since it supports matter, I am optimistic it will not take long until we get it. Really hoping for it as well. The mechanical design looks really nice.
Non of these "toys" are going to come close to replacing the Harminy Ultimate Hub+Remote. Logitech BLEW it when they decided to discontine the product line of Harmony remotes.
I still use Harmony remotes everywhere, with an old Mac to program them. I really don’t understand what went through Logitech’s mind. Really. They still are the best in my opinion.
I forgot how much SwitchBot's ecosystem had evolved since the introduction of the original Bot, but this looks to me like it could or might be something like the Sofabaton X1S but without the software security issues that has (according to what I read online) and managed by a mobile app with a better UX. (Edit: it seems that unlike with the Sofabaton remote, the hub isn't included and I'd havs to buy a separate SwitchBot Hub 2 as well to get the functionality I want. Interesting, but could also allow for multiple hubs and one remote or vice versa.) Someone else commented about Home Assistant support, which may be interesting if it does as I don't currently have any other SwitchBot products (I plan to get some in the future) and my other IoT products are spread across 3 ecosystems that I then bridge using Home Assistant.
I have one of those high end smart tv from Samsung the remote is all brushed metal aluminum and it has only 4 buttons but it does control xbox and also ps5 its weird
Unrelated, but when will there be an update to the Matter integration for Apple HomeKit? It's quite confusing to learn which devices are updated to support the new SwitchBot Hub which will in turn with with HomeKit :)
I bought one of these. It's a nice device, but there are some limitations that hopefully will be ironed out. The biggest issue is that not all remotes that you have in the Hub 2 (e.g. that you have captured) can be transferred, this is completely counter intuitive. I have 2 STBs that I can use with the Hub 2, but can't transfer to the Universal Remote, surely this is just firmware ? The Bluetooth remote pairing is great, but I can't get it to control 2 Apple TVs. If the above would be fixed, this would be a killer device in my opinion.
Press circle to pause and play and the side buttons to rewind and fast forward. I don’t see why anyone would need a record button as cable is pretty much outdated.
If your Sky TV has Matter, that will basically guarantee it, but I don't know if it does honestly. Won't be able to tell about IR programming until it comes out likely.
I feel that going with white was a bad design decision for something that is touched often, including maybe by kids even. It’s going to look awful pretty quick I think. But I guess time will tell. I’m happy someone else is in the market making universal remotes though.
@@scrp1oyea Switchbot is super misleading. They only support TVs for the remote. Supposedly updates are coming but I'm surprised they call themselves a universal remote with it lacking so many functions of a true universal remote.
Great unfinished product... Advertising FireTV support or any IR appliances, even the damn S10 that is first party... all don't work yet. I was confused when i got my remote today and almost nothing worked, had to go through a faq to find out i'll have to wait a month for a firmware update?! Why release a product when it's unfinished?
Support for Home Assistant and complete Offline working, and you atleast have 10 orders from me for my Joint Family House. zinternet requirement or no Home Assistant support, and I am out already, even if it is a great product.
these days just use my phone... all my lights, my tv, my ac, why would I need a remote. im never without my phone or smart watch or laptop or smart device.
Might come in an update one day, until then you'll at least be able to enjoy some insanely awesome home automation and be able to control all your devices at home too.
After watching review videos everywhere, it is clear this is still a beta controller with a lot of potencial, but that can not yet deliver. Maybe in a couple of months or a second version this can be something, right now it is just a pass.
