet, then saw a single chic ,alone on the ground, I left the scene immediately. If it weren't for my time in nature, I'd not known what had happened or what to do. This is why many children need to be in nature if possible.

Great video and a twelve mile hike then a six hour drive, I remember when people had to walk ten miles to get to there teammate in season four and your doing twelve like it’s nothing. Although Vancouver islands terrain is more difficult than that but still it took them like a week and your doing that and a six hour drive, you really are one of the toughest people ever on this show

Just an added, helpful comment to those starting with ferro rods … SCRAPE that black coating from the rod itself until you see the actual metal. That coating is a protective & it stops you from getting proper ignition first go. The techniques he’s showing is DEAD ON. But the ferro rod needs to be stripped of that black coating otherwise you’re expending valuable energy trying to get your tinder bundle started.
