I’d be lying if I said me and my wife didn’t get teary eyed watching that finale. You’re the man Clay. Also big hat tip to the family for making it through you being gone.
hay Clay new sub here I like the legacy you are leaving for your boy. I myself do see the mind of you being a former special force and now a contractor I can see your drive so the next time I'm in the keys I try and get you and your family on one of my super yachts for a holiday for you guys we are in the golf of Adin for two more mouths then back to de arm the yachts then I'll get some cruising in might come to the keys or might head home remember one foot in front of the over say safe out there
What a lucky child! Great experiences in building character. He may not appreciate it until he has had a chance to try on his own in the world. Same with your other son!
Clay, I usually get pretty lengthy in discussions...take after my dad I guess. But my wife’s reaction I think can’t be improved upon. She was reading, yet listening to your video. She stopped reading and commented how cool it was about your son’s realization that he made the trek to the lake...”one step at a time”! For a father who has loss a son, I understand the importance of that shared time between a father and a son.
I just started watching Alone for the 1st time ever. Oddly, I have only seen season 8, thus far. Would you believe that I picked you out to be the winner at the very beginning of the season? My intuition is always strong. Anyway, I love the way you and your wife are raising your boys. What a great world we would have if every parent did the same. I’m a biology teacher and can spot good teaching. Kudos to you and your wife. 🙂
Hubby and I just finished watching your season. We picked you out from the beginning and rooted for you the whole way. We got choked up with you in the end! Congratulations! Loving this video of what happened after the show. Thanks for sharing and showing us all your family adventures.
I binged S8 on Netflix and the whole time I'm thinking Clay does NOT sound like he's from Idaho. Kept thinking he's got to have Southern roots. I was right!! Such a cool dude. Inspired me to finally get into archery instead of just watching from afar. Congrats on the win!
Enjoy these days and hikes with your boys. It won’t be long until their legs and lungs will be stronger, last longer than yours. I was a bit sad when it happened with me and my dad. I was much harder hit when it happened with me and my daughters. Time has a way of slipping away. It so good to watch the youngsters grow and progress. Loved this video. Strong work, well done. Kentucky
Clay I have been a fan for a few years , I love traditional and primitive archery and always make sure I include my kids in our adventures I appreciate you teaching your boys and passing along your knowledge. Family is most important and sometimes we just get too busy to see it I inspired by your journey and I started filming me and my sons scouting trips And will try to get better about actually filming some of our hunts , I appreciate the inspiration from you in that direction and keep them coming bud
Just watched season eight and it was incredible! Just wanted to say good job Clay. Way to stick it out I'm very impressive on thinking outside the box and your consultation for surviving. Your family I'm sure are super proud and so am I! Good job bud!
Your boys were the winners of the alone test you just done the work. I'm sure you're very proud of you kids it's always a thrill that they go with you on your hunts. Keep your powder dry
Hey Clay, I’ve been watching your stuff for a long time, and I remember you mentioning you were a wildlife biologist for a while. I’m thinking about pursuing that myself, I was just wondering if you could describe what kind of work you did and how you got to that point, maybe you could make a video on it. Either way thank you for all the teaching and entertainment you’ve produced over the years.
Hey Jack, I was a wildlife Habitat Biologist. I worked with private land owners and other agencies to create or restore habitat for multiple species. It's a great career path. Very rewarding but it doesn't generally pay much. Typically a master's degree is needed.
Great recap. Always enjoy watching your adventures with family. Sometimes makes me wish we did more like you guys. But everyone must make their own, and we have our share. Thanks for sharing yours with us.
Awesome update Clay and family! I wanted to tell you, that I thought your poem at the end the the season on Alone was fantastic. I was really impressed with it. I hope you keep at the poetry, you have a gift!
You guys are absolutely amazing. This brings back memories of when my son was a small kid. I had the unforgettable pleasure of teaching him how to hunt, fish, and definitely how to survive in the woods if anything ever dictated such.
It's so great to see a father raising men to appreciate nature and have respect for it . You are setting the example that more dads need to follow. Your boys are so blessed to have a dad that takes the time and has the patience to teach them skills that will carry them so far in life. You are the real deal Clay Hays and I am a true fan of yours.
Every hunt. When I harvest... I bless that critter for its life. So grateful 🥲 makes me tear up every time. I can feel my grandfather's and uncle's Spirit with me every time. Soon as you laid eyes on that cow.. 😋 hehe the Hunter's breath I call it. I don't get that. I don't know why. My uncle does it my grandfather does it my husband does it. Y'all get so winded and excited it's hilarious. I don't know why, I just don't get your breath. Afterwards I do. From carrying. Haha 😆 First time I met my husband he had just got back from a huge hunt nine Doe. He has a lot to feed in his family. At the time it was 38 of them. Now we're in the upper 48. If my niece delivers before December we'll be @ 49. He said to me, you won't be seeing me this weekend, I have nine deer to dress. Now he's just meeting me so he doesn't know yet. I said well, I'll bring my knives. He said wait, you hunt? I said yes sir, I do. And I can dress my own harvest. I'll help you. That day we processed nine deer in eight and a half hours. Now the first day we hung out. Had a weird dream chanted War Eagle War Eagle. After telling him he looked like a ghost. Psychically I picked up that his whole family went to Auburn but I didn't know this. My dream I was sent through an obstacle course it was very difficult to get through. I did so and my coach tapped my forehead with a bronzed eagle talon. And said you're an eagle now. My husband's thoughts oh my God I'm going to marry this girl. And I'm thinking wait what the heck did I dream. And then I helped him, that weekend. He said my God you came in with your knives all wrapped up in leather you pulled out your sharpening stones. And offered to sharpen mine. My heart skipped a beat. We processed the deer, and no time flat. You even help me finish burger and change up my recipe. Needed more fat. And, he said my God I knew that was the clincher I'm going to marry her.. 🤣😂 and, the first time in a tree with him. 6 weeks later. Silent. He's like you're the first woman I've ever brought on a hunt that can stay silent. I said well you better check behind my hood cuz I might be sleeping. Hahahaha 😆 and no I'm not allowed to talk. So I just shut up. And sleep until you get excited. Hahahahahaha that's a lovely thing about hunting with someone else. You get to relax a little.. hahaha he got a little worried, you're going to get a bigger buck than me and I said nope... Ain't no stress in that. I don't like buck meat. Doe meat I love. I'm not a rack Hunter. Never was. My uncle's do. My pap not. We hunt for doe meat only. When I was younger we would always have chili cook-offs. Or backstrap. They told me I couldn't tell the difference between doe or buck. So I did tourist earn $100 and laid a $100 down. I won $500. yeppers. I have a nose like a bloodhound, and a pallet that matches. As a matter of fact. My husband shot what he thought was a doe. Running around all I could smell is Buck. We're losing the light of day and I'm screaming I smell buck. It's a buck it's a buck and I tripped over it. Yep.. he thought he shot the mama. Nope.. my husband like I can't believe you could smell that. I said yeah and I can taste it too. Literally I'm like a bloodhound. It's definitely weird. Hehehehe 😂😆☝️🧐🐺
You and your family are truly blessed and it's good to see your family being a family, also passing on the traditions and know-how or yesteryear. Have Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing your next adventure as I always do.
Hi, Clayton Hayes. I notice you hunt near Stanley Idaho , I lived in Stanley and also in Garden Valley, Idaho. Live the for 10 years. I shot a huge 6x6 bull elk right behind the airport in Stanley. Those were my hunting grounds. Lots of elk there and I shot one every year. I ordered some Osage to start my bow. I will send you some pictures when completed. Enjoy!!!!!! Francis Wayne Aho
That was quite an adventure and glad you made it home to your wife and sons. You’re teaching your kids good survival lessons. I think everybody should at leasr some of that knowledge. Creator bless your path and congratulations.
Clay, I know I'm late to the game but I don't watch television and just watched your journey on history Channel on RU-vid. Congrats sir. And so happy to see you home with your family. Your a great dad and those boys are lucky to have you. I guess I just wanted to say hello to a man I find inspiring. Not sure if you'll ever actually see this because it's an older video but either way I wish you good health and happiness in the future. And many more adventures with your boys. Well done sir, well done. 👏🏻
I'm happy for you to be able to spend the time with your family you do. I wish everyone would spend more time on raising a family and less time chasing a dollar. I know the money makes it easier, but people seem to like "things" more than they should. We tend to invest more in stuff than in family now days. Love your family.
Cool seeing how your kids when hunting have matured in things like waiting to have the pray come to them or to know distances they can shoot in this year.
congrats from Australia, Clay, you and Roland are 2 of my favourite winners of the US show, ( I am a new die hard fan of the show since we started our own Alone show in Australia ) both excellent hunters and frontier men and stay calm under pressure, Clay, you are a wonderful father and it was touching to see how your love for your boys and family values helped to get you through and you had some wonderful inspiring words of wisdom for us all, your parents must be so proud of you
Sitka Deer on the island in British Columbia... Haida Gwaii Islands. Small deer, perfect for taking the boys. Think you might love the chance to bring them out to BC (near where you did the show)
Home, with your family, right before Christmas, a winner, after 74 days alone, $500k in your pocket, and brand exposure that will carry your business for the rest of your life. That has to be one of the best feelings a man can achieve in this life. Well done Clay.
Clay you are such an inspiration, as a bowyer, hunter, father and man. Hitting home all the way over here in South Africa. Thanks for this great content as always!
Awesome job on your victory.. I wonder a few times were u gonna give in missing your family.. Congrats would love to come see some of your skills one day and learn.. Love the way you train the boyz..
God Bless you and your family Clay, you are raising your boys the right way. They will look back on the memories when Dad took us hunting, fishing, and camping. I really miss my Dad he taught me everything about the outdoors and I impressed him a few times when he said "I've never been able to do that" and it made me proud. A 50 yrd bow shot when I ten ringed a doe in an open field, a 400+ yrd kill shot on a deer under a powerline clear cut. My Dad made all that possible.
I would like to ask you, how do they pick which order they choose the well-check? It could make a big difference in who wins if the next to last is picked. Thank you in advance
You are the man! When you shot that buck, I knew you would win. It was close. I think Biko had some serious fight but came up short due to health reasons.
looks like koa at sugarloaf key lol lol i been ther we built rebuilt the american shoals light house stayed a whole year working on that thing it was made by the spanis in the 1700s we lived on the lighthouse during the work week ten miles out to sea
When I was young I was lucky to spend alot of time jugging, running trautlines, and using bank lines (we called them limb lines) for catfish and then gigging frogs all night for breakfast. I'm guessing you used the catfish for gator bait in addition to eating them.
The most happy and peaceful and meaningful journeys in my life were right beside My Dad! A quiet man who was most content in the midst of his "Family Brood" , a simple man of infinite patience, uncompromising character, an extreme yet unassumingly high intelligent, and a depth of Love and Understanding for His Family and fellow man rarely seen today! A Proud Husband, Father, and US Marine! Till the moment He left to rejoin Our Father in Heaven! We knew we were fortunate to have Him! Love Ya Pop!
I just watched this final episode a bit ago & I gotta say, you had me so teared up. I was so torn between the two final contestants. All through the show I wanted you to win, but then during the final episode, I wanted you AND Biko to win! I cried for him, but then cried for you too. Your joy, & your wifes joy was pretty heavy. You put up an amazing fight. Great show! I'm hooked! 🥰
Youre such an inspirational father Clay. Well done mate. We cant hunt anything with bows here in the UK, but my son (whos 6) and I still shoot our bows as often as we can. I take him out lamping rabbits with our lurchers though, and catapult hunting squirrels. I wish one day to be able to do what youre doing with youre boys, big game and fishing trips. All the best to you and your family.
As I type this I know that you and the boys are on Blackbeard Island where several friends of mine are there hunting also. Wishing all of you the best of good luck with the pigs and deer. Also want to say how much I admire you as a man, father, husband, hunter, entrepreneur, bowyer and more. Truly enjoy following you here, thanks so much!!
I don't understand why you have to kill large games when you pass supermarkets to and from your hike/camp out days! You're not on hungry survival mode, you don't live in a hut, this is not the jungle, nor it is the wagon and prairie times--to kill in modern days, when you are near towns/villages/cities--areas where food is sold--is just for the love of killing. I hate the mind set of "you against nature" because it is everything in and of Nature that preserves your life--not the other way around. No other species on Earth needs the human species for their survival (provided we didn't fuk it up for them first). These types of killing trips are backward minded and bringing up kids with the concept of killing when they don't have to, foster the wrong mind set--for the same reason they/you don't travel with horse and wagons.
Hi Tobe, the “food” at the supermarket is as once alive. Someone had to kill so you could eat it. You too kill animals, it’s just done second hand. You should look at your own impacts to the planet and it’s inhabitants 😉
Clay You’re a wonderful father .Your son so lucky to have you in his life and you are so lucky to have him in your life.Remember the send never falls far from the tree. may God bless you with everything thats positive in your life.Take time when you grow old and gray! his hands on your shoulder and say Do you wanna go fishing with me and my wife Dad and mom to lol and maybe a long awaked grandchild girl or boys .Michigan grandma married 54 years to a outstanding man and father.Work less play more if you can .tell your Beautiful wife dishes can wait. Will have to watch this alone show very soon margieB
Clay, as an old man who realizes that, on his deathbed, he will NOT look back and regret that he did not spend MORE hours at the office, may I say that you are indeed blessed, in so many ways, not the least of which are family, and with good judgment. Were I to have made your choices, I might still have an intact family, perhaps at the expense of the empty triumph of having achieved a respectable leadership position at work, lost it in a layoff, lost my family shortly thereafter, then regained another respectable leadership position at another workplace... but still, cannot replace my family. Good on you, young man!
Loved watching you in season 8, and here. So happy you won, you are the great white hunter! I live in central BC and get in the woods often, I'm going to be watching your vid's 4 sure
You are truly an outstanding father. Your education, skill and mindset are laudable, but the encouragement you give your boys is just a pleasure to watch.
Oh this makes me so happy, I just finished watching your season and wow. You are a true survivor and legend of that show, the love you have for your family is truly beautiful
Working at the Hospital in Middle GA. They gave us incentive pay to do our job. Which I would have done anyway. I used the extra to pay off CCard debt. Something I learned from watching you. I cherish the times I get with my wife and kids. I love watching because you are a family man. Continue to encourage others to do the same. For that is our Future. Thankyou Clan Hayes
Enjoy each and every video. You are 100% right about spending time with family. We should capitalize on every opportunity. If you get anywhere near MSU give me a shout. I am 45 minutes away. Looking forward to the next adventure.
