Corrine was a fashion designer before she joined SWINGOUT SISTER! She actually had SADE as a roommate at fashion design school! Two beauties who have great vocals!
I agree, Dlweddl68! In my day to day life, I experience no Swingout Sister. Either fans or airplay (SiriusXM) or otherwise. That doesn't stop me from listening to their music.
In my opinion their two first albums was the finest albums ever. Then they are slightly decline started from "Get in touched with yourself" "Living Return" they are return to form in "Shapes and Pattern" but after that their music was complete darker than before that make me disappointed.
@@h7283 That’s not true! The Eighties were a great time growing up to young adult! The music was just from the artists themselves and was from the heart! Today’s music is written by robots and computer nerds and sung by the youngest hot little thing they can find to lip sync in concerts!
Swing Out Sister is arguably one of the best bands of the 80's and a great star of the sophisti-pop movement. They are extremely underrated and especially overlooked here in the USA. "Filth and Dreams" is one of my favorite albums by them and too bad it did not receive a worldwide release.
I share your regret that Swing Out Sister and those other wonderful bands from the UK aren't promoted here in the United States. That's why I like reading the comments. I find hidden music treasures to listen to.
I had never heard of them until I spent a month one summer in Madrid. Breakout was brand new and I was hooked. But here at home almost no one knows who they are. So under rated and under appreciated.
I remember when they first came out on the music scene 1986 with Breakout , that was part of the album 'it's better to travel. I used to go to a nightclub during that time and there was a young lady who obviously styled herself the same as this lady. These type of songs bring back real nostalgia , sadly I don't think pop groups know how to produce music like this anymore !
The '80's were fraught with the dangers of AIDS, the Cold War and Stock, Aitkin and Waterman records but we had cool music like this to get us through. Also Grace Jones Slave To The Rhythm, Jealous Guy by Roxy Music and Captain Of Her Heart by Kurt Maloo.
Younger people fooled by auto-tune, auto-rhythm, etc., will have no idea the incredible control that this woman has over her own voice. Like the music or not, her playful attitude toward pitch somehow always ends up on key. A real talent!
Max Hughey: Absolutely! But she and her band mates come from classical/jazz training...sadly, you don't have that in mainstream music these days anymore...
Swing Out, Brand New Heavies, Lisa Stansfill, Level 42 and several others had that particular sound that described a beautiful time during the late 80s early 90s. I loved that sound they had and sad to say it, it can't be duplicated.
En 1987 yo tenía 18 años, fue uno de los mejores años de mi vida. Esa música me recuerda esa época. Me siento afortunada de habérlos vivido. :-) Ahora tengo 50 años...el tiempo vuela...
I try to figure out why I like every single one of their songs. it's very unusual to like all the songs from one group no matter who they are. I guess it has to do with her amazing vocals and their soul R&B Jazz infused popular music with their unique and creative videos are all pretty cool. Definitely the quality of her voice
sos singer Corinne Drewery is so pretty . I've heard her speak in several interviews, read from people who worked with her in recording sessions and people who have met her say she's quite modest , good natured, makes jokes about herself etc - not a speck of egotism in her . she is such a dear .
In 1986 is when I first fell in love with Corrine with SWINGOUT SISTER’s debut: It’s better to travel! Big fan ever since she mesmerizes me with her beautiful vocals and knock out looks! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😘😘😘💋💋💋🥰🥰🥰 By the time: Am I The Same Girl came out In 1992 I had just graduated college with my bachelors degree and moved to California to start my masters degree at UCLA…time flies!
How true. They're wildly popular in Japan, though. In fact, they sell about as much as the Japanese band Dreams Come True, another male/female duo that also started out as a trio. Their lead singer, Miwa Yoshida, has a voice that's a lot like Corinne's.
Remember "watching" them in concert in the Philippines in the late 80s. I said "watching" because there was a huge column between me and the stages. Still enjoyed the concert though.
The songwriting's really excellent here as well as the tune and arrangements. I'm surprised this top notch song isn't generally recognised as the absolute classic it undoubtedly is.
Swing out sister's music never gets stale. They have been given great injustice by recorders producers radio stations world wide. Their music is like a well made well maintained strong Jaguar XJ12 . Go Swing out Sister go. You are being appreciated nevertheless
In this group and their songs is : summer, optimism, power, enjoying life, sun, love, passion. Very fine music, uptempo, nice orchestra in background!😊
Just amazing how every one of their songs is so so good. In times like these now, we need to get back to the times when this type of music was made. It almost breaks my heart that these times have past.
Yeah you know me and this band it deserved more credits it really did really does and I remember this being I bet you a lot of people from the '80s forgot about this band they need to remember this being somehow
All the years have gone by. And, Corrine, I didn't even know your name till I was listening early this morning. You've blessed my life with your angelic voice. Thank you and happy belated birthday.
