The sides of the M sets haven't been cleaned that much. The cab sections appear to be full fibreglass, and have been painted, and the paind has a slight purple hint compared to the bare stainless steel.
Surely the Ksets have at least another 20yrs? When with the storms that will happen and power goes out or is reduced K and T sets become such a backup.
Phil can I ask, what's the current situation with the new intercity fleet (ie. guard door additions, testing phase, defects rectified, anymore arriving into Australia being among D Sets D1/D101, D36/D136, D54/D154 - D61/D161)? I feel like they haven't updated us in a very long while (at least in my views).
Apparently some of the final sets to be delivered from South Korea would have the modifications fitted already, however no one really knows if they’ve either already arrived or are still being modified overseas. As with the modifications being done locally here, they haven’t really shed any light on the actual progress yet, as far as I know.
I’ve always wondered the 8 car sets that are made up for of 2 4 car sets do they ever get uncoupled and got separate or do they stay coupled up till retirement
When I used to catch trains in the 80s, in the weekends 4 cars sets were quite common. There was a lot more trains that terminated in North Sydney rather than keep going to Chatswood. The North Shore line in the weekends got 15 minutes interval services. There were also 6 cars sets and 2 cars set (rare). Obviously can't do that with Waratah.
I find it interesting that while we are waiting for the "EMU" to enter service, we can enjoy the flowers and play the flute. 😅 Translation: EMU: Dsets. FLOWERS : Waratahs. FLUTE: Ksets.
