T Time at Lunchtime | Surprise find at Hartlepool Historic Quay
I often head out for a wander on my lunch hour. For the most part it's pretty ordinary but on occasions you come across something a little different.
This time it was a group of Model T Ford cars being driven by members of the Model T Ford Register on their Northumbria County Tour.
The Ford Model T was named the most influential car of the 20th century in 1999. Produced by the Ford Motor Company from October 1, 1908, to May 26, 1927. It is generally regarded as the first mass-affordable automobile, which made car travel available to middle-class Americans. A few examples made their way across the pond to the UK.
The earliest vehicle here today looks to be from 1914 with the youngest being from 1927!

Thanks for watching the premiere Julie and Tony. I have seen a Jaguar car club have an outing here but that was a year or two ago, but yes amazing to see these cars there - the youngest would be 97 years old.

Thanks for watching Andy. A friend on Facebook works as a delivery driver. He'd spotted them on the dual carriageway coming into Hartlepool with a bit of a traffic jam behind them.

Thanks Nick, I didn't know they were going to be there, it must have been great to see them arrive and depart. Sadly none of the owners were around for a chat. As for the free tax, I'm sure a Gen X era motor would make for more efficient transport, there maybe a little slow in modern traffic.

Not something you see every day and I bet a bit of moneys worth there too. To be honest, I would not fancy getting stuck behind on mind, especially on anything like an incline, cheers Alan

I don't think today's disposable society will think them worthy, let alone if parts and fuel are still available by the time they get to a century old.
