Today, Moe and Su-tan are in Kyoto to practice the traditional art of Japanese Tea Ceremony. Actually, this is Su-Tan’s first tea ceremony experience.
Okamoto-san of Hosokawa Onryu taught us about the history and etiquette of the tea ceremony, and we learned a lot during the day.
If you are interested in learning more about the tea ceremony, please visit the exhibition at the Kyoto National Museum in this fall.

Thanks for watching, Kimonoko❤ Okamoto-san also teaches a tea ceremony for children. This time he welcomed me to bring my daughter to the tea room, which made me very happy because I was not able to do a Tea ceremony lesson after giving birth ❤️ I had completely left the tea ceremony, but I realized again that I really love this space. I'd like to have a moment to calm myself down in my hectic daily life. If you're interested in more, check it out here! She's so patient with her daughter. You can tell at times that she's purposely doing opposite of what her mother asks🙈😂. But she's always still so loving and patient with her. Such a kind, gentle, beautiful soul.

Moe, knowing how scared you are of bugs, I almost screamed on your behalf when the dragon fly landed on your finger.😮 but you did great letting it rest there. I'm proud of you, not scaring Sutan, or making her scared of bugs. I am 65, but for most of my childhood and youth I was afraid of dragon flies because as a little girl around Sutan's age, my grandmother told me they were sewing needles that would sew up my mouth if I talked or cried too much. It was a horrible thing to do to a child who loved nature. Now the only insects I fear are the stinging kind because I am allergic to them. Just remembering running and screaming from, what turned out to be, beautiful creatures of many iridescent colors, saddens me....but brings me joy watching you. God bless you.

He is very handsome! But how wonderful and such great knowledge he has to teach about a tea ceremony that’s lasted for many generations. Many countries make sure to keep their traditions going for as long as possible. I’m proud of my Mexican heritage and traditions and family traditions, from ceremonies to food. You look so pretty in your Apple Green Kimono and Sutan just wants to be close to her mama. Just adorable. And what timing the dragonfly landed on your finger! Thank you for sharing. 💖🌸🌸🌸

Sutan watching her mother bravely enjoy the special dragon fly moment will probably be a memory she never forgets. The sheer joy, fear, and love on Moe's face is so clear! I also truly feel like I learned something important about hospitality and mindfulness. The rewarding feeling of practicing both is reason enough to continue to strive to be better! Thank you for sharing.

Sutan was about 9 months old when I started watching you both. My son was a baby then. It s so incredible to see how we all evolved since then. Like you, since becoming pregnant and a mum, there are many things I still not been able to get back to. Things that I long to do again. I had a parental burn out lately and had to spend 10 days just by myself to rest. It was the first time I parted with my 2.5 year old son, I thought I was abandoning my child. But that was a big liberation for me, since then I try step by step to do what I love doing again. I am very impressed by how the teacher was very patient and gentle with Sutan :) Very beautiful experience to watch! Sending the family big hugs and lots of love.

We experienced a shorter tea ceremony when we visited 3 years ago, it was the most beautiful experience. Although I was unable to sit comfortably our host was very accommodating. The tea itself tasted amazing, I have to admit I found our visit quite moving . This video was incredible. I've seen Japanese tea ceremonies on travel shows many times, but only now do I understand that it is about the careful consideration the host gives, the appreciation the guest gives, and the comfort of the tradition. It made me think of so many ways I could treat my guests when I'm hosting them. Thank you for asking the right questions, so we can really understand what is happening. Also, you made me laugh so hard when the dragonfly landed on your finger. You were so gracious about it - I probably would have ended up in the water. 😂

My mother-in-law told me she was maybe five [1932] when she was sent to her first tea ceremony. Her grandmother dressed her formally-right down to traditional underwear. My mother-in-law said that it was the most boring hour of her life. Don't forget to give the camera operator and crew credit, eh? The dragonfly was really cool! I hope that Sutan grows up with familiarity with nature. I am proud of the effort you made to bear the surprise of a scary insect on your finger.
