I watched 2 full ads to get here, congratulations on monetization. I'm gonna say it depends on your circumstances. I built a retirement/camping/travel 87 tintop (I refuse to use the buzzword Overland). I love my economy, light weight, and reliability. I love getting parts from any parts house, in any country. I had a 91 w/1.6, had better torque of course, but the transfer case is already weak on these things. With unlimited schedule, I discovered the joy of slow.
Got mine all dialed in and you’re right it’s the way to go over doing any kind of upgrade on the 1.3L. I absolutely love the power in the 16v, I was driving down the highway the other day and got it up to 77 mph and still could have thrown it in 5th gear 🤣
Loved your video. 👍👍 some day I would love to own a speedboat like yours and tow it down to the river front . For now, amongst the other mods I've installed a tow ball /pintle hock behind my G13BB zuk😊 I installed a koyo hydraulic steering in my zuk but seeing your EPS video I'm tempted to change over to EPS
I would think that the hydraulic steering would be better, but I don't have anything to compare to. The EPS is definitely simple and works great, nice and clean...no leaks..lol The little Jet Boat is a real hoot! once your on step or planning, you only need a couple inches of water to run on! Thanks for watching Fabbin Adventures!
Well the 1.3 turbo was "boost" if you will, and at the time i thought it was the way to go. Clouded by Boost, i over looked reliability, easy starting in cold weather, and the fact that 1.6 is just more cubes and thus more torque! I think this 16V will be great, untill im ready for a 2.3! Thanks for watching!
Perfect swap. Love to do the same but to get it streetlegal i must take the 8valve 1.6. You could make a weehling trip video just to see how the zuk performe. best wishes from germay and stay save.
Just put a 3 speed auto behind a G13B. The 1.3 twin cam is supposed to put out more hp than even the 1.6 16v. I've got another twin cam with a Eaton m45 supercharger. Both are on propane .
Love my 1.616v/PS swap. It's like a different vehicle. Can get 85mph on the hwy or 2nd gear crawl at idle in 4L thru the flooded fields duck hunting. What's not to like?
Yes definitely better than the "myside" or the "myturbo" i wish i would have just went this way in the first place! Thanks for watching! Check out some of my newer videos!
@@FabbinAdventures at least you got it all set up for the swap , with the bigger fuel lines , my samurai has been sitting for 3 years I want to drive it agian , and I had questions about how you fabricated your motor mounts , can you buy the motor mounts with out having to fabricate them ?
i have a tintop but i have some pretty rusty rocker panels, any guides for repairing rockers? I have seen an online shop that sells bare panels, just not sure if its to that point yet.
I cut mine right out and bent new ones from 23guage sheet metal and welded them back in. Other than that, buy the pre bent ones and weld them in. Thanks for watching Fabbin Adventures!
love the diy videos. i just bought a sammy with a brand new 1.3l from lror. ive seen the starting issues in march in sask. thinkin bout a swap down the road. just wondering, why u went with a 1.6 over a vw diesel? i just want to do this once my self, ha
Ahhh why the 1.6 over the diesel question. Well... if you deal with mud or snow, light weight is the answer, ive seen it first hand how adding too much weight to these sammys, especially up front is not the answer. I would wager if you took 2 identical sammys except one had a diesel and one had the 16v, ran them through muskeg, the 16V would make it through, the diesel....i doubt it. For general cruising or rock crawling a diesel would probably be awesome! The ease of the 1.6 16V install and clean uncrowded engine bay is also a plus. For what i use it for, keeping it light weight and parts availability and cheap maintenance is the way to go! Where you at in Sask? I grew up there in Saskatoon! Thanks for watching Fabbin Adventures!
Hi Great intro & information Need your expertise I have 1.6 16 valve set up Need up grades the alternator ( just order LOW RANGE ALTERNATOR KIT, no advice on alternator & belt ) Can you give advice ( what's to get alternator & serpentine belt size?) Thanks Keep up great videos !
Sure thing man! I had about 5 cs130 alternators in my sammy but kept killing them. Since then i have installed a 105 amp 10si wilson part number 90-01-3081a 19135 052 and the belt is a napa Micro-V At 25-040325. Thanks for watching!
@@FabbinAdventures Hi that's fast response! Where's best to purchase from?( im in u.s.a) Did you change alternator pulley? Also tips on wiring it would be awesome 16valve like your set up Keep tin top "green machine " going for sure! Yes!, test driven 16valve Suzuki samurai, i saw "the light in tunnel " You're right!
I kept the original pully, and id say the best place if you have a napa down there would be to get it at napa so the parts numbers match. Id have to go see how i have it wired, but its dark here now, i just googled up the wiring diagram and wired it that way, sofar, no trouble. I carry a spare now, just incase.
@@FabbinAdventures Hi Appreciate your fast response ! Are you using v belt or serpentine belt?( factory used serpentine belt) LOW RANGE tech couldn't assist me (I watch your video gather "fun facts " on samurai) Appreciate the tech support Thanks Ps new Wilson alternator 90-01-3081a don't have belt pulley ( another "mystery "to solve)
Hello. I do not speak English well. 1) Could you briefly say that 1.3 turbo or 1.6 is better? 2) Why do not you put the injection engines with an automatic transmission? 3) Is it worth it to put a turbine on an F10A engine? Given that I have 29 wheels on Samurai and I go on light off-road. Thank!!! Greetings from Russia :)))
I sold the parts long ago. I want to keep thid thing reliable, i take it way back in the bush hunting some times. The 1.6 has plenty of power now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@FabbinAdventures thanks for making the samurai content. I dont own one yet, but Ive found one with the 1.6 8v already installed that seems like a pretty good deal.
I believe it was a 1993 suzuki side kick, i didnt pull it, another guy did, i just bought it from him, never even heard it run..lol I had my buddy John check it over and said it was in very good condition! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Are you still satisfied with the outcome? I’ve been doing research on the projects, it seems like the 1.6 is the easiest swap. How much did the wiring harness cost to get done? Also, did you have the option to swap the air conditioner as well?
Oh yeah! the 16v is a huge step up in power and cold weather starting! It is considered the easiest swap besides the 8v. My buddy John does harness mods for these swaps, i traded some fab work for the harness so im not 100 percent sure what he charges, maybe around $300 canadian. I have a video on my channel interviewing him and what he does. I never even thought of air conditioning since my sammy never had it and i mainly use it in cool weather during hunting season so ac was not even on my priority list..lol
Hey man I wanted to suggest before you sell maybe you would like to check out Jose Villa Performance man he built a 1.3 turbo with honda components check it out its crazy!!!!
sorry for replying so late, apparently i dont get all the messages on my phone. its too late, i sold the whole engine and turbo and everything, love this 1.6 16v way more than the 1.3
