Great in-depth video Brett. It was between this or the Allett Liberty 43. I like how the mower is significantly wider than the Allett but I went with the Liberty because of cost. This mower could still be in my future. Great video!

Great video, thank you ! I have had a robotic mower from Husqvarna cutting my grass for a few years now. I do however love the reel mower concept, and I was surprised to hear from you that in such a premium- and expensive reel mower such as the Swardman Electra, a few features were not as good as they should be for a mower at this price level. Husqvarna WERE the leading company in my view as far as robotic lawnmowers are concerned, but some companies have overtaken them as far as both performance and price are concerned. Worx for example use their Power-Share battery system for their robotic lawnmowers, which can easily be replaced and/or used for other Worx machines, whereas the Husqvarna batteries are difficult to access, cannot be charged externally, and cost a lot more to replace than Worx batteries, and they cannot be used for other Husqvarna equipment either. Husqvarna seem to think that they are the technology leaders in this field, and that the competitors cannot catch up with them easily, however the fact is that they have been, and are still being, overtaken by their competitors. If Swardman don’t wake up in this regard, they will be overtaken in a similar way as well.

Mr. Brett, grwat review! I agree on all the points you stated in this video. Its a great mower just needs some tweaking. The Edwin 2.1 gas seems to have resolved a few of the issues.

Enjoyed the review and I always thought those handles looked really uncomfortable but I don’t think it would be a deal breaker after seeing you and Jeremy using it ( some good laughs) .

I can't believe I have to watch commercials during this commercial [which is great btw]. But wow youtube is really just same old broadcast TV now. Glad I was able to watch for a few years before it went and sold out completely. Great review bruh!

I'm buying an Allett. They have been around for years, well made product, lots of service tech support, battery on the Liberty can be taken out or swapped for a new one when need( I never like battery that is part of the machine. If battery dies or goes bad goodbye machine.)

I've looked at the Alletts as well and have held back on those for a different reason. I have no desire to go any narrower than my current 22" rotary mower. In fact, I'd like to use something wider, even up to 30". However, I'm not about to spend $6.4k Allett Buckingham 24H or double that on an Allett C24. If I'm forking out that kind of cash, then I might as well purchase a Toro Greensmaster which I know aren't electric, but they do allow for higher cut options.

Really great video Brett, thank you! So appreciative of your candid and learned commentary. You lawn looks just AMAZING! I'm curious relative to time savings using the Swardman. I have about 70% of an acre and I have a cheap little Sun Joe reel mower today (to fair, it does a reasonable job). My biggest complaint is it just takes forever to mow my lawn each wk - as lawn clippings basket is tiny/poorly set-up as it quickly starts dropping clippings onto the lawn, it's not a super precise cut thus requirely heavy overlap on lines, have to swap 3 batteries for best performance, etc. For it's price and for a beginner, hard to complain. That said, if I'm going to upgrade I'm curious your POV on whether the Swardman would actually save me time (it's nice that it's motorize/self propelled - but is it painfully slow? Would love your thoughts and thanks in advance for your time

The swardman mows great and would do great for you I think. You have to take a step back and understand that it is not a greens mower but a homeowner mower. It is for sure a big step up from the sun joe, albeit an expensive step. If you want one I've got a gas one for sale 😁

Not liking that batteries are not swappable. What’s the life of the batteries? How will you be able to replaced them?

My guess for the lack of plastic catcher is due to the expensive tooling required for molded plastic parts. Metal is cheap to cut and weld, I bet in future now that they are getting more and more customers the plastic catcher will come.

The internal battery is definitely a deal breaker for me. Lithium batteries degrade rapidly at temps over 85 degrees so storing in my garage that gets up to 110 degrees in the summer is a no go. I have a 40 volt greenworks mower and store the batteries in my house.

I have the 80v Greenworks and charge/store my batteries in my basement workshop. I never heard about the batteries degrading in hot temps. Good to know that I’m doing something right, although accidentally.

Open the machine , couple screws (rivets?), and show us the battery/internals. Seems like it is under the top cover. Does it void the warranty ? There is definitely a sticker on the batteries with tech specs.

Thanking you, I was considering one of these but it sounds like it's not worth it's price tag, would pay about half of what they're asking but yeah, $5000 for internal battery and weak design, no chance.

Yessir up north near Ogden. I've been watering every 2-4 days depending on how the lawn looks. 45 mins a zone.

If you charge it between each use, does the battery develop a memory and become a shorter run time?

Dont think so. It is Lithium based and I didnt even see it. :) Li batteries are cycle based. Each charge = 1cycle. Depends on the cells/quality how many cycles they can take. If it works in Teslas just fine , I wouldn't be bothered.

Great review. thank you so much. So if you had to pick between Swardman Edwin 2.1 and Allette Liberty electric, I know 2 different engines, what would you go with? Allette's been around for so long and has multiple dealers. I feel like with Swardman, the servicig down the line may be an issue?

Thats a tough one. I think both are good options but may lean a bit towards the allett.

Does the weight of the gas model help with stripes compared to the electric?

I think so from my experience. I've not used the swardman gas model though.

I still have #allettenvy. Currently using a Toro Greensmaster 1000 but I love the adaptability of Allett mowers. I really want a Buckingham.

I really want to get my hands on an allett. I wish they had a battery offering in the 22-26 inch range though. The battery on the swardman is so nice mowing is so quiet!

Great review Brett. I have both an Electra and an Edwin and like both of them. I have all the cartridges, have used them all and can vouch that all are worth purchasing if you have a need for them.

I'm sure Swardman is thinking: 1. Oh handlebars? Wrap them in leather for only $100 more! Easy 2. Oh grass catcher? We'll get you a plastic one for only $500 more! Easy 3. Oh rear drum? We'll upgrade that metal for ya for a cool $2000 more! Everything's an upgrade it seems like for them

For the price you should be able to adjust HOC with one hand, have LED lights, & their website is not very good. 99% of people in the market for a reel mower will opt for gas until they can price right. Great review though

I really like that Swardman has a relatively low cost of entry in comparison to buying a new greens mower. My big concern with the Electra is the longevity of the batteries. A gas mower will last for AGES, but how many years will that battery cooperate?

man, this is the mower I want but the price tag today configured for the smaller one is with all cartridge's is... wait for it... totally serious $4500. what in the actual ****. Who is the market for that price?? I can buy a much better reel mower plus detach ect for much less. $2500 cool done, $4500 hard no.

Now if allett would make a 20" Liberty instead of going smaller to a 12" like they did this year. I just can't fathom a 12" mower but they do have small lawns in the UK.

I have had nothing but trouble with my Electra. Cant recommend it. Right now it’s totally bricked.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that! I was worried about long term reliability with this unit. Given the price point its really disappointing to hear that a relatively new mower would be useless so fast. I hope they fix this for you Brad.

Thanks for the review. BUT BUT. Still too costly and light weight. Can buy 2 reel mowers for the same price. One with the reel blades the other with the verticutting blade. Going off AUD Prices
