After my previous video on the solid wood dodecahedron, I made this video to cover the design and making process in greater detail. In this video we cover the use of Fusion 360 to make a 3D model and use it to plan out the jig and fabrication process, talk through how it was made, and problems and solutions along the way.
This is a bit longer and more "talky" than most of my videos, so I'd love to know what you think about this "in depth" style of video, leave me a comment below. Thanks for watching.

Excellent video! I really admire how you were able to "think outside the box" and come up with a method and jig for creating those dodecahedrons. I also really enjoyed that you showed how you designed it up in Fusion 360. Thank you for sharing!

Great rundown Ben. I learned a few little fusion tricks just watching how you use it. I didn't realize model and project parameters existed... I'm going to put these into my workflow immediately.

This was incredibly helpful. The other video is great for a quick reference, but this helped me understand a lot more of what was going on.

That’s a very complex build to describe. You managed to articulate the process quite well. Fantastic work.

What are the chances that you could make video explaining the math and measurements to make a solid icosahedron(d20)? You did a great job explaining the process btw!

Great video Ben. Iwas looking to do this myself to produce some dice for math practise for my daughter. How about a perspex plate on the top, under the clamp head, with a dowel hole and a single scibed line. May stop you needing to redraw your radial lines and be easier to align, perhaps.

And I thought initially that this was gonna be 12 separate pieces all glued together... lots of work behind the scenes that folks would never know unless ya' showed them. Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to produce this video. This could be cut out in a larger version on a properly set up bandsaw. does your computer model give you the block dimensions if the pentagon were to be 1 1/2 or 2 X larger?

Great video...If I was to make this out of 3/4" plywood the size of a soccer ball and hollow in inside what would be the angle I need to cut to make all the edges line up?

Hello thanks for the video very interesting .j do have little question for you . I just made some hexagons fail miserably the first time . second try they came out perfect al at 30° ..my question is if I made a dodecaedro the joining edges will always be at the same angle too no matter the size of the dodecaedro?? If so what will be that angle thanks a lot i really enjoy your video ....

"Thanks for taking the time to watch"?!? No brother......Thank you for taking the time to make this for us to watch!!! Outstanding work! Can Google sketch be used instead of Fusion 360 for a 1/1 scale model? I would like to cut more sizes, from 3 in to 15 inches Thank you for your time and effort!
@BenBrandt22

Thank you! I don't use Google sketchup, so I'm not sure how easy or difficult this would be.

I can’t or work out how to make the template of the pentagon,Is it possible that you can send a copy that I can print?

So the 2 plates that you put on with tape have to be 180 different from top to bottom?

Hello Ben, great video i have been trying to do this project but my brain is too small to work out some of the detail i.e the exact drawing of the pentagon with the 72-degree angles on the template, Would it be possible for you to send me a scaled drawing of this, I can make a donation if you wish.

Hmmm. Couldn't you use a jazzier jig. Avoid the sacrificial wood and the marks?
