Keep riding after a broken axle even if you don't have a replacement with you. Take apart the cv axle to keep more damage from happening to bearings.

Those vice grips or a set of fresh channel locks with sharp jaws will release those band clamps if you need to save that boot.

Hey guys, hope y’all going well. Good idea to share. I carry an outer CV like that under my seat for the same reason. I also carry a spare inner CV that I have cut down on a chopsaw to make it much smaller. But it’s basically a differential plug just in case you’re real far out and have to go through a bunch of mud and water.

joeymt3 we are doing good, hope you are as well. Yeah that’s a good idea about the inner cv. It’s expensive to keep axles and bearings and ball joints and basically a whole shop in your machine in case it breaks. Nice to know a couple tricks to get yourself out of a bind.

For anyone watching this, it’s a lot easier to just carry a long bolt, say 3/4” or so abd some washers

I just smashed the bearing race with a hammer, its hardened so it will break in pieces... work around and pop out all the balls then it will come right out....don't even have to remove tire!!!!
