Outrage,yes. I survived a heart attack at 30 while training for my first triathlon. The only remedy advised to me was a triple bypass. Horrible experience. I was told by a nurse I’d have another one in the next ten years while I was still in the hospital. Rehab was no help in term of diet. The best I could expect was a chance I wouldn’t have another heart attack. I had to learn about plant-based eating 9 years later. Drs still make me feel I am crazy when I tell them what I learned and what I do. Why did it have to waste so many years! I am grateful to truthspeakers like you. Plant-based since July and depression is gone and cholesterol went from 200 to 70. Don’t believe the lies, friends!

I'm glad I watched this until the end. I just realized a few years ago that I'm not the only one who has those glitches, as he called it. I jumped in all the way but I do a vegan brownie in a cup every evening. I still noticed the sweetness of that roasted (plain) zucchini this evening. I was flabergasted. I was so happy also when I went into my garden and picked a sugar snap peas and ate it. WOW! I'm so happy now and it's only been a couple of weeks. I feel so good now. It's a little hard when I have to go out to eat with my 89 year old mother (cracker barrel, Bob Evans, etc.) It's sad how those places have nothing but a salad. I'm trying to let them know we need more choices. I'm glad I don't go to the Dr at my age. I'm 56 and have nothing wrong with me. Yay! The reason I started eating this way was because my mother takes 10 pills just in the morning because of all her Heath problems. Thanks guys for making this video! So much information.

I feel very lonely with respect to nutrition. My doctor tells me I'm crazy for being vegan. He tells me he's finished a masters in nutrition and that I should eat meat. I can't eat meat and animals products because I don't like them anymore. I have been eating vegan for so long that I could never go back to eating animal products. My family and friends also tell me I'm crazy and wrong! I live in a poor country, Argentina, that is famous for its beef and there are not many options for vegans. It's heartbreaking for me.

I feel so amazing though and could never go back to eating meat too. My doctor also is against a plant based diet and tells me to eat meat and feed my son meat. @karlwheatley1244
@karlwheatley1244 4 года назад
That sounds very difficult and lonely, especially given that Argentina eats even more beef than the U.S.! I'm a PhD university researcher and professor in the U.S., and part of what I teach is nutrition and part of what I study is how people--even very smart people--get fooled about what is true in various fields. I ate meat and dairy for 52 years until I stopped 7.5 years ago, and for three of the years after switching to a totally plant-based diet, I intensively studied nutrition and the myths that confuse people about it. We don't have a ton of good long-term research on vegan diets, but what we do have is very promising. It is true that some individuals might find they have too eat a few pieces of fish or eggs a month to be healthy, but most people who don't make it on a vegan diet fail because a) they don't eat a well balanced diet whole food diet with enough leafy greens, b) they don't make sure to get their B12, EPA/DHA or vitamin D, c) they just give in to the social pressure. No offense to your doctor, but most doctors know very little about nutrition, and in a country like Argentina, even a master's program in nutrition will be slanted according to your nation's cultural food biases (as is true here). People here--especially men--run around claiming you need meat for this or that, but we have elite athletes performing at high levels on vegan diets and vegan bodybuilders, so when will they admit maybe all that meat isn't necessary? Take care.

@@karlwheatley1244 Let's just ignore the fact that consuming oxalate-rich (you were talking about dark leafy greens) diets are directly CAUSALLY linked with breast cancer. Let's just ignore that oxalate crystals accumulate in the kidneys without a calcium source to bind to (reason why people used to combine dairy and spinach). @@karlwheatley1244 Thank you so much for your message. You're right 😂🤣 Argentinians do love beef, except for me. I didn't know that beef was more consumed here than in the US. Over there it's all about, chicken, turkey 🦃 and pork, right? So unhealthy. Obesity has become a big issue here as well over the years. Not as extreme as in the US but pretty serious. I wish I could take your nutrition class. Do you have any papers or books that I could recommend my doctor to read? The proof is in the pudding, uh excuse me, the celery. If people have the heart to try to eat a plant based diet and see for themselves how their A1C, cholesterol, etc. goes down and how good they feel, then they should be convinced that eating this way works. Back in 2016 I "experimented" on myself and in one month's time when I went back to the doctor she saw that my A1C came way down. She said, "Oh, I see the medicine I prescribed is working." That's when I told her I didn't take it. I showed her a log of what I had been eating. She was shocked. Every time I went to her after that she was excited at my changes and she continued to tell her other patients about it. She was of the opinion, at one time, that 'once a diabetic, always a diabetic' and so were some of her patients.

We need more Dr Greger!! It's a long read but Dr Greger's 'How not to die' helped me completely change my diet and life. Just following that, using his free app, I've so far lost more than a couple of stone (over 13 to under 11 at 5'7.5"), and I feel much healthier. I am now mostly organic wholefoods based and cook most days. I do have days where I have a little junk vegan food (burgers/sausages/nuggets etc.), and at Christmas I had some vegan treats - though that was more following traditions rather than a necessity. Your body completely adjusts, veggies really do taste fab, and I can't imagine going back to my old ways. I would describe myself as plant-based because no doubt some dairy ends up in the occasional takeaway dish I enjoy, but I try to follow vegan food for environmental and health reasons.

I received a diagnosis of high cholesterol and my doctor wanted to put me on a statin. I said no and that I wanted to try the plant sterols first. My doctor said he would give me 3 months. I remember I had read The How Not To Diet book and that the whole food plant diet is a soloution. Armed with Dr Gregers 2 cook books, the Daily Dozen ap and numerous recipes on Utube I am feeling better than I have felt for 20 years. Honestly in a closer to ideal world all high schools would require the equivalent of 6 credit hours worth of classes on basic nutrition in order to graduate just so people can understand the literature and make informed decisions. My education includes a decent amount of science (mostly chemistry) and engineering which helps with reading academic papers, and I have been spending a significant fraction of my time reading about nutrition for years and I am still a bit behind where I would be if I had just had the equivalent of one entry level college course to learn the basics and become familiar with the jargon.

But overall, I notice I have more energy when I’m eating plant based. I’m sure lots of excellent things are happening in my body as a result! I’m 71 years old and have no aches or pains upon rising as long as I get enough sleep and haven’t had a glass of wine., which I have very occasionally. Getting regular exercise is my next step.
