If he's waiting a year you were his last option. Most guys want to move on right away and find someone else. Take it from a man. Especially at your age when hormones are raging and most people are single.
Respectfully, men who want things right away are a red flag for me. No matter how successful, rich, good looking, how good a family he comes from etc. If he wants to rush, it's giving desperate. A man with self respect will take time to know the woman as a person. Not feel like time is fleeting. And trust his gut. And trust divine timing. It also shows the man has self respect and indeed is not acting upon his hormones. I would definitely "wait" for someone. And during that waiting period, yes I would mingle with others. Go on other casual dates. Just to confirm whether or not the original person i like is truly for me and so i can confirm those feelings. I would live my own life during the wait period. And trust that without chasing, if the universe wanted that person to be in my life it would happen. If it wasn't, then I would get the hint and ultimately forget about the guy.
