The three filmmakers discuss the evolution of Hindi cinema and some of Gulzar's classics at the Habitat Film Festival at New Delhi's India Habitat Centre
What is wrong with these organizers? They invite someone like Gulzar saab and the host shamelessly continues to ask questions in English when Gulzar saab has already answered back in Hindi/Urdu. Its a treat to listen to him in a language he is known for writing in. And the host shamelessly does that over and over again through the program! And even the other two directors get their bread and butter by selling Hindi movies to the masses. It is too much of a shameful act by these so called hosts/interviewers each time. I am shocked every time a so called film critic asks a question in English from someone who is known not to be comfortable in English but inspite of the first reply coming back in Hindi obviously, the critic continued to use English. One wonders why?? Great artists like Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra(and many others) have handled such a situation beautifully and gracefully(like Gulzar saab did as well..) by replying back in Hindi. The same nonsense goes on at "Hindi movie" award shows, and tons of tv reality shows, even on Kapil Sharma show where Archana puran singh would suddenly jump to start chattering in English with the guests when it is a known fact that this program has become a massive hit due to its popularity and viewership with the masses and we all watch that show for its "Hindi" based humor by Kapil and team. AND, it always comes across as a social status kind of statement from such shameless people that they are trying to make in a program that is either made out of Hindi movie stuff or targeted at the masses or even when you have some one like a Gulzar saab sitting on the dais. Just shameful, rather shameless! Its high time we ensure to use English when we need to, where we need to and who we use it with.
Just imagine the level of tehzeeb. Gulzar Saab touching his ears when he mentions Uday Shankar Ravi Shankar ....lucky to be born in his time. Thank you for this. Get him again.
Great conversation .. great speech by three of them .. Look How much love and respect have Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and Vishal Bhardwaj towards Gulzar Sahab .. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
M really blessed that I was born in 70's. Wat can we say about Gulzar saabji we are followers of this living legend, do we all think that he made only movies... its beyond that God bless
Have to say the host was not upto the mark ... asking questions with so many sort of, like, you know phrases .... very poor ... they could have just let the three speak and asked the host to step down
