This gave me a great idea. Next time I change my motor oil, I'm going to soak up any spilled oil with crackers and give them to my buddies next time they bring some beer over.
@@dalehood1846 aahhh I'm glad I made you think of him. My Dad passed as well. Losing a parent is a whole different kind of sadness. BTW I'm a female but I was named after a man named Robin.
@@robinhood2454yeah I lost my mom and dad and losing a parent definitely is difficult. But I like to think that as long as we talk about them and share stories about them and keep the memories they never really die. God bless all of you and much love 💕
I had some garlic powder, onion powder, and a little cayenne pepper and put them in a big Ziploc bag and let mine set 24 hours or at least overnight so that the saltines soaked up all that oil and believe it or not they're not greasy at all and they're very crisp! Delicious!
Being raised in the country you run across this kind of eating. It's not like you eat this stuff everyday, just when you're on the crick fishin or in the blind waitin for the deer. If you're waiting on kale and cucumbers salad these ain't the folks. Well done Mr Hoyt

When Mr. Hoyt first gets the cookbook up talking about it, pause video. He's holding it perfectly, ...matching up the background of cover to his actual overalls.....noice!
I mix my oil mixture in a canning jar and shake until all ingredients have mixed and then I let sit for an hour or so shaking as often as I walk by. I mix nuts, pretzels, and mini crackers in my container then I pour oil mixture over then I shake as often as I walk by. They are one of my favorites. Love you Mr. and Mrs. Tidwell. God Bless you both.
in home canning, the lids are the part that gets replaced regularly; the glass jar gets sanitized and reused, but the lid and its seal are replaced frequently... that's why mason jars with their easy-to-manage lids are such an efficient innovation
I use oyster crackers, ranch , garlic and dill. Switched the oil to half butter and half avocado oil, mix and bake stirring occasionally. While they’re not the healthiest snack they sure are good.
Love your recipe!! Actually that's the only way I've ever had this snack is with the oyster crackers and not regular Saltine crackers. I think both work great, just depends on what you want to use that day you make em.🙂
People need to stop with this, protect him at all cost BS! What do we have to protect him from,is someone after him? Is he really that important that we need to protect him is he making some type of amazing thing that was never made before that is helping society with? We got to protect the guy that's making crackers with oil! 🤦🏼♂️🤡🐑
@@The_Cannabis_Connoisseur aww wow someones pressed. I'm laughing bc you felt compelled to write an essay to a comment of someone you dont even know. That man reminds me of my Papaw, so have some empathy. I highly doubt youre a cannabis connoisseur😂😂😂🤷🤷🤷 you probably made that name for yourself for clout. Honestly. N if you reeeeallly were familiar w cannabis as you claim you wouldnt get so pressed about such comments online. Now stop being an internet trolly n go smoke you one. Nobody liles a hater so go on *makes shoo'ing gesture like directing livestock*😂😂
@@The_Cannabis_Connoisseur looks like my comment didnt post. I came here again to tell you how sad it is that you get so pressed over a comment you gotta write an essay. I said he reminded me of my Papaw, have some empathy. How are you a cannabis connoisseur and have no content on your channel? 😂🤡 you probably made that name up for clout. You should prolly go smoke one then instead of getting so worked up *shoo'ing you away like directing livestock*
@@buckshot8393 he really is. Both of my comments got erased but I told him if he was a TRUE cannabis connosiuer he wouldn't get so salty over a comment. He doesnt even have content on his channel. So he's a fake anyways😂
This makes me miss the south so much. These salt of the earth people are such good company and full of wisdom, without pretenses. Love the recipe, love you two, love the scripture reading and I'm off to buy your cookbook. God bless each of you.
This recipe is good I do the same thing, but then I take the crackers and smoke them at 250 for 30-45 minutes, it crisps them up a bit and they taste great.
Some people might want to use light olive oil instead of canola because they don't eat seed oils. You can also use your own homemade ranch mix. And wheat crackers. This is in response to the person who opined on the healthiness of the snack. People can be creative.
I am looking forward to your cookbook. I plan on buyinG a few as gifts. I absolutely love your cooking. Reminds me of some of the stuff my mom used to cook when I was a kid. Thank you for sharing.
Following this easy and quick recipe for over a year now and still enjoy them the longer you let them sit the better they get ❤ thank u for sharing this amazing recipe
Hi, glad to say I just subscribed to your channel and enjoyed your video too. I love your confidence in front of the camera and behind. I'm glad to see you sir and hear the both of you. Best Wishes from Dallas, Texas USA ❤

Love this ignorant comment on a 5 year old video. Imagine commenting something dumb w/o watching that they ADDED this recipe to THEIR cookbook 😉. Have the day you deserve
Sir. Today is the first time I've ever seen or heard of you. You remind me of the majority of my family. I'll try this recipe. I love cooking, and making things. Y'all keep saying prayers and I'll keep spreading your channel as much as I can. God bless you and yours.
My English teacher in 8th grade made this for the class all the time, now that i am older and pregnant i am craving for the crackers so bad...Thank u for sharing, i will defently try it out😍
Had to click on this recipe for "Swamp Crackers." They look tasty! I'll need to leave off the red pepper flakes (Irish tastebuds cannot handle heat). New subscriber. Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.
When I came to this I said out loud "thanks to who ever what ever that led me to this", my 2 obsessions in the world are Southern Lit and Southern Cooking ❤ these 2 are precious!
Omg who else wishes he was your grandpa! The overall are giving me feels... And yes no slapping of mamas allowed... Def going to try to make these... #screenshot ❤️❤️ congratulations on your cookbook. #devotional 🙏🏾🙏🏾 #water lol
I just love y’all! My husband knows your son and he told us about your channel. I enjoy and appreciate your Christian family values❤️ I’m from Mississippi and we say “make you wanna slap your mama” all the time lol
I just found your page and I have to say I LOVE IT! Your cobalt blue caught my eye( I collect). You have the sweetest disposition & I truly enjoyed your scripture reading, you both are a blessing from God. I would love to own your cookbook, but cannot afford it. I am caregiver for my 37 yr. daughter w Epilepsy & my 73 yr. mentally challenged brother ( both live with me). Our budget is very tight .
Here in California during the summer...we throw fruit in a big jar like that with ice and alcohol..wrap with towel and just keep passing around so it gets shaken good. Might have to do this too! 😂👍
I watch all types of these types of videos and rarely try stuff but for some reason when I seen these I knew I had to try them. Ran to the store, got the fixins, and I have not stopped eating these things! Glad I found your channel and thanks for the tasty, cheap recipe. Take care!
"Water...." 😳 Oh my goodness! Y'all are funny as the day is long! Thanks for the laugh ✝️💜 May our precious Lord bless your coming in and your going out. Hallelujah!
My stepdad made these all the time when I was a kid. He would use the Oyster Crackers and toss em into the oven for a few mins after lettin them sit for an hour or so. We just ate em' by he handful.
🤣🤣🤣 The mere fact he closed the lid and she had to ask for one then he only gave her a half of one tells you they are good🤣🤣🤣 im not even gonna lie that had me dying laughing. These are that good on their on or paired especially with salads regular, chef, chicken, tuna or even paired with cracker bite dips. Their just good with anything honestly.
I have been making these without the ranch dressing mix, but in addition to the oil using garlic powder, onion powder, powdered cayenne pepper, and powdered cheddar cheese. And they are harrrrd to resist👍🏻
I may use olive oil and a little more spice but I'm definitely gonna give this a try, looks like you may have put me onto something new! Bet this would be fantastic with some pickled jalapenos
I find that it takes about 10 hours for them to fully settle, Great video I took my recipe a little bit but y’all gave me a good starting point God bless
I wouldn't want a soggy cracker. Id bake em. We do ours with olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Parmesan cheese powder & red pepper flakes. Let em sit 30 min after saturating them and bake at 300 for 25 min. Let cool and store in a air tight container:) sounds crazy but dip em in ranch or buffalo sauce. Its perfect for holiday get together or office party. ❤😊
God bless you guys I do not know how I ended up on this video but I have saved it and I am subscribed and I am most definitely sharing it with my mom hello from Alaska
Seems like something I'd like to try. I was expecting the crackers to break down and get into crumbs but it doesn't look like they did. Thanks for sharing this recipe❤
