You might live in the “middle of nowhere” as such but you seem to be right in the midst of a totally dramatic soap opera of nature.. Excellently captured on film again btw. Thank you, this is truly rare footage that none of us would usually witness.
@@RobertEFuller No no thank You! These videos are not what other RU-vidrs tend to post and they are so personal to you and to the content you are sharing. Keep on keeping on its all absolutely fascinating x
I love the part when, confronted with these new creatures, the dad lays the food on his babies like, "I know this is for you. Somehow. Do you...do you eat it? WHERE IS YOUR MOTHER?"
@@RobertEFuller dear Robert, do these birds remember their siblings for life? Like when they are ready to mate, would they know if the other partner is a sibling or not? And also thank you so so so much for these videos. Your voice and the footage are just amazing.
it was a rocky start for Mr. and Mrs. Kes, but I'm happy to hear that a complete batch of new kestrels grew up to be feisty and healthy new hunters. I'm excited to see at least one from these batch returning and starting a life of their own. The couple kestrels did a wonderful job working together and raising all 6 chicks. Also, your efforts has really helped the chicks survive!
Those early attacks on the nest were so scary. I was so relieved that all six chicks were safe and grew to fledging. These parents were awesome in their feeding and protection of the nest……a happy ending indeed!
Well done these kestrel parents. It was such a great job for them that they worked so hard together to protect the six chicks and were able to raise all chicks safely. I always enjoy watching such a wonderful wildlife drama and the environment there through your videos.
Great content Robert. As others have mentioned, I very much enjoy these longer videos, as it feels like a mini-movie and you're invested in the natural progression of nature. Keep up the excellent work.
Well said - the progress of the kestrels with eggs, chicks, etc. is so natural and we are so lucky to watch this what you create with cameras and yourself. Thank you very much! Robert Fuller!
Poor Mrs. Kes! I'd read that she'd had a number of confrontations in the breeding seasons leading up to the current one. But I suspect a confrontation like the one with the Jackdaw would have left deep emotionally traumatic scars on any bird, with or without other serious confrontations before or after. Whatever happened to her this season must have been more than she could face again. Hopefully, she survived and is out there someplace quiet learning how to let it go and start life again.
Kudos for the hard work allowing more of these beautiful raptors to fly the skies of England. Now if someone could replicate this on the other side of the pond!
Female Kestrel: lays eggs, broods, hunts food, has no babysitter, feeds chicks, regularly fights intruders, sacrifices sleep, struggles to keep chicks warm Male Kestrel to new born chick: Eat the lizard
Actually☝️the male and female kestrels take turns hunting and brooding. Though it seems like one is obviously better at handling chicks than the other lol.
Outstanding photography and story telling. I never realised before watching your educational videos how hard it is for raptors to survive and keep their eggs/chicks safe. I had never considered the inter species rivalries and competition for nesting sights. As I said, outstanding thank you.
That was epic buddy!!! Nail biting stuff in the early days and a spot on helping hand when they needed it, well done! Loved that, it was a superb slice of natural history, thanks for sharing their story 😉👌👍 … JP
Totally agree!! Jus love to see how d story of this kestral family unfolded b4 our very eyes. I've watched a few videos on d bald eagles bringing up their brood of only 2-3 chicks, and how brutal those chicks can b to each other, esp d eldest one towards d younger ones at meal times while d parents look on. Yet this kestral mom took care of all 6 chicks with fairness and d chicks didn't try to kill each other! Such wonder!! Tq so much for d show, love and fascinated by it!! 💕💞💕
Those are such great videos!! I usually have a problem keeping the focus on videos longer than 10 minutes but this is so well-paced and narrated that I didn't even realize it was more than 30 minutes long.
Thank you for the beautiful and exciting video that reached me on a sleepless night. You're doing a great job and great videos. Thanks for your work and the help for the animals.
I can't imagine bringing up six kids/teens in a home that's equivalent to a hotel suite. Imagine all the bickering! "Mom, Jenny stepped on my wing!" "She started it! She took my lizard!" "It's not fair! Why can't I go out and hunt like you and Dad do?" The kestrel pair have more patience than I could ever have.
@@RobertEFuller I'm sure it's worth it to see your babies grown up and starting their own lives, though. Thank you for responding and please keep up the great work. The world needs more people like you, people that love and nuture the natural world. I may only be 18, but I want to become a conservationists when I get older. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
I love your videos. They are so interesting and calming. I learn something new while relaxing. I also had to laugh at 15:00 where the male just drops the mouse on top of the chicks. Poor little babies. But he gave his best effort. 😄
This came out just in time for my lunch break! Thank you for another great video. I’m looking forward to seeing all of Apollo’s story too. Thank you for all your hard work you did to show us this!
I have just thought about that litter after the Owls. The Kestrels seem to be more exquisite, and it was so kind of You to clean the place for them, which they appreciated.
It’s crazy to me that you dont have more subscribers, I can’t imagine all the footage and editing you put into each video. Keep up the great work and thank you for making such interesting and amazing videos!
Just discovered your channel, absolutely love this video. My videos are focused on teaching people about wildlife too, and I'd love to have a garden setup like this one day to actually film as nature progresses through the year! Looking forward to going through and seeing what other videos you have!
I love your videos Robert. They're are so well done, well edited and narrated. I love learning about the birds you monitor and help and really enjoy your content. thank you!
OMG Robert this is absolutely outstanding with every emotion being pulled at here. Just love it. The way you portray the unfolding life and possible death story of survival is magnificent. Brutal at times and so so tender at others. Beautifully filmed with loving care and attention from you at all times. Robert you are THE master story teller of wildlife tales par excellence. Cheers mate.👍⭐️
Glad you liked it David kestrels are one of our favourite’s here there is always a story to tell with them as they is always a few twists and turns along the way
Robert, you should win awards for these videos. In certain ways they are better than nature documentaries by BBC and other big corporations. Really, it's because of your commentary, the type of footage, the music and professional video editing. I've never seen documentaries that cover local wildlife activities like this. It's so educational, exciting and fascinating! Plus, you actively help when it's needed. Thank you so much. You are a treasure!
Oh wow Robert that was an amazingly beautiful I loved it how the one backed up to the wall when you put the last one back in it was so cute thanks so much
Passando por aqui pra dar um joinha 👍 e convida um amigo pra plantar uma árvore de preferência frutífera eu já estou plantando as minhas se VC não tiver um terreno plante na beira do riacho
Astonishing work! Thanks for the video Robert, I really enjoyed it, brilliant. So much hard work was put to get this unique footage. All the best in the new season!
I want more of this 30mnts videos! Please make more of this from egg to maturity☺️☺️☺️ I have watched all your vids and it was heartwarming and amazing☺️
Wonderful narration and amazing footage. I was blessed to have a male Kestrel land in my backyard in Las Vegas and take a bath in between my pool and spa waterfall. It took me two hours of research before I found out what kind of bird it was. So beautiful! Lucky me!
24:50 Chicks: "Mommy mommy! You'll never guess what just happened to us!" Mama Kestrel: "Yes, I know. It was the Hand Aliens, they did it to your father and I too. Be glad you weren't born Human, their Alien grabbers don't just ring them....."
That was more high drama and danger than you'd see in most HBO shows, and it's just another day in the life for these birds. Cheers to Mr and Mrs Fotherdale Kestrel for making it through all that with their kids.
@@spiritsjoy They will not be wild. I work at a wildlife centre. We exchange birds with other organisations every year. All legal and guided by professionals. Learning falconry with my employer and we picked the Kestrel as our first bird. These are not pets and should never be bought as one. Also never take an animal out of the wild unless you are willing to take care of it every day for the next 30 years or so.
I really enjoyed watching these kestrel parents raise these beautiful chicks in the live stream what a treat to see the whole story unfold in this wonderful movie! Robert Fuller is many talented and one of them is his talent for story telling. Very funny moments mixed with the scary ones. Thank you R. Fuller for allowing us to peek into these wild lives and thank you for all that you do to help them survive.🤗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It almost feels like all those chicks were eager to tell their mother about what happened to them on ringing day when they got to see her again for the first time afterwards. Lol. "Mum, mum! You'll never believe what happened to us, it was scary!"
This was amazing to watch! Felt really bad for Ghost at the beginning, he was just trying his best T - T Quick question when you were fixing the placement of the egg's I always thought you shouldn't interfere with nature and just let things be. Also, when marking the kestrels has there ever been a time (or with any bird really) where the parent came back and started freaking out cause their kids were gone?
Letting nature take its cause is always a tricky one if I did that there wouldn’t be kestrels chicks most years as there is always battles with jackdaw’s they steal nest sights and smash eggs and with nature not much is natural in the world with a farmed landscape the jackdaw numbers have increased and kestrel numbers have plummeted And Parent birds have a very strong bond to there chicks and the ringing of the chicks is fairly quick I’m done at the nest so there isn’t really a problem the adults come back in once we have gone and feed them as normal
