He really understands music, hes not always the main character they are all insane in their own right and h e lets them shine too. Real musician T-Pain.
@@monochromedout This is the way. He's always used it like modulation just like we do with pedals. Nothing wrong with that at all. He's always had a beautiful voice and has old songs that he didn't use auto-tune on.
@@zedman11121When he was growing up he listened to a lot of jazz and when he first heard auto tune he thought that if he could make his voice sound like a trumpet blast then that’s amazing. He never thought it would turn into a whole “nobody can sing if they are using this” sort of thing.
you should watch his twitch streams sometimes. He is so insanely talented it's crazy. He still gets a lot of hate from purists from his autotune era as if that means he doesnt have talent but he is so good
T-pain put this whole show on RU-vid... every once and awhile a live performance is just MAGIC. Watch the whole performance...they created magic that night
This. I was in a community choir for a while. Not the same vibe, but we did a memorial service once, so everyone was already emotional and spiritually hungry. The crowd was packed and into it, feeding off what we were giving them, which fed us back, and it was just kind of a feedback loop. I'm a professional engineer, but there's no better word for what happens then than "magic".
@@mile3018 he said is the best cover he ever heard. I think Ozzy was going for that voice style some years of his career, but Tpain voice is just something else
T has said that he loves all genres of music. He’s wrote many country songs. He gets his harmonies from country. Takes bits from rock, funk, gospel, country in this one. This is an amazing cover
This is really one of the best covers ive ever seen, not only keeping the essence of War Pigs but adding the gospel part and everything that is them to it its just so fucking good.
I'm a white bass player. In 80s I played in all black R&B groups. I noticed that not only were they phenomenal players but the listen to everything. R&B, rock, country. From zep to yes to maze
I've listened to Black Sabbath recordings of this song for 50 plus years. I must say T-Pain and his band really put their stank on War Pigs. I mean what a cover! Would really like to see Ozzy's reaction to this cover. Not since Iron Maiden's cover of Cross Eyed Mary or Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence have I been this excited for a cover song. Chills!
That churchy organ coming in at the end was everything, and what a cool thematic element to bring to this song in particular. Perfect execution of cover, honoring the original while still making it completely their own
Reminds me of what a music teacher once told us: “Music… CAN be ANYthing & played by ANYone.” And these cats REALLY have a handle on this song. That was incredible!
Probably never would have listened to a T-Pain song except for encountering something like this.. This was such a cool take on a great classic.. All of them were on fire!
This was actually cool. I love when artist takes a track and makes it theirs while still giving that special something to the original. Pure love. Much respect.
transcendent - the feel, the energy, the sound, the precision was just beyond this world. They kept the core of the song while completely changing it and making it their own, and they completely nailed it!
I haven't even started this yet but do yourself the favor and watch this whole set! It's pretty short but his "Shout" into "Never too much" by Luther Vandross is GREAT!
Glad YT reccomended you to me. Seeing different genres mesh is what I like hearing the most. Im a bass player that mainly played funk, jazz, blues, gospel most of my career. Filled in for a metal band one day thinking that metal was the easiest genre with no groove. But once I found my own groove that fit in my ears opened up to everything I was missing. Fast forward to now, I'm glad to know everything has a groove. You just gotta find it.
Holy balls this is AMAZING. sabbath is the band that made me love music…the energy these guys captured is unreal. I absolutely LOVE watching a guy who is famous for making music produced almost entirely in the box, just DESTROY (in the best way) an iconic song totally different from what you’d expect. This is one of those performances that makes me love music even more AND makes me appreciate a song I’ve lived for a long time even more. Just amazing
Whoa.... The guitarist me an insane dopamine rush. Hats off!!! The band as a whole are super tight. Love what T-Pain has done here. Also great for people to see how talented he is as a vocalist! Also... it's all blues man - just delivered in a slightly different way 🎸
Best way to say how much I loved this - rather than a ridiculously long paragraph: I would pay a good chunk of cash to watch this group do Black Sabbath live.
Found the band members names on the full video 🥰 Music Director/ Bass/ Keys: Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones Jr. Guitar: Curt Chambers Drums: Clemons Poindexter Keys: Joe Flip Wilson
So cool to see you react to this song. It blew my mind a couple days ago when I first saw it, and it was brought to my attention for the same reason, because I'm a huge Ravens fan and I heard that T-Pain was performing at the half-time show! I only knew T-Pain for his auto-tune shenanigans, and some people on a Ravens forum recommended this song to me, and I was blown away. Go Ravens!
Loved it, every moment was perfect homage to Sabbath. The band was incredible. The guitarist...that was like hearing SRV/Prince having a crack at Iommi, and it sounds incredible. Props to T-Pain for walking off stage, and giving the stage to the band at the end. Real musician right there.
Love this energized cover that is by no means easy. T-Pain definitely has the chops for it, though. Most hilarious part is how nobody in the crowd seems to have any familiarity with the song...!
This is kinda/sorta amazing. I used to be one of those don't eff with the original sorta people, but... THIS is how you cover a classic. By putting your own sauce on the shit and without reservation. I, personally, can complain when they change it up and omit certain iconic shizz/rizz, but Ozzy and Co. can't complain about this interpretation. FIRE
some of those guitar runs remind me of Rage Against the Machine (not the solos but the rhythm guitar parts). Funky bass and drums! This is got to be one of the funnest songs to cover.
Sabbath was 'my band' growing up and alotta ppl think they know... they think its cliche 70's white-guy rock but Sabbath was MUCH more multi-faceted. And they were groovy & funk-ay! They changed time signatures and turned on a dime AS A UNIT. I often say they were the fkn 'Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse meaning that each individual was a force to be reckoned with, but their strengths combined... it was like forming Voltron, the unit was something altogether beyond the sum of parts! Tastiest rhythm section in hard rock hands down. No comparison. Bill & Geezer just soared above their contemporaries. Their feel & flow was like nothing else. And since Tony was proto-Malcolm or proto-Hetfield playing rhythm, they had the freedom to GO OFF on fills & runs... basically mini solos... lots of phrasing & texture while Tony held it down and they were so fkn HEAVY... it was counterpoint to Ozzy's high-pitched melodic chanting. It was hypnotizing. It was everything. Sabbath has been a continuous thread for 40+ years in my life and Geezer's introspective & contemplative, mind-expanding lyrics always held meaning & inspiration for me. Recently I've seen a lot of 'Reaction' channels explore Sabbath and it's great fun to watch it dawn on people that it's not at all what they thought. Their stereotypes crumble and they wanna hear more. One thing that I really dig is the black reactors.. and hip-hop, funk & soul oriented reactors ALWAYS love Sabbath and describe them as dirtay, filthay groovay, funkay, etc.. And Bill Ward FINALLY gets so much love! I dig it. So I echo your sentiment. I love this even more than people discovering Parliament-Funkadelic which is another band that people think they know by stereo-type but are surprised by the breadth & depth. I also echo your sentiment about how you can tell when someone 'feels it'. That is the single common thread among my favorite music: it's authentic about what it's portraying and you can 'feel it' deep within. Love your reactions/reviews/analysis!! Keep up the excellent work!
Your point about music being a connected is so true I’m 24 years old African American from Detroit and I’ve found your video through because of this but not just that not I’m interested in seeing the original … that guitar player was wilddddd
I do like how they made it their own. Personally I like the original, but I do appreciate that this has their own flair to it and I don’t think it is ruined. Like you I appreciate a nicely done cover even when it is different than the original because it is a different style.
This is incredible. Throws fun stuff in from other genres, while keeping the feel of the original. Reminds me of when I saw Cypress Hill play it at a show decades ago.
Ozzy himself said this is his favorite version. I'm a massive fan of the old stuff but its 2024, and as much as I and many people hate to admit it, the old stuff can't touch the new stuff nowadays. People love to complain about the state of music nowadays, and I do get it, but there is so much more genre-bending and fusion going on that I find it almost impossible to get bored.
