My kids both raced this at amateur motocross races and won a lot with them. The motor was excellent, the suspension and handling was great. The bike held up well under a full season of racing. That was 20 years ago and despite riding RM250’s now, my sons both will take out the RM85’s just for fun.

My friends rm80 was the first bike i ever rode on and what got me into riding. You're right about the bottom end torque scared me quite a bit with how much it would wheelie, and certainly stalled plenty

Yes, but you'll be a bit big for it and it's not a good woods bike.

I don’t think any 65 or 85cc 2 stroke race bike is good for any beginner. I had a 2020 kx85 I bought for squirreling around. I did trail ride it once. It was a blast. We rode in the early summer and were the 3rd/4th people to break trail. We had to lift our bikes over downed trees many times. Me riding the 85cc was no issue. At 165lbs or so I just threw the bike over everything. My friends 300xcw and 250+ lbs wasn’t so easy. However, im a over 6’ tall and around 200lbs. And the guy I bought it from set it up for a 200lb rider. He was a midget at 5’6 or so and 200lbs. Hence the reason he bought a kids bike. It’s no hillclimber that’s for sure. On the trail ride it bogged a lot. But as an experienced rider I figured it out.
