In this video series, Andy (Kent Survival) and I head off to the Swedish Wilderness for a five day canoeing and bushcraft adventure inspired by Dave Bliss’ book ‘Paddles and Polar Bread’. Paddling along the massive lake Stora Le, we experience all the weather Sweden can throw at us, from glorious sunshine, to snow and strong winds whipping the lake up into a raging turmoil of waves and spray. We take all our equipment and food with us in our aluminium Linder canoes and camp in Dano huts or wild camp along the way.
This video is episode four, the final instalment - after setting off for our final camp spot across the lake, we hit the first of our weather for the day - hail! We arrive cold and wet at the designated spot, only to find it lacking for our our needs. A decision is made to get back on the water and head for a wild camp spot. Strong winds and choppy waves are then the order of the day and we get to our final camp exhausted. We spend our last evening on the lake, enjoying some much needed food until a snow storm forces us to retreat to our shelters. Our canoe adventure has been epic - an amazing experience full of varied weather and great times! We will be back, that I'm sure of!
I hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching!
