I signed up for T-Mobile a few months ago and was happy to have the Spectrum monster out of my life. They are a bad company and thieves. After the installation was complete it has worked flawlessly for 4 months now. My wife thought I was foolish to make the change, but I haven't heard a peep from her about it.
Spectrum has been nothing but a nightmare to deal with? Zero customer service and if you actually get a human being you can’t understand them or they will lie to you about anything? It’s a pathetic company and I will never do business with them again! So far T-Mobile has been a good company that has a good product. And right now the price is good also.
Thank you for your information.Switched to Spectrum to save money and paid the lower price for just a few months.Everybody warned me about the constant price hikes at Spectrum and I just found out that it is true. At the end of my promotional period, the monthly fee for basic internet would be $79.99 which is a far cry from the $49.99 at start up. They also charge an extra $5 for Wi-Fi. Time to switch!
I left Spectrum after being with them for nearly 20 years. Their service started getting horrible, my speeds would slow to a crawl and they didn't know what was causing the issue. I went with AT&T Fiber and I'm so glad I did. I'm currently on the 500 mbps plan for $60 a month. But I get higher speeds. I get over 600 mbps download and 600 mbps upload with AT&T fiber.
You're right!...using an ethernet cable from the gateway to the PC gives you greater speed. I've been with T-Mobile for about three years now, I am very happy.
Im happy with T Mobile service also ! Xfinity always has outages in my area for hours while T Mobile is still up and running. I do have to reboot the modem often to correct speed loss tho.
spectrum tried to up charge my monthly to 75 when I was paying 50 I decided to cancel then they said they could bring it back down to 50 to try to get me back.. I said too late already my mind is made up.. I've been using T-Mobile home internet ever since for 30.
Yeah I'm just like you I've been with spectrum 5 years and I've had problems with spectrum ever since I've been with them no internet or internet down but it's like every time I turn around my bill was going up 39.99 to59.99 to 79.99 and just two days ago I found out it went up to 89.99. I am on a strict budget I live by myself I pay all my bills.
Are you still with Spectrum or did you switch? If you are still with Spectrum, you can call them up and tell them that you are considering going to another provider because of the cost increase and ask them to give you a "new promotional pricing deal" in order to get you to stay with them.
I tried Tmobile internet over year ago and service was not good enough. Recently went to try it again with the new white gateway that allows external antenna. I purchased the waveform mini stuck it to the window. Getting 700mb down and around 50 up. Had ir for a month now and still running good
I left rectum hhmmm I mean spectrum for T-Mobile home internet and haven’t looked back!! Been with T-Mobile for over a year now only lost service once due to tower maintenance after midnight once with rectum I lost it at minimum for once a month and I’m only paying 30$ a month with 2 lines so I’m not looking to switch!!
I had the Spectrum $49 a month internet-only service. After three years with them, the price has gone up to $89 a month for internet only. I'm looking for a better deal.
Definitely call up Spectrum and let them know that you are thinking of switching providers due to the cost increase and they will get you a new promotional price.
Spectrum works fantastic but they are also the most expensive in my area. I pay $91.50 per month. Which is extremely high. And it keeps going up and up for the same service plan. Why? They cab't explain it either. They just say everything gets more expensive. Not a good answer!
T-Mobile is terrible in New York even though they have dense networks their n41 does not go far at all because of that. I'm 0.6 miles from two towers and I can't get over 10 MB Lol so much for that
I had t-mobile over a month now and I’m still getting almost 600 download speed and haven’t had a problem yeat with them and I got wireless service now and it’s better than att service.
Hey bud, I’ve had T-Mo for the longest time. I’m on a very old Grandfathered plan: - $30 Unlimited - 50GB Cap on 5G then slows down - Binge-On feature which means when you use streaming services like RU-vid, Hulu, Netflix, etc. your Data is not counted toward the 50GB - Unlimited calling and text to Mexico and Canada - Unlimited calls and text while Roaming in Mexico and Canada - free Data roaming in 144 countries - free In-Flight hotspot data - 10GB hotspot data Unfortunately where I live the signal is horrible. I use WiFi Calling while inside my home, but 10 miles radius around my home it’s 💩💩💩 I live in Carlsbad, CA. and T-Mo is horrible… mid to south of county is amazing; but north is the nicer part of SD and higher income then the rest of county. Got any plan you can think of? I’m considering Verizon or Spectrum Mobile
I just got off the phone with spectrum and everything yiu said that the person said the lady I was on the phone with, she started to get upset that I didn’t want the free phone es 😅
I hated their stock modem. I researched and bought a Chester modem. Fully compatible with T-Mobile plus I installed a external antenna in about 10 seconds. Now I get 500 down and 20 to 30 up. No matter what I could not make T-Mobile home internet compatible with Amazon errro mesh networks. Even with the Chester modem the Wi-Fi would drop once in awhile and devices all over the house with disconnect. I boxed up that mesh Network and then I bought Asus Routers and turn them into a mesh Network. Now my Wi-Fi never drops and everything plugged in gets ping times as low as 18. I definitely had to do the external antenna since the towers were eight miles away. I highly recommend the Chester modems to everyone that has T-Mobile home internet. I live in the country so my service never ever slows down. There is no peak times since I'm in between two small towns that both offer a cable modems at 50 to $60.
Possible solution. I was having connection issues via ports the ports too. I was mistakenly using a cat5e cable. Make sure you use a cat6. I also have 5 users in the house and I have noticed very minor delay compared to another provider.
Hello great video, I went from Allo to T-Mobile the uploads are a little slower but at 10:30pm I ran a speed test and got 1.2Gbps we are less than 1 mile away from the tower also. So far it has been good and stable and I have the new white modem/router and it works very well so far imagine if you could find an aftermarket device to do the job!!
Wow! That’s very interesting, the only thing is that not everyone is “eligible” to signup online at their address but I guess for the people who can then this would be great!! Everyone else who “isn’t eligible” would still have to physically go in and sign up for the service in store.
@@coleyounger5689 you get 15 days free. After that if you use a debit card the monthly charge is $50 if you use a credit card the charge is $55. The gateway doesn’t cost anything, however, you have to put a credit card or debit card on file if it’s not turned in, it would be something like a 350 or 375 charge, I can’t remember exactly how much. It’s a pre-pay program, so after your 15 days you’ll get the $50 or $55 charge. I just noticed that if you sign up now you get two different security cameras for free. I didn’t read much about it so you might want to read the fine print. Good luck.
I live in the Los Angeles area same as others here getting tired of spectrum jumping up the price. By any chance can anyone here offer any feedback regarding the service in the LA area
What "I" suggest, is calling up Spectrum and letting them know that you are shopping around because of the price and are going to switch. 9/10 times they will offer you a lower price to keep you as a customer.
The T-Mobile guy told me that I only had 15 days to try it and I don't want to bite the bullet just yet because as soon as I approve the link it starts. Been with Spectrum for about 15 years or so and the price has gotten ridiculous. I have 2 TV boxes, WiFi and landline. My bill started out being about $180 a month. Now my bill is up to $300 a month. I've requested them to take the DVR service off many times and they haven't even done that over the last 4 years. We have a small business and I'm always afraid of switching because I can't afford to be down very long. If it was just for personal use, I wouldn't care as much.
My spectrum service specifically gets incorrect power levels in the warmer months of the year. They would need to come out about twice a year toi adjust this cause they just don't plan for standard heat I guess. It's North Carolina, it's not crazy here! It's silly that spectrum made me switch. Going verizon 5g specifically, but cool to see this vid. Not a lot of info on this stuff out right now
The ugly truth for me is, I realized I was getting hosed. And, when I called to cancel after an arbitrary $20 increase, they offered my previous speeds at a $50 discount. Honestly, this ticked me off even more, and went ahead with the switch. My performance is mostly better, other than ping, but I'll work around that.
Have had T-Mobile for 3 months. No problems. $30 versus $80+ with Spectrum. I’m not a gamer nor do I work from home. Just need good internet. I’m happy.
I honestly miss my spectrum T-Mobile was good for a few months and it just seems to get worse and if you wanna game forget it the ping spikes make it unbearable at least spectrum I had solid internet with great ping
I might Leave Spectrum for T Mobile Internet tomorrow. im paying $80.00 a month for spectrum it's slow also the service goes in and out almost every hour i tried resetting the modem numerous times and still acting funny i'm gonna try t mobile for about two weeks. i live like 5 minutes away from a Metro By T Mobile building & I'm currently a customer for about 5 years for my Phone Service.
spectrum is the absolute WORST.. i had them for months and it was horrible it was slow, the connection would constantly drop. I switched and haven't had an issue since leaving them.
Old thread I know ! I love so far my service with Tmobile. I had ATt dsl wired service. Download was at best 2..5 and upload was 041. With Tmobile I get 100 down and 10 up when busy. Early mornings I've seen 300 down 20 upload. So yes I love Tmobile.
@@EB3Studios Isn't consistency more important than RAW speed? I would take a 100 Mbps connection that delivers it round the clock any day over a connection that might give me 300 Mbps some of the time and 30 Mbps other times.
I’m considering going to FWA as well and leave Spectrum because my promotional pricing ends in September. And I get 500 down by 20 up but I never hit those speeds. Plus in my area there’s a fair amount of disconnects.
I did the same. I got fed-up of their constant raising of their prize. am happy with Tmobile home internet. 4 tv plus 3 pc running at pulse ip cameras, and a ip phone. no issues.
I have optimum and was about to switch to T-Mobile for $30 because i have magenta Max and i was paying $40 with optimum with 300 Mbps and they told me they would match the $30 price plus give me another $5 off for autopay so they dropped it to $25/mo for the next year for the same package i had. So i stayed with optimum even though i was happy with the speeds on T-Mobile even during peak times.
I’m always happy to hear when people can save money!! What I’m noticing is that more and more of these companies are willing to give you additional deals just to keep you on as a customer in order to keep their customer churn up.
Switch to Tmobile home internet... only issue I have is... my magicjack phone service doesn't work correctly with it. I can receive calls but anytime I make an outgoing call, the person on the other end can't hear me. I've tried everything to get this to work... disabled SIP on my wifi router, plug the magicjack directly in the Tmobile hardware, etc... just can't seem to make it work.
Unfortunately, I have heard of the T-Mobile gateway being "picky" when it comes to certain VOIP services like MagicJack. T-Mobile currently has an offer designed specifically for Home Internet Customers from Ooma which I suggest checking out: promotions.t-mobile.com/Ooma?icid=HEIS_ISW_P_HMEINTRNET_KKDT3TURKLGPQUF432132
Unfortunately, this is the case with most every provider out there. It's all about providing service at the least amount of money possible for them to maintain their infrastructure.
tmobile wireless internet sucks i live in daytona beach fl on the beachside everytime beachside get busy my tmobile wireless internet peek time dose not stop till around 11:00 PM since im busy beachside that happens even when its slow tmobile service sucks and also tmobile internet use to be called clear that was owned by clearwireless home wireless internet back in 2010 to 2013 then sprint took over the service and it went to shit now sprint partner with tmobile now the wireless modem under tmobiles name only thing is when clearwireless owned it you could take the modem anywhere on the road or whatever and still have good service and you can do it with tmobile for but soon they will start locking location setting stay away from tmobile
how is it you guys in these videos are all "I've been spectrum for years" and yet your all paying introductory rates. Spectrum is $79 for 300mbit and $119 for 1gbit.
It's always been "Charter" Spectrum in my market and as long as people call in and ask for new promotional pricing they can get it (or else threaten to cancel, and then they will get it). That works in my area.
WOW, I didn't even know there was a difference based on your particular area? If I were you, I would call Spectrum and let them know that you want a "better price" for your internet; you can even tell them that you know someone in Wisconsin that pays less for their plan. Try to see if you can get it for $49.99 per month. If they won't do it, simply hang up and call again and speak to a different agent (as annoying as that is, sometimes it takes several agents until you can find one that will do it for you). You can also say that you are "considering" switching to T-Mobile internet and want them to match that price point. Best of luck!!
honestly with how spectrum has treated me id prefer literally anything else, the signal is constantly horrible, price is now 90 dollars a month (USD) for the lowest service, the customer service reps are almost always rude and treating me like crap, and so on.
If you just stream and watch movies yo be fine with tmobile, and it does download fast. The problem comes when playing online video games. It has really bad lag for most games where it becomes unplayable when playing online, I would recommend this for anyone that doesn't play video games
Thanks for the information. I'm retired so don't need a high-volume internet connection anymore, just web surfing and watching movies on streaming channels. I switched to Spectrum to get the cable internet reliability vs Frontier's poor service in my area. I don't have or want cable TV service. Spectrum had a few issues the first two months I was on the service (reboots required almost weekly) but since then its been solid. I know a T-Mobile network engineer (a REAL electronic engineer specializing is RF!) and T-Mobile was not yet through doing the Sprint consolidation and 5G internet upgrades in my are at that time (my buddy mentioned the Sprint consolidation was a royal PITA). Those upgrades were completed in late summer-2023 so I'll probably try T-Mobile's 5G internet early next year. I've had a Metro phone since 2014 and no issues with that T-Mobile budget phone service.
@@EB3Studios everything is very tight in the prices of all the internet companies wired fiber 300 compared to t-mobile its possible to get more speed but it runs wireless for the same amount i can just stick with wired and the upload speeds are matched. plus that amount usually doesnt matter anymore because you can run good on 200 mgbts
I switched to T-Mobile Home Internet from Spectrum here in Texas - just in the last 2 weeks. The speed is acceptable, and the device has been very reliable for me. (I do reboot it once a day.) I quit Spectrum because they have been unreliable in our neighborhood. If they had tried to dissuade me with the 'T-Mo slows down during peak times..." argument, I would have said - "And Spectrum has been out completely for 3 full days in the last 2 months." Now, issues you'll need to deal with on T-Mo HI: 1) Services that use your IP address to identify you. Certain games, and streaming services (notable Hulu) use your IP address to protect themselves against account sharing. T-Mobile HI changes your IP address dynamically. This means your "externally identified" IP address (what the rest of the world sees your IP address as) changes at the whims of T-Mobile. So services that use your IP address to identify you will have issues where they lock your account, claiming that you are accessing their services from multiple locations (even though you're still at your home). 2) Device (Gateway) placement is key... My signal strength changes even when the gateway is still in the same spot. But if I rotate it 1/8 or 1/4 turn, the strength comes back. So if I notice a speed issue, I check the iPhone app and see my signal strength. Then if it is low, I just adjust the position of the T-Mo gateway 1/8 turn, wait 10 seconds to see if the signal improves. Then move it again if it hasn't. This tends to clear up the signal issue, which appears to correlate with the speed issues. Over time, I've rotated it back and forth several times - the strength doesn't remain the same at the same position reliably. So periodically rotating it again (back to a previous position) seems to fix it. An external antenna would probably help this, but I don't want to take the thing apart if I can avoid it. 3) I may return to Spectrum and use the T-Mobile as a backup Internet (since I work from home, and the occasional Spectrum outages have been hampering my work). But I will switch to a cheaper Spectrum plan (I was actually on Spectrum Business, and paying a substantial premium price for it, but not getting improved service for the cost). In order to switch to Spectrum 'home' I have to wait 30-days after cancelling before they'll let me change over to their home plans. But even with both T-Mo and Spectrum combined, the cost will be less than the Spectrum Busines plan I was on...
An update on my adventures with T-Mobile Home Internet. I have been using it exclusively for about 9 months now. It is doing very well. In my neighborhood, when other neighbors complain about Spectrum being out, I'm still humming along just fine. I have purchased a VPN service (PureVPN - $2/month) to get their fixed IP address setup - for when I need it (certain work things require that I come from the same IP address, and changing the config for that every time I needed to connect was annoying). But other than that, everything has been working fine. The issues with the changing position of the box have completely gone away. I literally haven't touched it in months. I rarely reboot it now too. I did discover one thing that made it more reliable. On my internal router, I changed the DNS servers to use Google's DNS servers. I read somewhere that T-Mobile's were flakey, and were responsible for the occasional service failures (lasting minutes only). But once I changed to the Google DNS servers, I have not experienced any outages at all. I will say, I do not use T-Mobile's WiFi part of the box. I have a hard-wired Ethernet cable running to my home Mesh WiFi router. And that's where I setup the DNS configuration to point to Google's DNS. I do that because everything in my house was already setup to use my existing WiFi stuff, and with the Mesh, I get better coverage in all areas of my house. So I haven't needed to use the WiFi that came with the T-Mo device.
I am seriously considering trying Verizon or T Mobile 5g internet. Spectrum is the only wired provider here and they have a monopoly so the prices are ridiculous. Have you tried gaming with the 5G internet? I'm wondering how the latency of 5g compares to a traditional cable connection.
The latency "is" worse simply because it is a wireless connection. Check out my video here on my latest review of T-Mobile Home Internet where I also explain "how" to get a better price on Spectrum as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-off2COXUOq4.html
