Hi and welcome back! Today I made for you a empanadilla or empanada dough . Empanadillas are a a go to snack in Puerto Rico. You can fill them with almost anything! The bowl I used to cut out the discs measures 6 inches across.
Here are the ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup ice water
1/2 cup ( 1 stick) salted butter, cold
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 egg
About 1/2 cup of all purpose flour for dusting

I followed this video and I made this dough today. I have all my discs cut and waiting in the refrigerator for me to fry tonight. I have my meat ready as well. Thank you so much for showing us how to make the dough. My local store doesn’t have any Goya products and this will come in handy if I don’t feel like driving a half hour to buy the discs. Love it. Btw, I think I made about 12/14 discs from this recipe. Thanks again!!!!

I made this for Thanksgiving & my husband couldn't believe that it was homemade. It was amazing. I've tried several recipes of yours & they are all wonderful. I live in Hawaii & it's very difficult to get discs here. Now, I will never have to buy them again. Thank you!!!

i love empanadas and i make them all the time. the main reason i watched this tutorial was to know how to make the dough from scratch and you did an excellent job, very explicit. making them from scratch will cost way less than buying a package of discos every time i want to make them. thanks so much!

I've been craving empanadas for a while. The only person who could make them was my late grandmother. When I saw your video and learned how to make the dough from scratch. Every one loves it ! My co-workers ask me to make it all the time. Your a amazing cook!

Having relocated from NYC to NC I find it difficult finding a supermarket that sells ingredients that I can use when cooking Puerto Rican dishes. Your website has made my cooking so much easier. One of my favorite things to make and eat! My mother, sisters and I would get together and make these. The funny part about making them was we couldnt wait until they were all cooked..as they came out, we each would have one..fun memories and laughter..thank you for sharing Aida..

Great toutorial! I've been making empanadillas for years, and I buy the frozen pre made discs and they're ok. But I cannot wait to make my own dough! so easy, I expect it to be more complicated. Thank u for this!

I've tried to make dough for several years and I always through it away because it just doesn't look right for I think in my mind that it is wrong. Thank you so much for this video I was amazed on how simple you made this. I have 2 big projects coming up and I was going to buy Discos/Grande but the expense was going to be astronomical. Now all I have to do is use the ingredients that I have in my kitchen. No cost...wow. I will start my dough tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thank you.

This empanada dough was hands down amazing. So flaky and soft but the edges still had that crunch. The best part that it was simple to make! My empanadas tasted even better.

im making the dough right now im pregnant so ive been craving this for a while now yes is late but with im hungry and i want to eat EMPANADILLAS cant wait my mouth just waters just thinking about it. ill send a picture when im done. I grew up with mami making these from scratch. She, too, made them with the picadillo but also with guava and queso de papa. Yum!! I need to buy a rolling pin now. Thanks mamita!!!

A friend from Endures showed me how to make Pastelitos a long time ago. I forgot how she made the dough, and although this is not the same as she showed me, Im sure it will work for my needs. Thanks

I haven't been able to find empanada shells here in Sweden. I'm absolutely going to try this recipe, thank you! Now if only I can find some guava paste and cheddar 😋😋😋

Nice you explained it step bye step with dough I loved it , now I am going to watch all your cooking videos later. I made them and I had a tough time becaurse I did not find a good size circle yet. But I made a lot of meat so I will refridgorate the meat. Question Can I put the empanads I made n the refridgator cover and cook some tomorrow or do I fry them all tonight. Lori from NJ

I used a food processor on pulse and it speed up the process. It works wonderful!

Hi Ida!! I've been watching most of your videos and in this vide you say we can freeze the dough for later use. Do you know how long it will be good in the freezer? Up to a month?

Wonderful! I've been wanting to learn this so much, the frozen goya discos are always hard on the edges or cracked.I've seen a few videos on how to make them homemade but as always, you make it so much easier :-)will be trying this very soon. Thank you!!

I tried the frozen discs in the supermarket although they tasted good, there is nothing like making your own dough. I am going to make my own. Thanks.
