I've used the Tactacam + FTS combo for quite a while, and that is by far the biggest down side. I recently switched to the Triggercam 2.1 and run it canted to the side as you describe, it works well enough. Another bonus of the Triggercam is the glass quality is much better and it degrades the image quality much less than the Tactacam FTS.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I definitely think that the Triggercam will be the solution that will fit my needs. Huge fan of your content BTW, keep up the great work!
I agree completely. I have several Tactacam cameras as well as Reveal trail cameras. I bought the FTS when it first came out with very few reviews at that time. My bolt action Ruger Hawkeye and my Zeiss Conquest did not work, even after buying taller rings as they suggested. After that, I never even tried to install it on any other rifle/scope combination. Disappointing.
Thanks for the honest review. Do you have to have special software to show both the trigger cam and your main camera view that yields the split screen?
do these cause you to change head positions or scope positions when mounting to scope? I see that it seems to add a couple inches to the rear. did you have to adjust your shooting positions or equipment, or is this a seamless transition?
They need a manual focus for the camera itself. I have the phoneskope adapter to film through my spotting scope with my phone. They have their own app that allows you to lock in focus. I also have the rifle scope adapter that does the same thing. Unfortunately it's only rated for .223 recoil but I've used it on my heavy 308 with a good muzzle Break.
Bought the 5.0 and fts mount not happy cannot get nice round image using only adaptor that fits my scope, everyone seems to sit fts and camera is flush against scope and camera is all the way in? Going with picanniny mount and view videos later.
i have a leupold fixed 4x rimfire scope.....and none of the adapters even come close to fitting it. yes, it will fit plenty of my other scopes....but i use the rimfire scope quite a bit.
Another flaw not mentioned is quick attach/detach or release of the fts. I'm currently trying to figure out how to at least get it semi quick release. Will upload a video if it's reasonable for others to find useful.
Yeah definitely not a whole lot of thought went into this product.I'm a right-handed so I put the camera on the left side and the bolt hits the FTS clamp and I'm getting double cross hairs on mine not happy at all
Only problem with the trigger cam ís the holdover, you dont see the full scope image it cuts of the bottom third of the scope, allbeit i think this is only on the playback, Bit if you are using the bottom mill dot you wont see this on the playback. You have full wimdage view on playback but you lose the top and bottom part of the scope circle.
@@CopperStarPrecision aligned as in the cross hairs are not aligned matter of fact my unit is shifted up and to the left. Tactacam actually sent me a email to ship back because they could not figure it out even after a video conference call with support techs. They said they never seen one so out of wack. I guess I got a rare lemon
