Set your compound slide to 30 degrees when turning threads. Love the show and the attention to detail when fabricating.

Channeling my inner Jimbo today -- building a pair of security gates with a decorative pattern in the cross bars. Lots of welding in tight spaces.

When you flip your part over to countersink a drilled hole, try setting it on top of vise, just holding it with one hand. As you come down with countersink in the hole the part is free floating and self locates. I have never had a countersink grab enough to spin or raise the part. Just be sure to run em slow in back gear or if in high gear sometimes ill turn the spindle off just before lowering it the part n kiss it as the spindle is slowing down.

Jim, I am always amazed at how clean and tidy your shop is. I'm of the same mindset. There is nothing more frustrating and time-consuming than a messy shop where you can't find anything. I love this design. I want to put and small crane on the back of my truck for picking up logs and I may just use this concept in my build. Thank you for sharing!!

This gives me an idea for a swivel stand for. My 4" vise so I don't have to have it on top of my welding table. I don't have a setup like jimbo. It's literally one wall of my garage

Great job on that anvil stand. That should last a long time and look good doing it. I like how you really welded it up good and used heavy duty material. I was raised around horse shoeing my entire life and I can't stress how important it is to have a solid stable stand for your anvil. Great job

Have you considered cutting grooves into the inner shafts to accept the grease from the grease fittings? Such a tight Fi on a smooth shaft will be hard to accept the grease. I love watching your videos and at 73, I wish I had started welding when I was much younger.

When you’re cutting threads, you need to set your compound to 30* so you’re cutting with the leading edge of the tool. If you feed in from 90, you are cutting both sides and basically tearing rather than cutting. Touch off and set your zero on both the compound and cross slide, and you’re good to go.

Hey jimbo can you do a video showing how you take measurement? Like say a handrail. Or a platform with stairs? How do you do elevation? Or angle for handrail? Rise and run. Building is straight forward once you have plans. But how do you get plans if there not provided?
