Today we take the boat out to do a few speed tests and run through a swamp. . . Apologies we accidentally posted with 9 minutes of black screen and the editing wasn’t the best it was a rushed video. Just trying to put content out.
That boat looks super light in the video, I have the same boat in a Al weld, heavy as heck, But I have basically have the same set up, but I run a crawfish go devil frame 57 inch shaft with the same motor 20 - 22 mph, 9x6 stainless prop,3700 rpm 9x5 4000 -4100rpm, 17mph
Are y’all getting a lot of bow lift with that motor? I’ve got a 212 on mine (same boat) and the bow sits so low when I’ve got my load and another guy that if there’s any chop at all water is coming over the bow. Looking to upgrade to the 670. Where do yall have the battery and how low does the transom sit in the water?
Not sure if your still running that thing or if you figured it out but they make a weed blade that bolts onto the keg right up to the prop it will shred every weed that gets on your tail prop... pretty simple ad genuus idea
Great video love these types of videos I’m glad more people are switching from junky outboards to super simple reliable mud motors an because there cool lol but one thing I’d really recommend I’d get a tachometer it really helped me with sizing out through props on my heavy 1448 monark flatbottom I’m running a 420 predator on a beaver dam mud runners large kit an one other thing swamp runner does sell a weed cutter bar but I’ve heard they don’t really do much what I’ve done is I took a thin pvc pipe to fit perfectly over my shaft but still have a little bit of rotation on the shaft an drilled a few little holes in it so the shaft can get water into it the cool down it really makes your motor weedless an doesn’t slow you down at all
Is there a huge difference between the 13hp/22hp? I mean as far as speed/ weight. I have a 1542 with a stage 1 13hp. I'm not sure if I want to go with cam/springs this winter or just buy a 22hp.
22hp is definitely better for pushing loads. While you can reach a similar top speed empty; the 22hp stays more consistent with speed when you put more weight in the boat. Our 1542 empty hit 25mph with the 22hp and 18mph with the 13hp. It also depends on what prop size you run.
@@donduck6195 yessir, it was one person empty so that makes a huge difference. But apparently some remove the governor and get an aftermarket intake and push 30mph+
