I'm having fun with the isomorphic keyboard layout on the deluge. It takes a little bit of getting used to but sure is a lot of fun. I especially like how easy it is to play some pretty fast pentatonic runs just like on a guitar.
All synth sounds other than the lead originated from The Korg opsix.

Interesting little machine. Never took a look at it. I wasn't expecting you to straight play the thing. Cool.

Thanks! I hardly ever do this. But this "keyboard" is actually quite a fun thing to play around with.

I don't know the instrument so I mostly listen rather than try to follow what you are doing. However, this is the first time I have seen someone use a kind of scale mode (Maschine speak) and play the buttons like a keyboard for any extended solo passages. I found it quite mesmerising. I think some beat boxes have great potential, long term, to become virtuoso instruments. You have a great, natural musicality and you understand harmony, counterpoint and modes but you have not lost your instinctive love of music making. Thank you. It's really inspiring to get your videos.

Thanks! It's always nice to hear that the content is appreciated. I think it's a bit of a double edged sword that the traditional piano keyboard has established as the primary interface to input notes into a synth. On one hand it's nice because it's always the same and feels familiar right away. On the other hand there are some very interesting and in my opinion better keyboard concepts. The problem is you have to learn how to play those first. I am unfortunately just not patient and disciplined enough to do that. It would be a different story if a new standard were to evolve to make the effort worthwhile. But that seems unlikely to happen any time soon. In the mean time keyboards like this one still invite us to be explored in a maybe a bit awkward but playful manner. This I think sometimes lead to just as interesting results as playing an instrument with proficient skills.

You’re fingers have adapted so well to the lay out dude🤘 I get the layout as a guitarist but it’s not feeling wuite natural yet! This is fantastic 🔥✌️➕❤️

Thanks! Yeah it's completely from different from playing a guitar. Upside down first of all, and the way the fingers move is entirely different as well. So muscle memory is of no help here. But after spending some time with it you quickly start noticing patterns you know on the guitar (3 frets, 2 frets, 2 frets for a penta scale for example) and the guitar knowledge turns out to be useful after all. I think the keyboards makes it fairly easy to play single note stuff, chords are a different story though...

@@easytiger1452 I feel ya man! like if I stop overthinking it and go where my fingers would on a fretboard, I am in the ball park area’ish. Every session I have with it, it teaches me something new, it’s such a black hole of learning and reward for me. Learning much from you and this video alone so thanks for that 🙏

Amazing! I'm new to.the Deluge. Would be cool to see in more depth how you adapted to this keyboard layout. I enjoy tapping around on it but wish I could make more sense of what I was doing

Loving your technique, sidechaining the filter with sawtooth and the negative lfo.. Great effect. 👍
