TAG Upgraded My CGC 7.5 Creature Deck Zapdos MASSIVE!

As we discussed, this outlier case will be a very valuable data point for us as the defect you pointed out was right on the NHOD threshold (non human observable defect), and as you noted in the video, it can indeed be seen. We've processed many, many, cards with similar surface defects that are noted in the DIG Report. In fact, the majority of the critical feedback we receive on surface detection is the opposite scenario where people say, "TAG should be less strict... I don't see it." We pride ourselves on detecting dents that might be missed by other manual grading companies. While we aim to never make a mistake, we understand it's not possible, and that it is better to own up to them when they are made. By understanding outlier examples like this, we can continue refining our sensitivities for the overall improvement of the system. crazy cool card, doesn't matter the case or number associated! Investments in automated grading with image detection algorithms, no matter how good, are clearly not quite the whole story. One thing that TAG and similar companies will have to grapple with is the optics side of the equation (as apposed to image processing/grading). One under appreciated benefit of a human grader is the continuous optical image at an infinite number of angles that can be displayed on the grader's retina, and with such diversity of cards (with various contours and textures to produce diffuse reflections, holofoils with various absorbance and reflection patterns, etc) it is not so easy a mountain to climb. For example, from seeing the ding on that part of the card with that type of holofoil, its entirely possible an identical blemish on a different card would grade differently (not knowing exactly how the image processing works). All this said its definitely a worthwhile pursuit and I look forward to see how the technology continues to tackle this much more difficult side of the grading equation!

Would never send any expensive cards to a new grader like TAG. Personal preference. Also knowing my card has some damage but the slab says 10 would bother me

I’m grading with precision grade right now but I kinda like the tag I like different things and precision grade offers custom labels that’s why I grade with them but I like the label less look with the tag company as well pretty sick card man I’ll probably never own any card from the creatures deck I feel like it’s just to much for me plus I feel like it’s kinda hard to even find any raw cards of it

That slab is crispy clean! Not gonna lie, probably the best slab design I’ve ever seen. Really interested in seeing the future of TAG.

No offense, but this video doesn't exactly instill confidence in TAG as a grading company. I'd actually say it does the exact opposite of that. The card is straight up damaged, CGC gave it a 7.5 and yet TAG gives it a 10? The fact that they're supposedly extremely thorough when evaluating cards makes it even worse. Otherwise you could at least give them the benefit of the doubt by saying the grader must have missed the damage. Now we have to assume they knew the damage was there and gave it a 10 anyway.

I was talking with a friend the other day about TAG. I thought that the Illustrator that they gave a 10 was just a little bit suspect. 995 out of 1000. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 (I’m keeping my original comment here, however it appears I read the grade on TAGs site incorrectly when I said it was a 995 out of 1000. It is in fact 955 out of 1000)

How the fack does this company work? I can’t figure it online. Do I have to order the grading kit before sending the submission out? The website isn’t as clear as PSA bgs cgc where it’s simple to submit cards.

Sorry in advance for the negative take. I wish people would just accept the grades they get. This company swapping/re-grading cycle is such a cringe part of the hobby. I know it’s just part of the game, and I don’t blame people for taking free 10s where they can get them. I just kind of wish it wasn’t how things went.
