I have single (for now;) Rel S812 with Sopra 3 and Pass Labs XA30.8 and XP-12 preamp. I'm VERY happy. I wouldn't say no to a bit more amp power like 2x XA60.8(mono), but I spent way too much money lately and with the high sensitivity of Sopra 3, that 30W class A really performs satisfactory(for now)😄 Thomas would you do Pass Labs XA30.8 review one day, I wonder what you think about it. I never thought Sopra needed a sub, but I'm completely sold now on sub integration with my stereo. I'm a new beliver!!

I have been using REL T7i for couple years now with my B&W CM6S2. I wasn’t a believer of subs but after adding the REL into my CM6s, i now cannot live without it. The REL not only extended the bass but also did wonders for soundstage & detail in the highs. And i did not even have to dial it in. Just plonked it there & set the gain & crossover according to REL’s setup vids here on youtube & i was in for a treat immediately upon firing up. I believe every pair of speakers big or small will benefit from good subs. And it ain’t just about the bass!

I have a Rythmik Audio direct servo F15HP sealed sub. After installation I invited my audio buddy over for a test listen. He could not tell that the sub was on, but said how wonderful my system sounded. I agree! I love upright acoustic bass instruments and this sub brings them into my room whole and complete!

Not being able to tell if a subwoofer is on or off is the best way to determine if the subwoofer has integrated well with your main speakers.

Hey Thomas, I just love your reviews and personality and was excited to watch your review on an SVS sub. I was only slightly disappointed to discover your review was not for their SB-2000 Pro which I have but enjoyed your review immensely, regardless. I have a pair of SVS SB-2000 Pros in my two-channel system and couldn’t be happier with them. And you’re certainly right about the app: I had the first sub (added a second a few months later) dialed in perfectly with my system in no more than half an hour. My primary goal was to achieve great sound and integration for music, but also have thrilling bottom end for film. I have it all in abundance. And I’ll note what a killer company SVS is. Their customer support is simply outstanding! Cheers to you, Thomas!

I solved the sealed sub problem for both HT and Music with Seaton Sound's HP+ 15" dual opposing woofers with 4000 watt amp (2,400 for master) for $3000. Add a slave for about half that price which the master sub amplifier has 1600 watts to drive. Goes down to below 10hz in my room, will shake the seats themselves but yet remain musical (if you adjust the lfe or gain level a little). Compared to similarly priced REL subs and these blew them out of the water. Use the Seatons in both my music room and HT room. You should check one out sometime if you get a chance.

I have the svs sb-1000 pro for my two channel. The app makes the setup so easy. Used rew to align at 45 hz where my speakers start to fall off. It really makes a difference. You can't tell that it's there, but you can tell when it's not there.

This is perfect timing. I’ve been using two 10 inch Klipsch Subs for a while in my two channel open Baffle system. There’s plenty of bass, but not clean or fast. Yesterday evening I installed a Rel T/7x and removed the other two. I haven’t had time to fine tune it, but just turning it on with the same settings, ( Gain set at half and low pass at 60 hz ) The difference was amazing. Of course I have played heavy bass tracks on which it is much louder than before. The biggest surprise is the musical difference in any track I played. I listened for three hours totally in shock at the difference in the same tracks. I’m a very happy Rel customer.

I have an SVS SB-3000 in my basement TV setup and a Rythmik F12G in my office 2-channel system. They're both great subs, and as always proper integration is critical. I wish more subs came with speaker-level connections. My main system I use a Line Magnetic 210i and only way to hookup a sub is via speaker-level. I'm considering dual SVS SB-1000 pro's to supplement my Klipsch Cornwall IV because they're the only model in SVS' lineup with speaker-level inputs.

My 20 year old Velodyne HGS-12 recently died. After much research (cost was not an issue, though value always is), I chose the SVS SB-4000. I run this with Nautilus 805's driven by a Parasound a21. The sub is crossed over at 38 hz. Bass is weighty and articulate without being boomy. I only listen to music on this system. I'm very happy with the SB-4000. And it can be a monster when you want it to be, like when I'm showing off my system while playing some pipe organ music ;-) As an aside, I initially purchased the SB-3000, but I could hear amp hiss with that model, even after replacing the plate amp. There is no such issue with the 4000, and SVS could not have been easier to deal with.

I’m currently using a REL T7i and absolutely love it. Given my budget, I don’t think I could ever do better than REL for two channel listening. That being said, if I were into HT, SVS is the only sub I would consider. With regards to the PC2000, while a Swiss Army Knife is nice, I much prefer a scalpel or Klein screw driver, depending on what the situation demands. LOL… I’m not sure that makes sense to anyone other than me :)

Very interesting! And the port plugs must help with two channel. Sounds like a workable solution. Would be nice to see a vid on your home theater equipment. I recently decided to enter the market of ULTRA CHEAP Chinese LCD/LED projectors-the sub $300 market, lol. Our main TV is an LG 55" 1080P with supporting Onkyo (51 lbs. receiver) and Polk Audio speaker surrounds, subs. Nothing too upscale but the room is not that big. I purchased a projector for the ridiculous close out price of $100, lol. Full native1080P, decent brightness and color, uses an LG LCD 6" panel, LED arrays and lens to produce the picture. By NO means state of the art, but, surprisingly movie like when properly calibrated in a VERY dark room. And no complaints from the wife because I got it at 65% below MSRP. Will eventually link it to the surround system after I get an HDMI audio extractor. At the moment, in my daughter's former bedroom in a two channel configuration with an AUX cord to a receiver. Low end, for sure. But a viable entry point into HT projection. I can now see why so many get the upgrade bug here and go to 4K laser projectors, etc.

SVS makes some great subs but some still seem to pass them off as a company that only makes HT stuff. I have an SB16 Ultra sub in my stereo system and it's incredibly fast and tight, and plays very accurately. Luckily I've also been able to get great bass in my listening positions by just having one sub, and placing it next to the sofa facing forward. When I got it dialed in it measures great and despite the substantial size of it most people don't even see it due to the placement.

I own and love SB3000 SVS subs. They don’t integrate that well with my two-channel system though. Outstanding bass but a bit bloated and distant sounding. That changed when I purchased the Tekton 4-10 subs. Best decision I had ever made. Seamless, easy to integrate and effortless. Did I mention affordable? Very. Highly recommended!

You're making your own amp?! That's awesome! Can you also include an optional high pass circuit? I am currently upgrading from cheap Dayton Audio subs. I've been listening to a pair of SVS SB3000 since last weekend and I just got in a pair of REL HT1205's yesterday. The SVS seemed hard to integrate at first, but they've been breaking in nicely and I got the isolation feet. Those made a world of difference on my hardwood floor. The RELs integrated better out of the box and seemed more articulate than the SVS did out of the box. But they definitely don't have the same extention or sense of projecting the bass into the room, even at low volume. I need to break them in and also try the SVS isolation feet on them, before I make up my mind though. The one problem with SVS so far, is the plate amps both make pretty bad coil whine. SVS will send replacements and seem confident they will solve the problem, but they are out of stock for weeks. From what I've read online after the fact, I'm nervous about them really solving the problem all together. Either way, waiting will take me out of the trial period from the vendor I bought them from. I am using an Emotiva TA-1 with its integrated high and low pass circuits, driving JBL Studio 580's. Upgrading the subs has made a top to bottom improvement that I had to hear to believe, just like everyone says.

@@michaelwright1602 Probably 6.5-7/10. Isolation feet also a big help. REW helped to identify the room mode frequencies and I was able to tighten them up a lot using the SVS EQ in their app. Not a substitute for proper room treatment but it did more than I was expecting going into it.

If you were to Build your own with a similar cylinder design using car audio 12 subs with 1200w rms and a Daytona audio dsp 1200w amplifier plate it will be way less money to build with more out put and adjustability. you should be able to build 2 subs 1200w cylinder for the price of the one svs. JUST A FYI . I really like it when your bros's (friends) chime in on the item being reviewed. Finally, during my transition to another residence I took your advice and bought a pair of Triangle 3's to hold me over until I figure out where the hell I am going to land. Your good buddy Shaun says go for the Unison integrated for a good inexpensive integrated and you say hey go for the " Billie Amp. But trust me my Freud if you’ve never heard 110+db at 10hz you need to. It absolutely smashes that sun you reviewed here and the pb16 ultra. You would need like 4 of them to match the output of one cap4000ulf. I highly highly doubt you would ever review that it’s 300lbs+ but it would be awesome if you did and someone could just bring it in your house for you more like 5 people. Great review, thank you. Do you have any idea if there's anything like tweeters for hifi? I've already got the sb3000 and I listened to music by 85%. I was surprised you've mentioned the sb3000 as being ideal for music lovers which cheered me up. Though I've got q Acoustic 3030i bookshelf speakers plus 3090ci centre speaker which blends in well with the sb3000. The sb3000 shakes everything to my taste. However, I still need more sharper details in the very highs which is while I'm wondering if I could add a tweeter. All my music is streamed from RU-vid. While some are great in the highs many aren't. I know RU-vid suppresses music quality. Please could you give me your idea. BTW my room space is too small so I do not want (and don't even like) floorstanders. Thank you in advance.

Lol Thomas you're the best! Built a home for your audio needs and neighbors peace. I did the same. Lol By the way. Do you feel that the SVS app overall allows any SVS owner to dial in the sub(s) perfectly as oppose to their older models without it? Or are the advancements more on their drivers, cabinets or cylinders being greatly improved to offer better sound quality and control? The reason I ask is because I have an older PB-13 Ultra for movies, but not for music because it can't keep up with my Sopras, but for about $300 or so I can buy a new amp from SVS, with the app tuning feature. When I was using my Kef Wireless ii Metas I loved the Kef app because I could easily tailor the Rel's to smoothly blend in, but those are Rel's and way better overall. But hey, if I can use my SVS for hometheater and music I'm in for $300. By the way, EXCELLENT idea to add subwoofer outs to your upcoming amp!!! Have you heard the preproduction model yet? Tx

I have two REL T5 and they work really well with the Mag LRS for example. They work ok with the KEF LS50 other than the midbass hump of that speaker although in fairness maybe plugs and speaker placement would help. With a real speaker with a 12" woofer the T5 created a mess which I suppose could be expected given the bigger speaker able to go lower in freq than the REL.

@@ThomasAndStereo That would be neet, but I get the feeling that it's the addition of running a Class 'A' amp that makes the REI sweet. ... I'm not a big believer in Class 'D' amps. If you are a speaker designer working in the Class 'D' areas it seems like a Painter without any conventional tools like paint and brushes that have been used with Class 'A' to make the signature sounds most of the 'great' amps have. ....
