Thank you for teaching us to cook our native food's especially those of us who have been separated from our own people, culture for what ever reason. I have learned so much from you. God bless you!!!
for years my husband been asking for me to make him sweet plantain empanadas and i never knew how to. thank you for this awesome video. I am sure my husband will love it. Good job
Hola Ida, so glad I found your channel. You have a natural gift for cooking and teaching. Thank you for doing what you do. You mentioned that if we had any suggestions for dishes to let you know, well after watching this video, "jibaritos envueltos" came to my mind! Although I've watched my mother make them countless times, they never come out exactly like hers when I try to make them myself. Please do a video for "jibaritos envueltos"! With your easy to follow instructions I'm sure I'll be able to successfully make them myself. Thanks!
Great video! I'm Portuguese and I dated a Puerto Rican man and he introduced me to all the WONDERFUL foods of Puerto Rico and now I'm hooked 😊 Thank you for your videos, I'll be definitely checking out more of them. 🇵🇹 ❤ 🇵🇷
Thank you for your vids! Ur Amazing. Not any Puerto rican food around where i live. Learning to cook rican foods is helping me hold on tight to my roots. I felt like i was loosing myself until i came across ur videos. Keep going cuz ur a big part of my life now!
Hii where have you been lol. I love all your videos. My daughter and I miss my mother's cooking. She past 2010. We grew up with alot of these dishes. She cooked with love as well. I like the way you teach. My daughter Sophia and I will be following you and of course we subsribed. I make perfect puerto rican white rice but that's about it. I know it's over due but our kitchen is going to be puerto rican. I miss puert rico too. Went sooo many times. You feel like home thank you so much. Dios Te Bendugas to you and your family and friends 😊
I had this as a child and couldn't remember what it was called... I knew it was sweet and had meat in it! I made potato balls yesterday, looks like I'm going to try this today!
There is something similar to this in alot of West African cuisines .... In Ghana Its called Titale ...its more like a fritter tho - In general the love of pairing sweet bananas with savory meats or sauces is a very African thing
Never seen that before , but looks like a super tasty twist on one of my favorite snacks: empanadillas. Nicely done. You videos are excellent and I see you no longer wear rings when cooking 😜 Keep up the videos-buen provecho!!!
Hola Ida. Great recipe, demonstration and video. 👍 I am going to try this recipe this weekend for a friends party. My friend is Caucasian but they love Puerto Rican food...ESPECIALLY mine (lol). I am going to try bake these instead of frying them... but first I have 2 questions: 1. As far as taste of true Puerto Rican flavor...el "Saborrrrrr Puertorriqueño" (thats my Puerto Rican style "r" rolling tongue lol)...which tastes better, fried or baked? And is there a difference in taste either way cooked? 2. When baking what do you suggest I preheat oven to and for how long to bake?
All your recipes look mouth watering!!! I cant wait to try this recipe. I would love for you to upload a video on how to make the banana boats filled with meat.
These are amazing thanks for the video, I do have a quick question though, I tried making them and my mixture was too sticky, was it because it needed more flour? TIA
Hi ida! Quick question! Where is the link to buy your cookbook? I remember you had one a while back but can't find the link ! Thanks for your delicious videos!
Will be trying this recipe soon. They look yummy. I could not make out what you were saying when you were sitting at the table with the empanadas all cooked; sounded as if someone had their hand on the microphone.
