It's easy to piss on Jess' move to go to rocks when she's the one who got sent home... but what if Brett or Sunday had picked the losing rock? Then it would have been all worth it. It's a gamble - but better to take a risk for a possible reward than cut your own alliance and look like a b*tch in the process. Imagine if Jess HAD flipped her vote - people would be raking her across the coals.
I think what most people are forgetting is that Brett and Sunday were wanting to target Jess. So even if she did flip, then she not only has to worry about the other alliance voting her out but her own alliance members. I think going to rocks and trying to stay in a majority was the best move for her. She just didn't have the luck.
Adam and Hannah both seem like nice people, and are fun characters to watch, but they're both really, really bad at this game. I actually initially thought that when Adam told David to play the idol for Ken after Sunday revealed the plan to him (and Hannah) with zero resistance, it was some sort of ingenious double bluff where Adam was actually with Zeke, and Sunday and him were putting on a show so Adam could use his trust with David to trick him into wasting his idol. Then he started massaging David's shoulder in a weirdly conspicuous way and I thought, "damn, that's some cold-blooded shit." But nope, he got played by Sunday. Sunday ffs.
If Will can stay off the radar of the paranoid players (David, Adam and Hannah) and the mean girls (Zeke and Brett), he could win. I think he is a lot stronger and smarter than he has let on.
BubulleGum They were obviously just over David's whole fake shtick. I was glad they finally called him out, and they weren't that "mean" lol. David didn't seem that bothered by it either, and isn't as fragile as he likes to play
My problem with Bret wasn't that he called David out, which I actually liked because the whole "trust cluster" thing was so annoying. What made me angry was not only calling out Ken for just answering Jeff's question along with him telling Jess that :"I didn't want to go to rocks. Daivd did" after she got eliminated and that is the epitome of bullshit.
I lost a lot of respect for Zeke this episode actually. I don't think David is fake. I feel like he's just genuinely an emotional player. So why kick someone while they're down by saying 'aw what's wrong David? You gonna cry?' completely uncalled for. Wouldn't surprise me if Zeke and Brett decide to take each other to the final two. Bullies stick together after all. They'll be the Jason and Scott from last season XD
They were being petty bullies, and absolute hypocrites as well considering how supportive they were of David's struggles earlier in the episode. It's fine to criticize David and call him out, but they did it in a way that was unnecessarily personal and mean-spirited. There wasn't an ounce of strategy in it.
And Zeke was equally bad, if not worse. I went from loving the two of them after their reward challenge bonding to detesting them within 30 minutes. Just shows you the full range of human behaviour I suppose.
wow. unlike Rob I definitely haven't been over the moon about this season til now, but wow, what a great duo of episode with one of the craziest tribals ever by far.
Question for a Survivor savant: when they have to unanimously choose a contestant to go home to avoid drawing rocks and they can't compromise, are they allowed (as a group) to ask the 2 to just pick a number or draw straws or something like that? And then whoever picks the furthest number or short straw they can then unanimously vote that person out?
I REALLY hope David is NOT next to go home. I like his story of overcoming things and reflecting back on what strides he has made. He reminds me of myself. I am a worry wort. I don't take big chances in fear of failing. And I am a vary anxious person like David.
One theory surrounding Adam in the coming episode. I believe it was Jeremy who intentionally held on to his story until near the end, a move that ultimately won him some emotional jury votes and the game. I wonder if Adam's story (which is absolutely heartbreaking and genuine) could have the same impact on his game, especially if he uses it to qualify stealing the reward. This David/Zeke thing has turned into something epic. Both of them are stellar players, and what I actually enjoy the most about them is that the filter their brilliant moves with some flawed choices. It makes them all the more colourful. Preview for next episode shows Will stepping up to the plate, Brett getting a bit more assertive, and the power game between David and Zeke heating up. And then of course there are the two idols. Can't wait how this all continues to shake down.
Bret feeling a bit too comfortable. His behaviour towards David would not sit well with me if I was in the jury. Adam is a fantastic mess and fun to watch. Already miss Jessica. Hope Will, Ken, David & Jay can "survive" a good long time. This season gets better every episode.
WOWOWOWOW drawing rocks. Unbelievable... did Hannah mean so much? When they drew rocks, I kept praying Jess and I was estatic when she got it. I felt bad when she cried but I really think out of everyone, she was the weakest link. Either that or Hannah should have gone home, so fake at the end... This is a REALLY good season. I cant't remember when I liked a cast so much in the recent years (exception to second chance, ofcourse). Sunday Brett Zeke Adam Will Ken Jessica and Chris are some of my fav players. Michelle was okay too. Wow Brett, never saw that coming and thought this was was pretty good ep for him and Zeke.
Does anyone know if they have assigned seats at Tribal? Do they draw for spots like they do for challenges? This seems to be influencing strategy, so I figured I would ask.

Or...Adam has no clue (well he have been blindsided before). Rob, I always thought of you as an emotional person. You say you are not, but then you say you were heart wrenched by this episode! Stephen, will you marry me? You have to come here to Stockholm though... Great podcast as always... Oh, and the fishy goes to Jay - for sitting through two TC without playing his idol. That was ice strategy at its best.
Hey Rob, I know you're a busy guy but any chance you plan on covering the second season of Westworld? I'm not sure if you've seen it yet but I highly recommend it and think it would be a good show to recap with GOT ending.
i felt jess was pushed into a lose,lose. Since she had shown she was untrustworthy at the start of the game it ruined her outcome of flipping because if she flipped she would be hated by david and ken and she would be on the bottom of zekes side. It would have also made it harder for her to play due to her bad record of flipping so she would hav really rined her alround chances thats where i think going to rocks was probably her best choice however she was just unfortunate and i guess thats just the game.
I wonder if Hannah is going to try and go back to Zeke since David told her the idol was for him and her and then was reluctant to play it for her when she told him she was in trouble but so easily played it for Ken. I also wonder if this is going to be a Med-Evac free season?

On the rewatch (long time later, I know) I'm just realizing the four people on the wrong side of the rock draw Bevan the final four. Does that make it the right move or is that results-oriented thinking?
I was about to give up on this season, thinking it was one of the worst however that episode was incredible and I am still confused because so much happened! Amazing! Gained and then lost a large amount respect for Zeke! Can't wait to see what happens next week now!
Am I the only one who sees through David? It's not that I don't like him, but he's been running major game this whole show, from his overly dramatized neurotic persona to his "anxiety problems" and supposed no self belief. It feels like he's studied the show enough to realize the producers want to see a certain type of character arc and he's playing it to a T. I'm kinda glad the other cast mates called out his fakeness during tribal! And I'm calling it now, I think Jay's gonna win the whole thing! That guy's a lot deeper & smarter than he lets on imo and is the dark horse

Your podcast is getting harder to listen to. this one is all over the map - starting from rocks when it was at the end of the two hours. People are rude this season as well - did you not see Brent at tribal? Also definitely not all "rootable players" left Also Stephen is not a know-it-all. I watched him play twice and it was not impressive...... I am bored working / this is not helping.
I actually still kinda root for everybody (even Jay because how he managed to get through without playing his idol), gotta re-listen that second tribal but I feel like people get really oversensitive about everything, including what Brett was saying, c'mon, it was mean but everybody's still playing a game at tribal!
