TN 453: January 10, 1988.
A two-part edited sequence of a Trans Australia Airlines (TAA) Airbus A300-B4 flight sector from the old Eagle Farm Airport in Brisbane (Runway 04) to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (Runway 07).
As the Australian Government-owned domestic carrier set-up after the Second World War, TAA was referred to as "The Nation's Jetline" and for many years had a mandated 50/50 share of the domestic market with privately owned Ansett Airlines (an Ansett 767 can be seen taxiing in to the Brisbane terminal).
For further information see:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans_Au...
In 1986 the airlines' name was changed to Australian Airlines. At the time of filming, the process of altering aircraft liveries was only partially complete and some aircraft (such as this A300B4) retained their older paint-schemes.
In 1993, TAA was merged with Qantas.
Part 1: Start-up, pushback, taxi, take-off and initial climb sequences.
Part 2: Descent, approach, landing and taxi-in segments of the flight.

Imagine putting a number to all the flights my dad spoke to.... great footage. This is just how I remember the cockpits in my youth. Being able to fly in the jump seats as kids. Miss those days.

love this! i wish there was more footage of the old terminals at Eagle Farm and the runway ops back then. i used to spend hours as a kid at Buchanan park watching these birds come and go. loved every minute. my first widebody was a TAA A300 down to SYD in Sept 87. thanks for the memories!

What engines did TAA choose to power its A300s? From what I remember A300 operators could choose from three engine manufacturers over the years; the General Electric CF6-50C2, the Pratt & Whitney JT9D-54, the GE CF6-80C2, or the P&W PW4158.
