The best part of David's fake idol was that it prevented Jay from continuing to search for the real one. Sure, it made Jay feel safe, but he was going to go home anyway. Imagine if Jay continues to search and finds the one Adam found at F5...
Exactly. David's trick had a bigger impact than I think Jay cares to admit. Idk, maybe that sort of game play is a little too savage for my liking, but I sort of gave up on David after that move.
The thing I find strange about this is that the "edit" doesn't show David looking for the real idol at all. Maybe he was looking for it frantically but it didn't come through in the show.
I think Ken and Hannah lost because they were seen as followers. I was very impressed by Hannah at tribal, I think she may have also had a bit of jury problem. I actually liked that she was interrupting, though she should have interrupted Chris and said "I turned Ken!"
I don't think a lot of jury members realize just how much hidden influence Hannah really had. She really did play a good game. Many times others would come to her desperate and she'd ensure their safety (including Adam). I was impressed by her many times.
+BubulleGum How were they not good decisions if they resulted in EXACTLY what she wanted? (Her desired final three). Her only downfall was that no one noticed her pulling strings. For example I was kinda surprised the jury seemed to think Adam was responsible for Ken blindsiding David. It's as if it didn't even OCCUR to them Hannah was involved in any of that when she knew that was something she had to do eventually and she even did the dirty work in the end having to literally talk to Ken about it. (Not saying Ken wouldn't have come to this conclusion himself.) I understand Adam also got his desired final three too, that was their plan together all along. And I'm not saying Hannah played a better game than Adam, I'm just saying I believe she was underestimated by the jury.
But she had no chance of winning the final 3 she wanted, her mistake was not realising that. She took out one of the few player she had a chance to beat (Sunday). And she took the risk to keep David until F4, even though she really didn't want to go to the end with him, risking him winning the final immunity challenge or Ken not voting him out. And this is only speculation, but i really think that she got a really good edit so that we wouldn't know Adam would win by a landslide at FTC. That's the feeling i have when i watch "The jury speaks" and the different interviews.
Since Hannah put most of the people on the jury they did not vote for her. She came off strong when she made her pitch why she should win. It did not help that Adam said his Mom had cancer. I wonder how the vote would have changed. I am surprised the vote was unanimous.....
Sophie brought up a good point. Even though many people (me included) would have loved to see David get to the end, his story peeked too early. I was rooting for David from episode three on.
You said that Adam might have been benefited from failing constantly in voting David out. Would you compare that to Sandra on Heroes vs Villains, where she was attempting to vote out Russel, therefore, "being on the Heroes side"?
Adam would've won without his "sob story" but without the "sob story" he wouldn't have won unanimously. I think Sophie is right, at the beginning of final tribal I thought Ken would win but towards the end (even before he said his mom had cancer) you could feel that Adam was going to win. That's my opinion on it.
I wanted Ken to win out of the final 3, I'm not bitter that he lost. I am bitter however that it was unanimous and that people seem to be mocking the guy calling him a "moron" etc.. I wouldn't say Ken was robbed because even without the mentioning of Adams mother he probably would have received max 3 votes.. But he should be more appreciated as a competitor and as a good man.
CALcasts ITA. I think he played a decent game and won a lot of comps when he needed to and managed to stay loyal but cut David when he needed to. I think his personality just rubbed most of the other contestants the wrong way. If he was more easygoing and likable, guaranteed he would've won (or got at least a few votes)
Sorry, Ken played a horrible game. hes a nice person with a good heart, he is a very bad survivor player ( if you look at all aspects, not just challenge performance ) he almost cost his entire alliance to lose the game by "testing" will, the guys they needed to vote with them. he made 0 moves in the entire game, and no one seemed to like him because of his holier then christ attitude, he was never going to win the game nor should he win the game I'm sad Hanna got no votes, sucks to put her and ken on the same playing field
For those saying Adam is one of the worst winners ever... Chris defended him even before Adam divulged his sob story. Also, Jay respected him even before the hammock scene. I think others already wanted to vote for him as the sole survivor, except jessica and david, maybe. He clearly is the sole survivor regardless of the sob story. HE may not have won unanimously without it, but he would still win. That's the reason why it's one of the best seasons ever.
JessMan508 well he could've! He already repeated a couple of times how Dave has been thr biggest threat of thie game. He was clear about that and even said that in front of Dave and Ken right after the boot of Bret. Clearly, he started convincing him.
It's hard to say completely who was most in control due to editing but you have to admit that the jury was oblivious to Hannah's influence in the game. With that whole "turning Ken against Dave thing" it was as though it didn't even OCCUR to the jury that Hannah had any involvement in that. When she very much did. She knew it was something she had to do and she even did the dirty work by literally having to give the talk to Ken. A bold move.
Agreed. It solidified his trust with Jess and he gained numbers on the gen x tribe. It was David, Ken, Jess and Cece against Chris, Brett and Sunday. And of course, he found an idol the very next day
@@mkwhacker100 And the longevity they both got out of it was massive. David was a favorite to win, and Jess probably would have made it quite a bit further if Zeke's alliance got the wrong end of the rock draw.
Congrats to Adam! I wanted Jay to win, but Adam played a good game and the story of his mom touched my cold heart. On another note, the whole "journey" thing they had going on this season is so dumb and got on my nerves, did we really have to hear these contestants stories of how they went from social misfits to feeling oh so strong and confident? Like Lol cmon! No one cares, just play the game...I hope this isn't a new trend, I see enough of that crap on other shows.
ElSpewtardo I know they do it every season, but it's usually more low key. This season they were knocking us over the head with it. Like, this is Survivor, not Oprah!
I thought the final three would address the jury first but apparently they skiped that this season. LOVED this season! LOVED Will all through the season + Ponderosa and happy that Adam won!
Overall im NOT as high on this season as everyone else (mainly because of the whole lack of women thing and michaela getting robbed) but goTDAMN that was a great finale and the next season has me absolutely SHOOK. TEAM CIRIE ALL DAYY HUNTYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Ken is great as a person but he didnt play all that well. he is one alpha male that i actually like but he didnt play better than adsm or David. no way he should have won having adam or David there. the only f3 for Ken to win was Hannah and Bret.
Even in that scenario, Bret wins. Ken wasn't liked at all and the jury was entirely made of survivor fans who respect good gameplay more than being good at challenges and providing for the tribe.
but what move, big or small, bret did? im not so sure people would vote for bret that easily. maybe stupid people like Chris and sunday would but the rest? Taylor Michelle Jay, zeke, david? im not so sure. possible but unlikely imho
Well what i got from all the interviews is that Ken and Hannah had very little chance to win against pretty much anybody. I don't think the jury was bitter but i do think they were pretty frustrated by Hannah and Ken not voting against the obvious threat sooner and they disagreed with a lot of their decision. (Testing Will, voting out Sunday...)
I was surprised at how well Hannah represented herself at the final tribal council though. She had more influence throughout the game than I realized. I'd vote for her over Bret or Ken, easily.
The next season is gonna be Epic! Great cast IMO. And can we (ladies) take a moment to thank the Survivor gods for another season of Malcolm? I mean...He's kinda fun to look at Lol.
***** Yes ... just look up the cast on google ... and guess what, Russel Hantz isn't lool .. I guess he didn't change the game enough, but Zeke and Michaela did lool .. he said on twitter they didin't even call him ...
***** I like Jay, but he is not a "game changer" ... they are putting legends next to mediocre players, guess what will happen ? and who is gonna go first ? some bad choices there ...
***** no I think he has issues with Probst ... look at his twitter account ... you can't talk about too many times when You have Ozzy in the show next time ..
Ok I did some looking around and now I get it ! why there was no russel hantz etc .. Basically the concept of "Game changers" wasn't the initial concept .. they had something else in mind, and they couldn't assemble all the people they wanted, so the "game changers" was slapped on top last minute ..... Ozzy and Caleb are challenge beasts .. would be awesome to watch !
I am delighted to see Adam win. I would also have been happy with David or Jay. All three were lovely people who played survivor as it should be played. As great and compelling as Adam's story was, it worries me that Jeremy has started a dangerous trend with his sob story nonsense in season 31. I don't want to see jury's swayed from intelligent verdicts by this pulling on the heartstrings psychological manipulation. Once again, I don't blame Adam for copying the idea, as his story was legitimate. He was also the best player of the 3 in the final. Jeremy, on the other hand, has a lot to answer for. He beat Spencer and Tasha, who played better games, in a manner which was most unpalatable.
Ken played a clean loyal game up until the end. I feel like a combination of wins in challenges and loyalty got him far. Also he was aligned with help. Adam always had bigger threats ahead of him, found a immunity and won a challenge. My biggest problem with the jury is that they were all bitter because Ken never got blood on his hands. Also Adam and his mom being sick played apart as well. I feel like Ken deserved to win because he played a better game and got the bigger threat out at the end.
I agree! I was kind of shocked in a way that he wasn't as vocal. I think he realized that he didn't have a shot once the jurors were asking the other two questions instead of him. I would like to see him have another opportunity on the show again.
The final tribal councils have just become boring. I fast forward through to the vote just to confirm what we already know. With that being said, I am surprised that Hannah didn't get a single vote. The show has become whatever people think "gameplay" is and getting to the final group is not even rewarded now while getting voted out for making a "risky" move is.
For anyone wanting to know the cast for season 34 it has already been released, here it is for anyone who want to see it SPOILER ALERT Sandra(7,20) Jt(18,20) Jeff Varner (2,31) Troyzan (24) Cierra (27,31) Caleb (32) Debie (32) Tai (32) Aubrey (32) Malcom (25,26) Andrea (22, 26) Zeke (33) Michela (33) Tony (27) Sarah (27) Cirie (12,16,20) Ozzy (13,16,23) Halie (30) Sierra (30) Brad Culpeper (27) *sorry in advance for misspelling some of their names
Adam won? Over Ken and Hannah? I fell asleep, again. I was awake when Ken voted out David. I guess that was a mistake? Ken is already a winner and he knew it from the beginning. Money ain't shit.
again, so what? Pitty is a human emotion, you win out of pitty you technically got people to pitty you enough to give you the million. Also he was winning regardless.
Okay answer this then, if CBS was truly able to rig a season, why would they rig it for Adam who even though I like him is not the most exciting winner. Why wouldnt they rig it for someone else? Why would production do that? They wouldn't is the answer, Adam won because the jury liked his game best. End of discussion.
nah I disagree. I actually don't feel like anyone was robbed.. and I feel like the losing finalists weren't too bad either. but I think it came down to Ken being a bit too holier than thou and Hannah too all over the place, Adam seemed just the most solid overall, Hannah and Ken would have needed a Kristie-level performance to sway the jury. PS: can't wait for S34:-) I'm glad after Worlds Apard Jeff hasn't been overhyping past seasons and now I actually believe him it's gonna be great. genuinely stoked to see Sandra and Cirie.
Stephen's contrast of Ken and Michelle being similar MAKES NO SENSE... so dumb.. I like watching the BB podcast more because he is not on it Also this game changers season, just call it popular returning players that make good TV are back because Haily and Sierra from Wolrds Apart were not game changers. Im sorry but JT may have played a flawless game the first time, but the second time he handed russell and idol with a love note that was used to vote himself out...
Aradna Gulati it was a terrible moved but I did change the game in the balance of villains and Heros demise so he falls into the bracket maybe more dumb move but definitely effected outcome
if you watch the jury speaks videos, almost everyone was going to vote for Adam even before the FTC and only Jay knew about the mother at that point, so no, Adam won because of the gameplay, not because of the story.
At the risk of sounding heartless, the producers should never have allowed Adam to play this season with his mom dying, that was a huge unfair advantage at final tribal. You could see the shock on Hannah's face as she realized her chances had just turned to toast, at the last moment. It was very exploitative of the producers (but they did get a dramatically emotional finish beyond their wildest dreams). And you could see they were concerned about this impression, by the way Jeff went out of his way to stress that Adam was invited before they learned of the terminal cancer. But they should have asked him to postpone. Personally I thought he deserved to win over Hannah and Ken, but that's beside the point: he might also have defeated David with that last-minute revelation.
Do you realize how fucking crazy that sounds. NO ONE WITH PERSONAL TRAGEDY CAN PLAY SURVIVOR. Jesus Christ HE WAS GOING TO WIN REGARDLESS. Why can't people get that.
I did not say no one with personal tragedy can play Survivor. It's a question of the degree/nature/timing of the tragedy, particularly the timing. The producers should have pushed Adam forward to the next season.
That still makes no sense. People are people, let people be people with histories. He also didn't win because of his story at all. Also in your line of thinking he still had to actually get to the final three which is no small feat. If it was next season you'd be complaining he talked about how his mom just recently died of cancer. Your argument has no logic to it.
Each jury member was thinking "Well I don't want to be remembered as the one who didn't vote for the guy with the dying mum". They were all sucked in by the blubber-boy. Talk about using your dying mother as a "special advantage" card to play at the last minute (strategically) JUST before the jury votes. Ken was ten times more deserving.
Overall, a pretty boring season. Usually can't wait for the next episode but not this time. Once Michaela left the cupboard was pretty much bare. David and Jay were ok. Adam was a scheming, untrustworthy little flea-bag all the way through. Couldn't believe he wasn't ditched very early in.
I don't know why Probst says and thinks this was one of the best seasons ever. I feel awful that Adam lost his mother to cancer, but in no way was he a "great" player in SURVIVOR. It was a very whiny season... and nobody really played an amazing game - a ton of bluders made by many... misplaying of idols left and right - and despite the praise, I found this cast to be unlikable.
Not a "hater" - my honest opinion. I love SURVIVOR - have seen every episode, every season... I give "love" to many seasons and players... just because I happen to point out that it was a weak winner and season, does not qualify me as a "hater." With all of the idols played - not one was used successfully - that is just one of the blunders that were made this season.
Nick Jasper sorry im just referring to you as a hater for this season and not in general. for me what makes this season successful was the casting, for you its unlikeable, but most of them has storyline, amazing background and a lot od them were considered threats
All the "whining" was such raw emotions. I mean, that scene with Adam and Jay on the hammock just capped off one of the most developed relationships in survivor history. Every single person were huge super fans and were playing a top tier game. Every misplayed idol was understandable. David had to play it for somebody when they drew rocks and the name he heard was Ken. There was no way Adam could 100% trust Will, so he played it for Hannah. There's no way Jay could take that chance of not playing the idol at F7 and F5 was the last time Adam could play that final idol. Every single cast member was so genuine and nice and whether you supported some of their decisions or not, everyone played to their full potential. And with crazy rivalries, awesome personalities and relationships, and epic blindsides this was most definitely one of the best seasons
Adam didn't deserve to win because he played the sympathy card it wasn't about who the best survival was it was about Adam crying and talking about his mom I feel sorry for his mom I'll pray for his mom Adam was not the best player
Claudia Sanchez While he played a good game. People fail to see that Hannah played a very underrated game. Hannah had full control of the game since Zeke's elimination. Was in the majority of the votes in every tribal she was in except for Michaela's which is an amazing feat. I see the Brett move as a good move for her game as Brett most likely take Adam and Ken over her and Brett's elimination ensured her a final 3 spot as David and Adam would try to take each other out in the final 4. Not to mention if anyone flipped Ken it was her. She played a pretty great game but people just didn't see it.
But showing that you deserve to win is also part of the game. If she could have articulated that, she could have gotten some votes. But, I still think Adam would have won.
For the last time if you win over the jury, you win survivor. That's the game, get to the end however you can and then make the case to get people who LOST to vote for you. Survivor is a game about PEOPLE not chess that's why its such a great show. Adam's story whether you call it strategy or not helps convince people to vote for him. PLUS the Jury didn't respect Hannah or Ken so he would have won regardless.
Rob, you're getting too fancy with the red carpet stuff. Stick with your bread and butter. If you depart too much from the great formula you have, I'm gonna depart from you're podcast.
That's bullshit. She played an awesome game. Most people just don't like her because Ozzy didn't win. She kicked his ass in a challenge he won in a previous season. They set that up for him to win, and he STILL lost.
