Amazing performance from Tiger Jam!! With John Mayer and Keith Urban performing together, I'm really glad they became good friends. Thanks to @cspannie Follow me on Twitter: / blakedaymond
I love how between 4:51-5:30 Keith plays these complex riffs on the mid-ish frets of the lower strings. This allows John to be a little bit more creative with those jazzy riffs higher up on the frets. I wish they made an album together with music just like this. But the way record labels are these days, this unfortunately wouldn't happen :(
I'd guess both have big enough names to make any collab album somewhat commercially viable. Mayer & Urban on an entire album would be spectacular indeed, brilliant artists who compliment each other perfectly both as guitarists and singers!
the coolest part about these 2 is they seem completely different john over there with his eyes closed just feeling the music and keith rocking out head banging and getting with the music yet they both work together so freaking well it’s amazing
I like it that John Mayer doesnt stick to blues and pop only. other artists just say that they dont want to play in other styles because they dont dare and think it will not sell anymore or wont be as good as usual
Both of these guys are fabulous guitar players. To say otherwise is to short change both of them. They play different styles, both can play lightly or shred as necessary. Enjoy them for what they do and be glad they are both around to be listened to...
John’s solo and guitar tone is beautiful. The fact that he can never duplicate that solo ever again and it was all on the spot played with feeling makes him one of the greatest we’ll ever see
This is fucking great. Keith is a great player, all tight, stinging melodic bends and sweet runs, but he is also totally generous here and gives John lots of space to play his looser, improv jazz-inflected bursts of rhythm and melody. Works really well together, really rocking, authentic take on the song.
wow bro or sista , your just totally hating John Mayer. there's no way in hell you can put down John Mayer's ability to play the Guitar. Just because he produces a different style of music than you like the guy can play the Guitar. every style every beat every rhythm and, PLAYS THEM ALL GREAT. When he just jams like no one ever to music. Now as for Keith Urban........... WOW. I had no idea this guy could jam like that. NO IDEA this guy at all (thought he was just a country singer) but this guy jams. they play GREAT together. its an interesting combo that works.
Nothing here is truly improvised I believe - these are things guitarists of this caliber have touched up on many times- that said, if one had to pick a couple of guys to plead one’s case in front of St Pete at the gate with only six-string at hand, one would have to go with John for his playing and Keith for his spirit- divinity from minute 4 onwards....
@@fgb4159fr tho, however many yrs it is later I still think these guys didn’t give af about the audience by the outtro. By the 3:30 mark they were talking to God together
I personally think his two best albums were his live ones Try! and Where the Light Is. This man is a musical genius. He can play the guitar like no one has ever seen before, acoustic or electric, and can sing just as incredibly!
John starts his magic about the 4:00 mark, it's just moving to watch and listen to what he is really hearing and his ability to play it. It just ooozzz out of him and his guitar.
Being one of the biggest JM fans on the planet, I can say that Urban played a really melodic solo, and comped ingeniously for John. The two meshed beautifully.
I agree. You can see that in some of the older guys famous for guitar. The ones who stuck to their one genre became tired and repetitive, where as their peers who branched out are mostly still going strong. And its on both sides just like the two in the video. Clapton and Willie Nelson for example. Old dudes rockin it. You should check out some of Willie's work outside of his famous country stuff, its amazing. And Clapton has jump started his career several times in different genres.
Awesome. Love John's solo and his interpretation of the chorus on guitar. Not digging his new look, but guess that doesn't matter. All about the Music!
Its honestly rare to see another guitarist keep up with john, especially someone whos main platform is just the guitar. Keith really shows off his chops, hes definitely on John's level, really impressive
@obga18 its hard to notice but he actually has his fender plugged in if you look at the amp left of his knees you can see the wire... i think he might of been adjusting the volume of his ear plug-ins
@obga18 can you not see the rather long cable looped through the strap and then draped behind him? I've never known Mayer to go wireless. I know Clapton does and I'm pretty sure that Buddy Guy does but not Mayer.
Who says he cant try different genres? I play guitar and i play multiple genres and if i ever get famous i dont plan on limiting myself to one style, more styles means a better player
I did not realize how tall John Mayer was...unless Keith Urban is exceptionally short? I'm not a fan of country, but I did like this, mainly cause of John...
he isn't a poser... when you can play as good as him, sticking one genre gets boring after a while. it's called widening your horizons.. ever heard of it?
