Surviving The Cold: Part 1: Epic Winter Camping In Algonquin Park 2024

I set up my big homemade hot tent in Algonquin Park and hung out with the amazing friends I've made over the years, camping, during Winter in the Wild on Family Day weekend. Winter has been pretty disappointing, but on this particular long weekend, the temperatures finally dropped below -10ºC and it snowed... a lot! Yay!
Riley Outside and their dog Lyra camped with me, and our friends Jenny and Tyler were just across the camp road, in addition to tonnes of fun outdoors friends in every direction. We made delicious food, visited with lots of delightful people, went for walks and spent some time sliding down our favourite hiking trail, during a huge snow dump. I hope you enjoy this fun adventure! Thanks to everyone who made my weekend better because I got to visit with you, and who took part in the video.

Woohoo!!!!! Hey friend. 😊 You guys are in the video right at the start of part 2! Lol. Your wife was absolutely adorable, and I loved that she didn’t complain or mention how cold she was,even though I could tell she was. She’s a real trooper and she seems like a perfect match for you. I’m so glad I had the chance to meet her, and I wish we would’ve been able to spend some more time together. Hope you guys enjoy part 2. 😊😊😊

Oh the tree's look so pretty with all that snow & very Nice that you have some friends camping around you to visit with . Love the moccasins you made for yourself Jenny you did a nice job. WOW that is cold Christina Yikes. Look's like your having some fun regardless of those cold temps.

It’s awesome to have a gathering of winter camping loving enthusiasts for community time and the chance to learn/see from others set ups. I am jealous of your opportunity for a weekend like this. You should be proud of your home made tent!!! Thanks for your doing what you do!

Thank you. I actually couldn’t get comfortable with it and I was presenting at three spring shows after this weekend so the day I got home from this trip I coloured over it. When I was editing these videos, just last weekend, I was a bit sad because when looking at my hair in the videos, I actually now really like it, lol, but too late now. You're very nice allowing visitors to sit on your cot. I don't think I would want to risk all that extra weight on my cot. I have been in some hot tents where 4 adults have been perched on one cot. That can't be good over the long term?

I have been setting up this big hot tent for visitors since I created it. Part of owning and making a big hot tent was for the purpose of being able to have lots of friends visit and hang out with me inside of it. I have also had four adults sitting on my cot, and I have never had any issues with that. I hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers! 😊

imagine if they did that with other things....like for instance a bottle of pop...put 2 litres on the bottle but only give you 1.75 litres.....would you still buy that? I wouldnt and if more ppl returned the product when they did that , then they would start making them the correct size.

It’s spring soon. Well on the calendar it is but there not quite yet. Everything comes alive in the spring. Lots of wildlife.

so they lie to you about the tarp size to get you to buy it.....personally if its not the right size i would return it.......

I purchased the tarp, knowing the size that it actually is and I don’t have any issues with it. The tarp is great. I’m not sure why you’re focussing on that.. but to each their own. I hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers.
