Excellent work by Mr. Vasiliev. I especially like how he doesn't show off or come way too close for comfort to accidentally injure his students.

Looks as if he's trying to hit Vasiliev with his fist while holding the stick. I don't see any use of the advantage of the long range of the stick, which is the hard part for disarming.

+SelfPL Part of disarming is luring someone into range for it and into a committed movement.

How about instead of trying to move with the stick, you get out of the way of it or you trap it. Also, I really want to see you try this against a HEMA practitioner with a broad sword.

Fwiw, if you ever get a chance to attend a Systema workshop give it a try. It seems counterintuitive, but the trick to winning knife or sword fights in this system is staying relaxed---which is not easy to do the first time someone swings a sword at you! But if you can get good at it, being soft often defeats being hard.
