just a note for the constructs in the mage tower, there are books to be read in the tower that make them entirely non-hostile. for those who would rather not murder everything they meet

Fun fact! If you read a note in the tower (I think it's on the same table as the githyanki cipher, on the floor that looks like living quarters) you can get bernard(?) to give you a hug. So uhh... yeah.

Worth mentioning that the Mundane Chest is pretty special. You can throw loot in there and it will turn the loot into lower weight items, so you can send all your loot to this chest. Then you remove the stuff when at a vendor and sell it all.

This chest does have a limit of around ~150 items, but it should be more than enough.

Used 1 Sussur Bloom for the Arcane Tower and sent the other 4 back to camp. Back at camp, opened the blooms, they turned to withered petals. That allowed them to stack. Then I split the stack of 4 into singles and all but one of the petals turned back into blooms. But they've lost the magic debuff. They're currently decorating the campsite.

FYI, respeccing withered all of my Sussur Blooms, even though I was in camp in the Underdark. I would guess that the character creation screen actually physically moves them somewhere.

There is a video where someone reverse pickpockets Balthazar by the night song with the bloom as well. It’s ridiculous. Balthazar can’t cast any of his spells . Very creative

That was not a Sussur Bloom, it's the Noblestalk Mushroom. You either sell it to her, give it to her husband to eat to restore his broken mind, or to Shadowheart to eat to restore one of her memories. It's no use giving it to SH in act 3 it'll do nothing, whatever you do, you have to make the choice in act 1.

I thank the devs so much for this mechanic. In the beginning esp when I was broke and didn’t know what anything was I would sell everything to the Druid guy and thank GOD he still had it when I remembered I needed it or could buy it back once I had some more gold. The tieflings Mol and Dammon I traded with still have stuff I’m curious to see if they still have when we meet again later. I’m sure they will.

Definitely makes a full martial playthrough much more viable. Neat answer to mages and can probably help trivialize a ton of boss encounters in the full game

the blooms turn into ashesh when you leave the underdark, so they are only usefull there.

I just have the flowers in my camp box and they have held up well. I was also going to use them in this fashion to drop near a tough opponent but hadn't needed it yet. Figured it would work. Glad to hear it does.

Interesting, I am at this point of the game right now, so I will definitely keep an eye out for the blooms, thanks for the video. I would also use bags to sort my inventory, but I just send everything to camp, so the only thing I ever carry on me is the the key bag, potions, ingredient bag, camp supplies and gold 😅

The coolest thing about this I think, is that there are alternative ways to use the bloom to get in that tower. No fighting required. Haha

You can also use it to access some vaults in the Counting House in Baldur's Gate (you still need to lockpick those vaults).

Has anyone tried to attack Antie Ethel in her Teahouse with a Sussur Bloom nearby? That might keep her from casting spells and zipping away to her lair. Forcing her to stand and fight, as well as being subject to opportunity attacks, could make that fight much easier.

Sadly the thing doesnt work outside the underdark. Once you leave, they die and become innate.

Silence works on her just fine. Just stack it Hunger of Hadar for difficult terrain so she stays there long enough. Plant Growth would work too but she is cunning enough to use her fire bombs to burn it away and then exit the silence bubble. Just remember that NPCs cannot initiate dialogue while silenced.

I've been playing with my friend in co-op, and after we found those flowers, I sent them to camp. And all of them were fine, the chest was producing anti magic aura. We used this on couple of encounters in act 2. To my surprise in my second solo playthrough all of the flowers were dead. Maybe 1st time was bugged because of the co-op, or maybe because of the save-loads on raptors. Now when i think about it, I maybe sent this flowers not from my inventory, but right from the field itself. Someone pobably should check this thing with transferring flower right from the spot to your camp chest

I used send to camp, and the chest still has the aura, even in the overworld. I've opened it a few times, but haven't reached act 2 yet so it may break there.

The fight was trivial anyways for me. I hit the statue from the safety of the fort with an arrow and when the beholder came to the fort I used thunder wave to chuck it into the abyss.

I don't think it's a bug, when Sussur withers, when you try to put in someone else's pocket. While in your pouch in your bag it has two layers of fabric protecting from sun, backpack's and pouch's. When you take it out to put elsewhere it will have only one, even if for a brief moment. Even safes have small gaps, through which light can reach the delicate flower, thus making you to cover it with additional layer of protection.

idk if the double-layer thing still works, but i think u could put it in a pouch inside another pouch, it might work to prevent it from withering on reverse pickpocketing. I might test that later, but for now i'm not even sure if the double layer thing is also working...

@@johnbraithwaite863 looks like the bag trick doesn't work anymore, they dry up even inside a bag-in-a-bag, but you can keep them inside a bag in your camp chest. (i'm not sure if you could try other containers, i'm currently on honour mode so i can't really test this out lmao)

Moving stuff around in your inventory doesn't take any actions in combat. So you could probably just put the bloom away in a bag, cast whatever you want on your turn, and then take it back out of the bag so it only blocks the enemies' spells.

Did you try if you get permanent antimagic aura, that if you respec your class does it disappear so no need to load saves. also can pickpocket used money from Withers so its free to respec.

There's even a hidden path inside the Underdark leading straight into Ethel boss fight room. So you don't get into any sunlight on the way there.

Definitelly gonna keep one for my barbarian or fighter the next play through. I assume paladin's smite also doesn't work with the anti-magic aura, since it uses spell slots. Even though smite is technically a class feature and not a spell in the actual TTRPG. Also would be interesting to know if Ki also counts as spells in this game.

Mine are withered but still have the anti-magic aura. I just send them to camp and whenever I am close to the inventory chest, the field works.

It’s just a VTuber model. I followed a YT tutorial to make it. The animation program is called VTube studio. I forgot what the program that rigged the animation is called. Just search “how to make. VTuber model” 😁

Maybe it's possible to still use magic while carrying the flowers: monk of the 4 elements can cast magic with Ki even when there is silence.

Silence is not equal to antimagic in 5E or Baldurs Gate. Even the wizard can cast some spells in silence. The limiting factor with silence is verbal components which most spells require. Keyword here being *most* ;).

The flower inside a pouch inside a bag (inside a crate)didn't work for me toprotect the flower from being destroyed by a ray of light in the forge camp in the underdark. I tried to in the upper world, they get destroyed during loading even if I pop in the shadow of a tree. So patched out ?

The sussur bloom on a Barbarian and fighter is heavenly, problem it will spellock all other melee class. Also the Blue aura and sound must be annoying after a while. But it is a nice cheese for steelwatcher hehehehe.

Just tried it (2 Oct 2023), I put enough blooms that were active and creating the anti-magic field around the ground for the cut-scene. He was easily in it. The cut scene will happen either way. Unfortunately you can't save that elf

If you still want to carry the sussur flowers above ground, just put them inside the Chest of the Mundane.

did you test if this works to disable the mind control effect of the hag's masks? I can't find that answer anywhere. I am going to have to test it myself, I wish I wasn't standing in the hag's lair with no quick way to the underdark because I am on a new save.

you could kill the hag to get the same effect, but 3 of them are too far gone, leaving the Mask of Regret as the only savable one. Ps. she also summons them to her room during the fight

This has been fixed, I knew already that only one of the masks can be saved normally, which is why I wanted to try this. I was hoping you could save them all with this method. I found out yesterday this has been completely patched, it doesn't matter what you put the sussar blooms into, they lose their power when you surface now.@@warlordtf9608

KEEP THAT CHEST. It changes what you put into it to be a mundane, low weight, item. you can't easily sort through it, but you can use that to carry a large amount of really heavy stuff like a funky box of holding.

Theres one other place you can put a sussur bloom that i figured out, your camp chest. It stays safe in there for some reason. Im guessing it counts as your inventory and because its in camp its not flagged as above or below ground inherently to avoid issues and having to individually program each campsite with different settings

*slight spoilers?* When I sent the bloom to the storage chest at camp and came back for a long rest (I kept it there a while and was back to the surface when the following happened) I found Astarion dead on the ground. I think he might have wandered too close to the chest and become temporarily vulnerable to sunlight.

I don't think this works anymore. I tried putting them in a bag and sending the bag to camp and all I had was a petals when I returned to camp out of the underdark. I even tried putting them in a bag, and the the bag in a chest and sending that to camp....

It's not sunlight that kills em. It's leaving the underdark period. I teleported to the treehouse in the swamp to see if I could use one to easily mute Auntie. It was dead when I got there. Guess in theory you have to walk through sunlit areas to get here so oh well.

Do these stop monk abilities? Be interesting to test and see what abilities it does and doesn't stop as some are spell-like but aren't spells.

My one-man-army monk has a magic dampening field. The only thing I cannot use is ignite spell from an item. My cleric is useless if she stands near him.

it stops spell casting, not elemental or magic damage. So for example, Shadow Monk can still use Shadow Arts, but something like cantrips can't be cast.

there is a way to keep them working outside of underdark in full release even after 5+ patches which is biggest reason i never left act 1 yet to find, but not worth spreading around as i want to keep it for lols and mods can do same

seems I was wrong, it's even simpler than that. just type of container. I was putting corpses into containers bc easier to manipulate but seems that's not necessary upon further testing. I just got lucky with container type i put corpses into. based on wording i wonder if it's intended, not that I care. just tested it vs vlaakith wish spell for you to end, didn't help lol

@@W.M.1 and put that into a barrel. I finally finished playthrough after 330 hours so I guess less concerned about this leaking. disabled game updates too. and ofc travel to camp manually to store it. never send

Do they ever Respawn? I sent all 5 of mine to the camp. When I returned to get them for the petrified Drows and Arcane tower, they had all turned into pedals... I never left the Underdark, so they shouldn't have wilted

I don’t think they reapawn. They will wilt if they go anywhere other than a pouch in your own inventory and you go to the surface. 3:28

I wonder if you get the ability to cast while silenced if that gives you chance to use magic even with it? Also, does it negate Kethrics "plot" armour that you have to deal with before fighting him would be hilarious if it did XD

Spells shouldn’t work even if you are able to ignore silence, silence is a different debuff that only affects spells with a verbal component. The bloom actually cancels out magic in an area around it. But I haven’t tested it out myself in the game, so take this with a grain of salt.

i noticed in this video that when Astarion hits the hag it triggers a little cutscene akin to when the owlbear goes into rage. was this a common event in the past that got cut from the full release?

anti-magic auras too OP ; too bad Larian didnt make sure that psionics are distinct/seperate from magic , especially with gith and illithid prominently featured =[

i don't see why psionics shouldn't be supressed by anti-magic auras? or is that something that is separated in the rulebooks specifically?

@@ValkynShade i dunno how it is in 5e , but previously psionics were a distinct and separate system , ie psionics would work on a beholder with its main eye staring at you [the typical anti-magic cone] and similarly the shadow magic system was also another 'weave'

@@CYI3ERPUNK for at least 4e psionics and magic do not work in antimagic fields. the explanation is that while the source of power is different they both act similarly enough to be blocked. this explanation does not hold water for the Dark Sun or Dragonlance settings though so i personally think it sucks

it stops magic from being cast, it doesn't stop an effect under concentration.

Also to note if you 'send' sussur blooms to your camp they immediately wilt and turn into useless pedals worth 1g. Be careful with your flower handling. The trick here is to keep this from happening never send your full party to camp. Keep one person out in the world. This happened in my multiplayer playthrough and might be the work around.

How are you long resting if one person can't return to camp?

@@seandyer7937thats not due to leaving your party member outside camp. In my first playthrough I sent all flowers to camp because I didn't know anything about them and thought they can be used later. And I'm in the very end of the game right now and flowers still in my camp chest working fine and I can't cast anything near it.
