Watching this on the couch because the wife's kicked me out of bed I'm eating pop tarts and cheese and I'm not sure I'm gonna make it until morning, I can't make a fire and I'm desperately low on beer. Tell my dog I love him x
Zach Rozema The fact that he fakes his show, basically letting people think he is teaching them useful stuff, makes him a fraud in my eyes. If he’s a real survivalist, a good one, why not teach that!? Why bullshit people when it’s not even necessary? Because greed, that’s why. He’s not interested in teaching people, he wants popularity and money.
Awohp Doesn’t change the fact that his show is legendary fraudulent. It’s a shame. He’s the real deal, so why bullshit people? He shoulda kept it real. Teaching people wrong shit could put people in danger. Maybe even get them killed. That’s why I have zero respect for this man. Greedy liar, is what he is.
I love when Stroud starts to lose it at the cameras throwing a fit from hunger. Im glad he kept that in the final cut. Thats the first time I've seen him lose his mind.
@@TheRealJaded It doesn't take an expert survivalist to know how much meat is on a bird dude. If you've ever eaten wild bird you'll know that even on an adult bird, there's not a ton of usable meat. A teaspoon isn't an exaggeration.
@@TheRealJaded he's not wrong. I actually do live in the wild and I can tell you for sure birds arent worth eating. More over those that are big enough to eat generally taste bad
I love that you left the bloopers in from before the fish meal. There is something comforting about watching a normal human on TV instead of another game-show style host.
years before i lost my younger brother to a heroin overdose, he and I were HUGE fans of your Les. This show used to be on Discovery Channel back in the day and that's how we discovered it. I can't tell you how happy I am to have found you on RU-vid. It's like getting a small piece of those days with my brother back into my life, so thank you.
I lost my mother my uncle and watched my dad trurm blue whike I was giving him cpr till ambulance came. All heroin/fentenayl overdosed I feel your pain brother it's hard but they are all in a better place amd not suffering addiction anymore. Stay strong and if you ever need to talk I will listen to you man I know what it's like. How long has it been? My mom is going on n 3 year my uncle 4 and my dad is now on methamphetamine
@@abrahamwashington8579 are you serious??? This isn’t a contest how can one person be so dense??? I’m sorry you lost your family members but what he said CLEARLY went over your head cause he wasn’t actually telling you it hurts more then you think lolol🤦🤦🤦🤦 uhhh some people I swear
@@johnquest1044 I live in the Colorado Rockies now. I have lived in Northern Ohio and I prefer it over Georgia. The humidity is what I dislike the most. And I love the cold.
@@tjgordon5 We only get 86 days of full sun 🌞 a year, that's terrible. I like the seasons, but unbelievable short days an dark in winter isnt good for humans ha. I could do without the cold! Had it my whole life.
@@derekolivas6943 dual survival was faked big time and closer to bear grills, I enjoyed both of those shows but les teaches you more and you get to see the real experience where he’s actually going hungry and being effected by it.
The nice thing about Colorado is that if you keep moving down, follow water, you'll eventually hit a road or find people. Unless your leg is disabled and you're in the deepest of the deep wilderness areas it's sort of hard to find yourself in a survival situation aside from somehow being stranded in the worst winter days. There's just too many roads and people moving about.
@Dick Dastardly lmao yeah pretty sure that would have ruined one of my fave shows growing up.. and still. Les is one of the few people that everyone loves from older TV, most have come out to be terrible people by now
Les really never killed anything unless he absolutely needed to he’s not really like other survivors which is what set him apart instead of teaching how to kill everything he gave us knowledge of the plants we could possibly use and better ways around hunting
I really love that when he finds animals to eat, he doesn’t always go for the kill. He could have ate those baby birds, but he’d rather let them live. Partly because they wouldn’t provide a ton of calories anyways, and also because he’s just a good friendly Canadian.🇨🇦
what Ive really come to appreciate about Les' videos is that he is always respectful to the environment he is in, and gives advice on how to migitate any damage one's prescence could cause (such as when he kicked away the horse manure to protect the native vegetation). No killing small animals for shock value, no overdramatic narration or obnoxious sound effects, just an expert sharing his knowledge with the world.
@@TheRealJaded 1) its a show, and not a real survival situation. of course i dont mean its shock value when actual people are surviving an extreme situation in reality, and i dont see how a reasonable person could read it that way. really don't get why youre getting agitated. 2) ive watched other survival shows where the producers clearly cared more about "gross out" content to draw an audience, including the host hunting & killing animals despite not needing to. les does hunt in his show but it never feels like hes doing it for the camera alone, unlike those other shows. all i said was that i appreciate les' respect for the environments he is in, including the animals native to it and doesnt just see them as disposable/food. 3) if a youtube comment with 5 likes makes you that pissy, maybe you should go outside some more
@@TheRealJaded he’s fully aware, les has said in many episodes he would and could hunt small game or anything available if he was in a dangerous survival situation and advised anyone to do the same if they could!
Les is the only man brave and/or smart enough to film an episode in the colorado rockies. It's the only place I've ever been that seems so easy to survive until you try to do it....
Never mind your survival skills (and sheer experience), your way of shooting things truly captures the environments you're in. You get a sense of scope, of size, of angles, makes me feel like I'm there.
Oh, my beautiful, beloved Colorado. I’m a native and love to hike, backpack, and camp in the Rockies. Would be nice to have horses to carry the gear! 😊❤🐴
I love Colorado so much. Some of the best memories of my life when I lived there. I always dream of going back. Theres nothing like the feeling it gives you being surrounded by such breath taking mountains and openness. Love your work man so cool you uploaded all these episodes!!!!
I know nothing about horses, so it was a surprise to me to see just how much more complicated having two horses in survival actually is. Very interesting!
No, they really are a pain in the ass. They are only calm and cool and always do what they’re told when you’re trying to make it cool for tv. That’s why we mostly use atvs on the ranch now.
@@NicholasAdeptus Well I own a horse and what you explained is the opposite of what my horse is like so it sounds like you know nothing but go crawl back underneath your rock
I Wana see a survivor show where nothing goes your way. Every show dude makes fire and does good. I Wana see a regular city dude out there failing at everything.
Cow paddy is the best fire carry you can get. My family immigrated from Ireland in 76 with no money. I lived the first 8 years of my life living off the land in the Canadian Rockies (near BC/Alberta border) . Learnt how to hunt, fish, make and set traps, start fires with sticks etc. It was the best 8 years of my life.
I'm sure it was just a slip of the tongue or something but it was kind of funny when the accomplished outdoorsman and expert wilderness survivor called the pronghorn antelope a deer. Love you Les!
I’m in CA and I’ve spent a lot of time camping in the sierras. I’ve seen more black bears than I can count, but only one mountain lion. I’m glad I was in a huge group when I encountered the mountain lion. Cougar roars sound silly when you hear a recording, but when you see one making that noise, there’s nothing scarier.
They’re 5 second videos it’s much better than watching it on TV and plus it’s free unlike other shows on YT that charge. I’m not trying to be a dick but you sound a bit whiny 😫. With all do respect 🤣
When you open the video skip through the video in front of each individual ad. Takes 10 or so seconds and you will probably only actually have to watch 1 ad. After that you can watch the whole video in peace.
22:30 how to make fire by breaking a flashlight 🔦, 30:20 Jardia and Cryptosporidium from dirty Colorado water. 34:49 Fly fishing hahaha. 38:30 nice Guitar 🎸 music 42:10 nice music and an epic horse shot.
Top of a barren ridge during lightning is a good way to get dead, even if you are on a sleeping pad. Here in CO, around noon in spring/summer it will rain in the hills. Good to get low, put up a tarp and let it pass.
I was born in Denver and long for the mountains. Really enjoyed watching your adventure. I would have to be starving to eat raw 🐟 fish. Thanks for the survival tips. Ms Pat from southern Indiana
I may make jokes on Canadians.... But you sir, you’re are a legend. Lol Been watching these videos for damn near 20 years.... man I feel old now... lol
Taking Les Stroud survival advice: Better odds of you making it. Taking Bear Grylls survival advice: Better odds of you dying. Les: Real survivalist. Bear: Actor.
I agree with those statements that he's more of an actor in the sense of that it's all scripted but he's still an ex- SAS. That's nothing to scoff at! So I would say alittle more than an actor but nothing close to our Les experience and skill in surviving.
That would be awesome man beautiful place and being stuck in jersey rn when i planned a trip to the great sand dunes this week i would kill to be in Colorado.
Watching u sense the beginning les and im so happy u up loaded your stuff. I always wanted u to come were I live in Newfoundland. Its June here and some days are rain and 12 degrees others are 25 & sun, spring or fall would really challenge or skills if u filmed here. Then again u seem to excel in colder weather
thanks for putting these up les really enjoying them! inspired me to get out in the woods and get some practice in.... got a nice new shelter/ camp now :)
It pains me when I have to see him in every episode having to deal with those massive cameras If this was made today he can have a nice bag full of phones that basically shoot the exact same way In this he could have had just the one horse no problem
Love Les but he made a small mistake. He mentions giardia a number of times throughout this episode and that you can get it even by bathing or washing in the waters. He ate fresh fish raw which is really a bad idea considering the fish live in the waters he spoke of.
I live in the Montana Rockies. People think I'm crazy but even if it's just a day trip to the local campground or the lake I just have to bring food, survival kit, shelter pak, first aid kit, more food, water, water treatment stuff, extra socks and clothes, hatchet, cold weather gear/ wet weather gear, fire starter and tinder, personal appearance kit, tarp, poncho, multitool, rifle, extra ammo and cleaning kit, snacks and beverage powders, towel (large enough to be a blanket), compass, shemagh, a good knife, knife sharpener, can opener, signal mirror, flares, and e-tool. the funny thing is that I think they're all crazy for not bringing at least some of those things.
Flint and Remington, .. Great names for horses. You looked a lot more at home on this one, ..except for you're kitchen nightmare moment. :) Cheers les.
I normally don’t criticize Les Stroud but in this episode he could have tried to rub Dandelion juice onto the Horses 🐎 backs to ward off the Mosquitoes eating them alive. That would have been good. This is the first time I found that he fell short a bit. The horses are important and need protection.
I was searching for a comment like this! Thank-you for caring. I have gone out bush solo before too and the animals are my first priority, always. Because if you lose them, you're fkd. So many natural bug repellents out there and appreciate his work, dude is badass, and respect for leaving the baby birds, but yeah need to protect the animals better. A simple oversight makes the world of difference for them. Take care mate (sorry I know this is old, just really valued your advice and concern for the horses 👍)
@@by2083 he's doing 2 one is about how to prep wild edibles with you meals and the other is how to survive worst case weather like flash floods and so on while lost.
I've got a reasonable amount of outdoors experience, but I still shudder at the thought of sleeping out in the open without a tent or shelter. Just too many creatures that can waltz right up to you.
Tour Sasquatch information is fascinating. My brother waited 25 years to tell me he saw one. It looked down on him in his tent. He got a good look at it.
thanks Les. For putting all these on here. Great show and i miss seeing new stuff from you. You should see if Joe Rogan will get you on his show! Im sure there is a lot to talk about :) also watching this show called alone.. i feel like you'd win it if you were on lol
