This group was so good back in 1987, they had such a cool vibe that you just could not stop listening to them. Honestly how could you not love this group?
"...YOU ARE LIVING IN A TWILIGHT WORLD!" This song is not only a beautiful memory! 34 years after this song was a hit, we are "LIVING IN A TWILIGHT WORLD!"
How many of us who were teens at the height of this groups career couldn’t wait to be adults🤦🏾♀️ I’m 50 now and how I wish I could go back.🙄 To the kids now ... take your time and enjoy it cause it goes by fast. Always loved this group!!🥰
@David Brooks. You know what bro... this takes me back to a much simpler time in more 48yrs. I can remember sitting in my living room watching this video on a day just like the one you see in this video and just being blown away by this song and how fitting the song was for a day like that.
You should check this song on the album with the extended remix. This is when her voice was really young. I agree, really awesome voice & awesome song! I loved that they used big band sound in pop music!
"Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts", if there ever were a quote to commit to... this is definitely one. God I was in my early 20's, when this song came out. Still love it, and this band. Cheers!!
Corrine Drewry is such a unique talent, not to mention also an incredible singer. Not to mention, also, very beautiful! This band & Corrine go together quite well, they have so many wonderfully good songs. It's hard to pick out a favorite song from them for me, but, I think this is the one.
All of these Swing Out Sister videos are bringing back so many memories, of better times when life was simpler and there was more love and less division. Thanks for creating such brilliant music 🎼 ❤❤❤
I was so young but I looked forward to a particular music video show every Sunday , it featured style council, Johnny hates jazz, Abc, Terence, Swing out sister, Banarama, Mel and Kim . So much nostalgia from this song
Corrine Drewery Superior vocals along with slick chord melodies and string fills. This is a great smooth groove still hittin in 2021 and don't forget the horns. 🎺 🎺 🎷 🎷🎶 🎶
The 80's were class. Adults were adults back then. Such an elegant maturity that is harder to find in 2023. It's there but you have to look deeper now. Back then it was right there on the surface.
1986 and I was a senior in high school and I was absolutely in love with Corinne Drewery💋😘❤️🥰😍 I was on cloud 9 thinking about her and her beautiful voice!
i was 9 years old when this song came out and it was MY JAM. however, i’d always sang it “don’t be fooled by love songs and lollipops” 😂 i am just now correcting those childood misheard lyrics and find that i still love this tune ❤️
So many memories tied up with Swing out Sister and a time when I was just starting out in life, finding romance and listening to these amazing songs. I wish they were still being played on the radio.
The whole era/genre of sophisti-pop that briefly graced the UK in the mid 80s is a greatly under appreciated time in music. EBTG, Style Council, Prefab Sprout, Aztec Camera and those couple years of Joe Jackson’s Steppin Out era are my favorite bands of that time. There was some top notch songwriting going on, with post punk stalwarts, whom all of a sudden, weren’t afraid to be catchy and well-produced.
Sophisti-pop is exactly what i love the most from the 80s and 90s pop music. When i say i like 80s pop songs people think about the generic jumpy songs that we all heard, but not songs like this one, the instrumentation and melody is just superb, it's stuff that is very hard to find nowadays. Thanks for giving me that term, it describes exactly what i like.
I thank the Heavenly Father for the gift of music. Music is like a kaleidoscope! Every color within the spectrum is mood changing that enhances your spirit. I love Swing Out Sister to death! Their music is a blend of sophisticated pop and jazz. Every note within their music is like a fine aged wine. I really wish I could see them in person live.
Brainstory, Torii Wolf, BadBadNotGood, Nick Hakim, Bobby Orozo & Cold Diamond, Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes etc.. quality music is out there its just the masses aren't listening.
The first time I heard this song was on WKYS in DC. Donnie Simpson had just returned from a vacation in the UK and he made a point of saying he was going to play a song that was out of format because it blew him away so much. This song has been in my head ever since then. You know it's something special when someone so deeply connected to the R&B community takes 5 minutes of time to play it on his drive-time show...classic.
I’ll never understand how some awesome songs don’t chart very well. I listened to the radio all through the 80’s and this is better than many many other songs that went Top 10.
Not entirely true. Swing Out Sister still does. Unfortunately, radio's more or less checked out on them, and I suspect Corinne and Andy don't really mind. They're happy doing their own thing musically.
I'm an extreme metal head but I love this song and so many others that this group has made ♥️. Thanks to my mommy dearest for listening to this music. I can't forget growing up and hearing this song and so many other from the 80's, and 90's that she listened to 😊. It's stuck with me and grown on me as I got older.
When i was younger I confused her with Basia as they sound alike.. too bad they didn't do a collaboration! They're in the same kind of genre as is Sade...
This song and the album it's from, always reminds me of the care free days of my youth. There songs and style at the time, was a breath of fresh air to the pop world...and that's saying something from someone who is a die hard Prog fan. There jazz undertones accompanied with fantastic melodies left me with an everlasting impression. Swing out Sister has to be one of the world's most underrated bands and song writer's.
🎼 Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts you're different in the twilight world 🎵 Thirty+ years later the song is still a pleasure to the ears!
My daughter used to play this to me before she was born, now my mother has made us some moon pies and we are all dead. 🏊🏊🙋🎑🌙🌕🌕🌛🌛🐸🐸🐸🙌🙌🚶🎑🐹🐹🐭🐭🐭🚅🚀🌜🐹🐹🌚🌚🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃👽👽👽👽👽👽😷😷😷💀💀💀☠️☠️☠️💀💀💀💀💀
This music takes me back to time in the RAF in the 80’s. Young, fit and carefree. As long as I had enough money for a ferry ticket back to the UK from Belgium I was happy. Married the best woman I knew in 88. Still together as parents and grandparents!!!
To me, Swingout Sister defines the late 80s. I wonder why nobody. Sings their songs at karaoke bars nowadays? Twilight World represents a bygone era of secure and care-free international travel. How appealing. I love her velvety voice. It IS better to travel.
Back in the late 80's when I wore a young man's uniform, this song sounded so eerily like a James Bond theme that the kids in my intelligence unit played this constantly. It was "our jam". Brings back some good memories of comrades gone by. Swing Out Sister, and Corrine Drewery. Thank you both!
Jean-Etienne du Nordovest If you think THAT sounded "James Bond-ish, you should listen to Swing Out Sister's "Here and Now". Now that DEFINITELY sounds like an opening theme to a "James Bond" movie.
Sittin' at Mac and Don's last night and this came on their PA system....Wow...The beats...The melody...took me back to Germany when was in the military...Got the same sound like Sade'.....Smooth and easy....Makes you wanna crank it up while you "motorin' down the AutoBahn at 160 kph....No Politzei in sight.....No speed limits....Life was delissimo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carla Linton. I love ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Swing Out Sister. They are one of my favorite Bands of the 80s. One of my favorite songs by Swing Out Sister is called. Twilight World. This is one of my favorite Old School Jams back in the day.
Great music, fantastic group! Twilight World! It's twilight world It's twilight world Time out World in a hurry There's more love than money changing hands Lights out Thinking out loud Turn your back on the world outside Night thoughts No one can share As darkness breaks through another day Secrets Talking out loud Silence waits just a dream away Forget lonely crowds, unfriendly faces They'll soon became familliar places Before too long, before too long Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts You're living in a twilight world Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts Don't give in to the twilight world Time out World in a hurry There's more love than money changing hands Lights out Thinking out loud Turn your back on the world outside Forget lonely crowds, unfriendly faces They'll soon became familliar places Before too long, before too long Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts You're living in a twilight world Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts Don't give in to the twilight world Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts You're living in a twilight world Don't be fooled by love songs and lonely hearts Don't give in to the twilight world
