SWAPPING a DANA 80 into a Dentside Ford Truck: Will it Fit?

In this episode, Aaron shows his viewers how to swap a Dana 80 into a Dentside Ford truck as a part of the 12v Cummins F350 project. This rear came out of a 3rd gen Dodge and should pair nicely with the high torque from the Cummins engine. The axle will be sitting on Skyjacker FR173S springs and Battle Born Brakes Super Duty swap bracket. The perches and Ubolt plates came from Barnes 4WD drive parts (Dana 80/AAM specific). This hopefully will be a killer swap!

Have to say I’m impressed with that Ryobi impact. I have several older Ryobi tools (my 5 1/2” circular saw is 22 yo and still going strong) I thought about the impact but decided to go to the Milwaukee 3/4”. Found it on a smoke’n Black Friday deal in 2022. This build is coming along nicely looking forward to the end product.

I won't say its the best, but I will say that once you have a 1/2 electric impact it is a must have tool!

I am in the process in buying the Battle Born Brake front and back swap kits for a 79 F350. Just curious on where you purchased the leaf spring plates and leaf spring shackles. I can’t wait to get into my project. Thanks for the video. Great job!!! Following your project now.

Dana 80s were in 2nd gen dodges 01.5-02 for a disc rear. That’s a hard to find axle.

Yes you're correct, I know nothing about the Dodges, this one was out of a 2002 NV5600 truck (2nd gen ike you said not 3rd). I specifically wanted all the best parts of the 2nd-3rd gen Dodges, being the 12v, the NV5600, NV271, and the Dana 80 (parts I like the best anyway). Thanks for checking out the channel!

I’ve been into dodges specifically Cummins powered up to 02. That’s going to be a great truck. I just bought my first ford last year. 79 snow package lariat xlt regular cab. I’m in the process of doing a 12 valve nv4500 in it. I kinda got a thing about Dana 60 front dentsides now lol. Love your content can’t wait to see it together

Cool man it seems we like the same exact stuff. I actually like the look of 90s-early 2000s rams, but dentsides are def my thing@@jakepardall2991
