If all these are true, wow, more power to them. However, does anyone need 8 houses? The opulence is an in-your-face eff you "Look what i got.". How many people could be fed, clothed and housed with the money spent for even one of those homes? It's almost sinful. How many acres and acres of beautiful land is now owned by a select few and who occupy most of them on just a part time basis. Such a waste. Lady Gaga buys an equestrian estate, but keeps no horses? None of Goldberg's homes was the least bit repulsive. Generally, they were the classiest and least ostentatious.

A few years ago I worked in construction on the Jenga tower in Austin, TX. At some point towards the end of the project it became known that Kanye West had bought not just one of the top floor condos, but the entire floor- and wanted all of the already existing condos to be re-configured into one unit. The estimated cost of the renovation (this is before the building was even complete) was as much or more than the sales price of the condo. When I asked why celebrities throw so much money away, I was told that it was a financial strategy: if they hosted just one "networking" party at the location, then all of the expenses related to that property could be written off that year on their taxes. You and I watch these videos, and think $20M is ridiculous to spend on a house... until we realize that that house is saving them $15M per year in taxes.

I think it's sickening to see how lopsidedly wealth is distributed among all human beings. Nobody is worth billions or hundreds of millions of dollars. Their fans pay the price by putting these people up on pedestals, while pay unbelievable ticket prices to see them....and for what?! Idolizing these people is wrong, and useless.

The title is definitely clickbait. In fact, Whoopi's homes look like the least ostentatious of the others and look more comfortable though a bit cluttered. But, that's how these celebrities' build their financial worth up is by major investments like homes, cars, art, etc. Just because they own all these homes doesn't mean that they are all empty. A lot of these celebrities offer their homes for family, friends, business associates and even lease/rent them out for either residents, vacation homes or event planning. They work hard, earn their money and invest it. Why everyone here is hating on that is beyond me.

I don’t presume the right to tell people how to spend their money. But it would be nice (plus a profitable venture) to build a town. Rent out the commercial buildings, and rent or sell the homes for a reasonable price that could produce steady income. The rich people could be the hands on mayor. Our little village was started that way, but we had to drive one town over to get out mail until we got our post office and delivery. That place was gull of churches and top ranked schools and at least regional football champions every year. I seem to have gotten off topic, but I still think is a good idea.

These celebrities worked hard to get where they are today, how they choose to spend their money is their business, but yes it would be great if they shared some of their wealth on helping the homeless, the addicts, etc but we can't force them to. I do not care who you are, how rich you are or how famous you think you are, NO ONE on this earth needs these many homes, this much ridiculous space with 10 pools and guest houses and planes and jets and yachts and boats and snow ski resorts and clothing and purses and shoes and hairstyles and personal make up artists every day when there is no personality or warmth to any of it and it sits vacant 50 weeks out of the year because they can only live in one house at a time when they are not traveling the world.
