You’ve got me excited brother, I’m seriously considering going back to TKD. I took Moo Duk Kwan 40 years ago and these were my favorite kicks. I’ve been doing a lot of stretching the past month or so trying to get my foot up there. I’ve got my front kick high enough to kick someone in the mouth again, it was about groin high not long ago. My roundhouse and sidekicks are maybe chest high, but I couldn’t even kick someone in the knee a few months ago. I found a Moo Duk Kwan school about an hour away, I’m going to jump in after I turn 53 soon if they’ll have me. I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to demonstrate the ability to jump in the air and kick a rider off a horse like they told us we’d have to do to earn a black belt my first time around but I really just want to learn some forms again and get into better shape. Besides, I know a karate class that hands out black belts like candy if I wanted one bad enough. They even have black belt children.
To be honest, I’m happy to be able to kick at all. Due to the shape of my hip sockets, I have developed early arthritis in my right hip. Some days are better than others. When I made this it was not a good day. I’m far from the greatest or most powerful martial artist, but if I can help people learn a concept I’m all about it.
