Part I of epic piece Bring the Sun/Toussaint L'Ouverture. I don't own the rights, this video was made only to share the greatness of Swans. Buy the album (as I did) from the Young God Record store.
8:20 - 14:30 Jesus Christ, this was like being on a rollercoaster that slowly climbs to the top. And JUST when you think it’s reached it’s peak it just keeps getting higher and higher and higher…
Benzodiazepine To quote George Carlin, "I worship the sun, but I don't pray to the sun." RIP. 😢 The sun seems like a much more reasonable thing 2 worship than a fake sky daddy. It's powerful yet flawed. And, most importantly, we can fucking see it!
This ultimately made me rethink of Kayo Dots Marathon as the best song ever made. I might actually be wrong this masterpiece of a track destroys your inner self while filling it with an energy rarely ever heard outside of the best of the best bands.
Felix T-Rex coldplay ain't even that good. If you want some real, masterly crafted, experimental music, look up this really underground, underrated band called maroon 5.
i introduced this song to my ex-gf because we did this thing were we take turns playing our 5 favorite albums for each other to get a sense of each other's taste, here's her comments: 0-3:40 minutes "is this song ever gonna go anywhere??? what? it's 30min? wtf" 4:00- "is he ever gonna say actual lyrics? what is he saying? is this even rock?" 5:19 - 8:30 "wtf is he mumbling? is he just saying "im a man he's a man?" i thought you said these guys were artsy or watever" 9:00 - end "i dont like this. it sounds like the apocalypse" [turns off song before the second half] "okay my turn time for STRFKR"
shallowness is ultimately subjective and the fact that your take isnt nuanced enough to take that into consideration -- not to mention the fact that you dont even know the bitch -- before calling her shallow based solely on your own personal definition of shallowness is shallow in itself my nigga
It's a bit of a stretch but I always interpreted the whole album as a reflection on how having a child will both completely change you as a person and your relationship with others. Hence the album cover being a child.
I don't understand why this wasn't on a separate track, especially as "Bring the Sun" is an absolute masterpiece IMO, with its monumental build-up and groovy rhythm. The second half "Toussaint L'Ouverture", on the other hand is just 15min+ of nothingness, and random spoken word...
I mean, I guess. They're the same band that put a dance on an album full of depressing drones and crescendos and eerie vocal samples. Either way, I think oxygen is a great song off the album. But that's my opinion, and I see you have yours.
