Very impressive restoration. I learned a lot from it. Without any previous experience I used a similar technique to remove the glass on a wrought iron frame on a stained glass window I have been trusted to restore from my church, I will use the procedures learned here to proceed and will post the video when completed.

That was weird... I would never "glue" glass; no matter what glue you're using! I see very few types of glass in this old window that aren't readily available today. The yellow gold glass is "cathedral", and I'm certain I still have some in my workshop. It's easier to just cut a replacement piece, and infinitely more permanent. That said, the window looks great, and I watched this video because I'm pretty sure I've seen this church here in NJ years ago.

You used regular glazing compound for edge where it meets the frame? I have a transom and it needs reglazed. I thought cement had to be used?

Beautiful work! Why did you use copper foil around some pieces even though they fit into the lead came?

Wish you would have told us what you soak the glass in, just water? What was your cleaner thank you

Deirdre McAdams just a guess, but I would think somewhere between 80-100 hours and cost somewhere between $3 to 5 thousand dollars.

Hi ! Wonderful and very instructive video, thank you so much for sharing your methods. The stained glass window is magnificent too ! I have two questions : Why did you tape the repaired piece of glass before adding it the lead rod when reassembled ? Also, what did you use to repaired the broken glass ? It first looked like glaze but it looks much stickier... and there was a mysterious black paste added to the broken piece ? Thank you so much !!!

I just noticed you installed the bottom in backwards since you can not read it from the inside through the stairs so it must be meant to be read from the outside and you installed it to read of a tribute to a former pastor where no one can read it. Did the church really have you install it this way?

Davie Jones If you pay attention around 24 seconds in during the removal the glasd was originally installed with the text readable inside the building. My guess is this was on purpose as the meaning is there for those willing to look but does not hinder the passersby from enjoying the overall design.

@@Luckingsworth / Davie Jones, interesting observation, but I watched the beginning again on removal, and the end on re-installation. You can see that the window is the same.
