My husband and and I are both disabled with poor balance, we are both struggling with lifting our feet and I have actually fallen. Is there an alternative that we can do. Our upper body is fine for the exercises shown.
I had a hip replacement three months ago. I know there are limitations to what I can do being that I am in Physical Therapy right now. This looks like it will help me in strengthening my quads and arms. I am 67 years old. I’m on my journey to walking again without the aid of a walker or a cane! It’s been 11 years since I’ve been able to do that. I’m determined! Ty for your videos! Can’t wait to start!
I cannot express enough how grateful I am to you for creating and sharing these videos for free.... I will absolutely buy them at some point, as they are the best instructions on Tai Chi I have ever seen. Your energy is so calm and comforting, and I just had to say thank you for being so kind and generous. I’m sure these videos help a LOT of people.
I'm 35 years old, I had a Stroke 2 months ago. My balance is not good yet. This classes are wonderful. I'm doing this to recover my balance. Thank you so much. You are amazing!!!
Thank you very much, I love that you do the exercises so slow that in my condition is way better because all my attention is on balancing and moving super slow. Hope to meet you too!!
Thank you Dr. Lam for spreading your ancient healing wisdom. Im a 35 year old woman recovering from a spinal fracture, and this has really helped me regain mobility. Much gratitude🙏🏻
Just began tai chi and found your channel..I so look forward to your practices. One more faithful student of your tai chi lessons. Thank you so much for explaining tai chi in such depth..
Dr, Lam, this has changed my flexibility, and many other things. I also do Bon and Buddhist practices, and with these two energies at work in my life, I enjoy life, I love the woman I am becoming,
Hello Dr Lam. Thank you for sharing this routine. It's very clear and easy to follow. I would love to do this with my grandparents and was wondering if you have versions in different languages such as Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese. Thank you.
I have answered this several times, making a dvd is a very expensive exercise, once made it is difficult to change let alone the immense cost. Our team did our best, we paid for a professional announcer - and did everything else as profesional and as good as we could. We produced our work with passion and the only objective to help empower people to improve health and wellness. No way we can please everyone or change everything. Thanks for all those who support and appreciate our work and benefited from it. Thanks for those who understand and appreciate how much work and expense we put in compare to vast majority of dvds, and that there is no perfection for every viewer. May I suggest coming to my workshop then you would just have my voice and no announcer.
I am 74 years old and am in recovery from left toe surgery. I thank you for your video to help me with my balance issues. I have registered for a class that uses your methods that begins Jan 7th and meets every Tue and Thurs for the month of January. It was recommended that I use your dvd for beginners daily to help with this instructions. My biggest problem already is just slowing down and then the lack of strength in my ankles. I will advise you of my progress.
Thank you for this effective lesson. The instruction was excellent. I've followed this video 4 times now and look forward to more. I feel stronger and more relaxed each time following along.
Thank you Dr. Lam. I've been meaning to try Tai Chi for a long time. It's a little awkward for me right now, because I don't look as graceful doing it, but I'm sure with practice comes experience & comfort - Then it will feel more graceful. Namaste🙏from USA!!
I'm near Lake Turkana in Kenya East Africa, I stumbled upon this. I'm sure it will keep me fit. I tried other lessons but couldn't keep up. You are a good teacher
Hello Dr Paul Lam. Thanks for this video. I have osteoarthritis and I found your lessons very beneficial for me. At first, it was somewhat difficult but little by little I found it enjoyable.
Great thanks. I have been training in martial arts for quite some time now. But i have to admit that since I started following these lesson son Tai Chi, I feel a bigger difference. Am always relaxed, i mean very relaxed. May God bless yo, Dr. Paul Lam.
Thanks for your interest, yes I have produced series of videos from beginners, health to intermediate and advanced series. You can find them at taichiproductions dot com.
Thank you for posting this on youtube Dr. Lam. I really appreciate you guving a free lesson on here. I have bad gout and i think i have arthritis. I have lost much strength. Your free lesson has helped me to decide to buy your videos. Thank you Dr. Lam.
I have many health issues including chronic migraines but I am more into alternative therapy than conventional so I am looking forward to learning this and Im sure once I learn it will benefit me greatly. Thank you so much for making this video so we can all learn and benefit from the wellness it provides. I know it will take some practicing but will be worth it...thank you again
Thanks so much for putting this video up and teaching people the ancient art of Qigong.Though even as a beginner I know breathing in and out on certain movements is very important. Unfortunately it wasn't explained too clearly and I was left guessing on what I should be doing. It looks like a nice lesson though and I may come back when I understand the concepts of breathing without having to be told. Thanks
Musical: Thanks for your comment, I would love to make a special dvd for each person, that is not possible. It took a lot of work, actual tai chi teaching experience to put in detailed explanation. Though practice is important for tai chi, it is not riding a bike. Understanding the principles and the underlining theory and nuance help practitioner to gain more enjoyment and benefits. However my DVDs are constructed to be useful for as many people as possible. You could just follow me at the part - "run through with Dr Lam". May I suggest you try spend a little time to find out what my instructional DVD can do for you, it is helpful to follow my instructions - as many thousands have found out.
Thank you for making this video, and your other video's, available. I used to do a lot of physical activity including Tai Chi before my back became injured. I really appreciate the slower pace you use that I haven't seen in some of the other videos.
Thanks for your inquiry and interest in Dr Lam's Tai Chi programs. While I agree face to face teaching is great, I have met many people who after learning from my instructional DVDs only - most of them did very well. Most importantly they gain better health and enjoyment. Do try it, give yourself time, and follow my lessons as though you are in my class and my instructions. It is certainly a great supplement to classes, you can find Tai Chi for Health Institute Board certified instructors around the world from the Institute's website. Its website is TaiChiforHealthInstitute dot org, which is number one on google search.
Marrae please go through the free introduction and first lesson, you will understand a lot of information you might need including what I am teaching, how I teach the program and what the forms really are etc. The name of the forms does not tell you enough.
I'm sure that by now you have heard that tai chi is supposed to be good for M.S. but I do not see a specific one like for other afflictions. Dr. Lam, which DVD do you suggest for those who have MS? Just the beginners one, or one of the others?
As you can see from the free introduction and first full lesson, we are all about empowering people for health and wellness. Not a martial art training.
My year 6 class (ages 10-11) would have to do this before every lesson and our teacher would stand at the front to guide us into it, really calmed us and woke us up, ready for the lesson. I really want to do Tai Chi again, but I can never focus on the videos. Anyone know how to concentrate better when you've got an... active mind (Random thoughts keep popping up and then I'm no longer doing the movements).
hi Dr Lam. Do you have any video of tai chi that can cure sleeping disorder. My husband hadn't slept for month now and i am really worried for him. We already tried different medicine even sleeping pills but it didn't work at all. We no longer have money to support his medicine he do not have a job and i do not have too. i really don't know what to do. I will be very glad if you reply to this message. Please help us. I want him to be okay.
Chung Nguyen, of course I am not a kungfu master, I only interested in bringing health and happiness to people through tai chi. I dislike fighting and violence. Hi I injured my my ankle last year, got a plate and 2 screws in my ankle to keep it together, the worry I have is would tai chi hurt my ankle or cause pain I am doing psycoho therapy as well, please let me know thanks sharon anne Bell
Tai Chi for Beginners will help, pending on your condition and doctor's advice, I would think Tai Chi for Arthritis might suit you better because it is little more gentle and has Sun's style's unique qigong (to generate internal energy), many people with Parkinson have found both helpful.
Glad you love our work of passion, we tried very hard to meet everyone's preference. Having reaches well over 15 million people, we found it much more practical to make our work user friendly and instructional clear and step wise. But we are always working on making our work better. Will keep your comments in mind. In fact at the latest advanced series there are only myself teaching but the introduction does have more people - good to see happy tai chi people around the world!
He has such a benevolent and genuine expression. He inspires trust right away. Thank you Dr. Paul, Students and everyone else that contributed to the production.
Dr. Lam, this is day two of your beginner's course for me. This will help me so much with anxiety issues from deaths including my husband and mother. It will teach me calmness, the calmness of Heaven! I have always wanted to learn Tai Chi. Thank you so much for these free courses!!! The benefits will be with me throughout my life. God Bless You brother!!! Kelly in Colorado. USA.
You are a sweet person Dr. Lam - i'm so happy i found your videos - I have health problems that the doctors are ignoring - well; actually there is one doctor who is helping me - and he is SO OVERWORKED! I have a very odd type of vertigo, and also a head injury, spinal injury and whiplash and concussion syndrome - no one is helping me with this - and I used to be a very active person; was a dancer and would walk and sing all night - I was also a musician and performer - I slowly became house bound and bedridden because doctors would not treat me and i refuse to take narcotic medicines. My friend suggested I try Tai Chi - because i am unable to leave my house -and i don't think anyone teaches it in my town - I looked up and found your videos. I have been doing the exercises and the breathing (which is very much the same as what i was taught for yoga and Reiki) - and now - I am able to lay down flat and sleep -which i haven't been able to do for 5 months; and I go out in my garden and do the exercises and then some gardening - I love this- I am an anxious person -so this is also good for me because it is calming. My pain specialst doctor who is wonderful and does acupuncture for me thinks that the Tai Chi is a perfect thing for me to be doing for my condition. I hope that i will be able to buy a good full DVD of yours once i get the small basic moves learned and I would like to learn more! Blessings to you! Eriana.
Eri, how are you now? Have you found benefit from the practice? I ask because I have a TBI as a result of an accident, vertigo, I broke a total of 19 bones, from the hip to neck - on my left side only. It has been 7 years and it sounds like we are both seeking peace and serenity. I will begin with these lessons now. Bright blessings.
You are more than welcome. The Tai Chi for Health Institute is producing a documentary about anyone can learn tai chi, will be available soon. I will try to publish it here at RU-vid.
Appreciate your time code on the segments, if you subscribe the program, every segment is separated with timing. You can navigate to any part that suits you.
"It's better to learn fewer movements well, than rushing through many movements". Exactly how I feel about yoga! I'm excited to learn and incorporate Tai chi into my exercise regime. It's a recommended exercise for my blood type, according to Dr. D'Adamo's book, Eat Right 4 Your Type. I have 18 years of ballet and ballroom dancing, and love yoga, so I'm excited to learn this art of movement! Thank you for putting this for free on RU-vid!! Your passion for it must be immense to make it available in this way, and I thank you for being a bringer of light into this dark world!
Hello Dr Lam I would like to thank you for doing this video. I have Parkinsonism and it has become very difficult for me to do my favorite yoga. But this is so simple, not tiring at all, and you do not have to lie down on any mat (when it is almost impossible to get up on your own). Also I feel it has given me more energy, even though I started only about a week ago. Mariam
I have been practicing yoga all of my life and now I am over 60 and just starting tai chi for the same reason. My shoulders are beginning to bother me and I miss my downward and upward dog's but my shoulders are not as forgiving as they used to be so tai chi was the perfect progression for me. Looking forward to Dr Lams lessons.
