Taking A Close Look At Splatoon 3 - Salmon Run Next Wave Trailer 

Pretty interesting how the Official Splatoon 3 hype train began with our Little Buddy small fry and now here we are staring at SalmoZilla.

What's I find most fascinating about the Fish Stick's design is how their towers don't disappear after being killed. This means teams can deliberately time their death for better vantage points, cover, or as shortcuts to the egg basket. By contrast, however, it's also possible to accidentally create barriers, visual obstructions, or worse of all: block the egg basket, especially with tossing now thrown into the mix.

To me that big Salmonid looked like an evolved or mutated form of the Cohawk enemy from normal salmon run. I think that revealed mutations or evolutions for basic or known salmonid which is sick AF and need to see more of

My theory: the giant salmonid is controlling all the lesser salmonids except little Buddy, and we have to defeat it in the story to free the salmons. Idk how exactly, just a theory.

Some other stuff! 1. The yelling at the beginning is most likely noise from the helicopter, as it doesn't sound bubbly like the Inklings and Octolings. 2. The new boss utilizes Octarian technology! The flipper flopper uses the goggle and snorkel that Octo troopers use to dive into their ink (keep in mind normal Salmonids and Octarians can not do this). I don't know what Octarian tech the fish stick uses, tell me what if you know! 3. There seems to be a new or additional type of snatcher salmon! It's shown off for only a second, but it seems a lot like the Salmonids that deliver the boxes from the mothership to the stage, except these take the eggs away and they can be found in the daytime. 4. I'm pretty sure the things pierced in those spears at the beginning of the trailer were french fries given salmon run's history of having giant foods skewered in it's stages. 5. The gear that the workers are wearing resemble gear you can obtain from Grizzco in Splatoon 2! It seems like they're wearing that searchlight helmet you can get, as well as that life vest you can also get from Grizzco! 6. Finally, I think the "King Salmon" is going to be apart of a new mode for salmon run, much like cohock rush, glowflies, and fog was in Splatoon 2. Maybe it's dark and you have only your headlamp (like Trinity already suggested), and the King Salmon wanders around the stage and you have to hit him a bunch to get a lot of eggs. After the round is done, he just goes back to the sea, as he probably can't be defeated given his size. I bet there'd be lots of jump scares in that mode! 7. Wait one last thing. I'm pretty sure the usernames of your teammates are just Nintendo trying to make the gameplay more realistic. Nintendo usually goes for names like "Bernardo" and "Monica" and "Aaron", so I think their trying to do names you might actually see in your lobbies, like YARRwal and hiroooo. 8. Ok wait last thing for real this time. The deep fried thing in the background I have a theory about. At first I thought it could have been a "Queen Salmon", and Grizzco took it and deep fried it so it wouldn't be a problem during the workers' shifts and planned to do the same to the King Salmon. Planned, but failed, as the King Salmon still lives with chains around it's body. It may seem to dark, and this is a kids game, but that's why it could be in the sunken scrolls or an Grizzco employee handbook. Splatoon can get *dark,* like, *really dark.* Screams at the end of boss fights, blending up hundreds of test subjects, a power crisis, or just feeling like you don't belong, this game isn't afraid to bring up dark topics, especially if their hidden and you have to search for them. (Side note, we should really get a Grizzco Employee Handbook in real life like the Haikara Walker and two art books that expands on salmon run!)

Second Comment, but I think that the names of the players might be a hint towards some future reveals. #1: Narwhals are actually Mammals, and have been confirmed to be extinct by the time Splatoon takes place. #2 Hero: Self Explanitory. Hero mode has more to do with Salmonoids. #3 Anenome: This one is a hit odd. Anenome's are a species similar to Inklings and Octolings, and have been confirmed to be one of the species that actively plays in Turf Wars. I think that the name may be hinting that one of the IDOLs is an Anenome, as the No1 may be hinting at favoritism towards a character, or one half of the idols. (People went around with names like CallieNo1 or PearlNo1 durring their splatfests). Probably nothing, but still neat to theorize.

I think the “voice” you heard at the start of the trailer wasn’t a voice I think it was just the helicopter engine

At 3:54 the charger shoots a blue salmonid that's flying with some golden eggs via a propeller! With the fish sticks boss, helicopter, and this guy maybe we'll be getting more propeller/flying based abilities and enemies.

Grizz is still the boss, it was confirmed and the helicopter was bought because Grizz has so much money from the second game

There is one thing you missed, at 1:32 in the trailer, there is a egg stealer guy that is flying using a propeller!

Theory: 04:40 Mr Grizz was experimenting with golden eggs and he tested them on...that big chungus. But as he was testing the limits the cohock (or whatever) became too strong and freed itself. Now hes taking revenge... Excuse my english and correct me :)

I think it might be an evolved version of Maws.

I'm not sure but I noticed in the trailer that when one of the Inklings were dodging the Stingray attack they had swam-dodged onto the ledge and then back down I'm not sure but I think now we'll be able to have the ability to swim-dodge in ink which would be sick and make battles more interesting in my opinion Of course I could be wrong but I think that's the case cause of how tight and precise it was and the animation had the Inkling spinning through the air as they jumped out of the ink.

This honestly just makes me disappointed. Salmon run was fun in the previous game but I had many complaints about it and from what we’ve seen (ik its very short footage) there’s not many new things. Sure a couple new bosses and a new gimmick are nice, but I was hoping for some big new things. And I’m sure more will be revealed but from what I’ve seen this is just more of the same. I want to have high hopes for this game but I know the higher my expectations are it just means the more I get disappointed ☹️.

I think the reason that there's a helicopter is because the salmonoids only seem to show up around water, and splatoon 3 is in a desert wasteland.

Wait. I just thought of something. What if Mr. Grizz is an advanced salmonoid? Think about it, the inklings/octolings collect all the power eggs so that Mr. Grizz can make more salmonoid for the inklings/octolings to take down, and since more salmonoid are getting taken down, Grizz co gets more and more money. This'll make it a vicious cycle that makes Mr. Grizz even more money and power.

As I stated in Pufuu's video, this trailer felt the weirdest of the bunch. The music was annoying and not in the "splatoon catchy" way personally. Also the way they didn't add new D-pad talks options, only 2 new bosses and like one new gimmick. Hooray. No new weapons/subs/specials, no new salmon run events (apart from the Big Salmon guy who we don't even know ANYTHING about). The most disappointing trailer so far to be honest. I'm not going to call Splatoon 3 the next "Splatoon .5 version" but Salmon Run in Splatoon 2 always felt lackluster because all the updates to it were new weapons and stages (and by stages I mean most at launch and then a whole year gap till Ark Polaris came out). And now in Splatoon 3 it seems like its getting the same treatment which is VERY disappointing.

So far it only feels like splatoon 2.5. Not splatoon 3
