Tamiya Konghead 6x6 - 2 Truck Run!

Hehe Rob - good job I have a video editor and was able to cut out all the times that we drove off that boardwalk!!! Not to mention all the other fails - I think I started with about 30 minutes of video clips and edited them down to 3 minutes! Pete Wylie RC Videos - Many thanks for the kind words! I don't know why, but my Kong packed up after those couple of runs in the little mud puddle, and Rob's was just fine - even though we are running exactly the same electrics! Anyway, I looked at in the shed earlier and it's that caked in mud that I just shut the door again - hope it still runs and I can just knock the mud off on another bash :-)

Yeah mate - they are good fun on almost any terrain (probably just as good in the desert and rocks dude!) but they are even more fun when there are two of them and your best friend is driving the other one! I hope the fun factor came across in the video too - thanks for watching mate :-)

Cheers UNBOXING RADIO CONTROL - Yeah it was fun on those boards - we both drove off them a few times - my friends Kong is a bit twitchy with the rear wheel steering, as you obviously noticed! Takes a little getting used to after a "normal" front wheel steer truck - did you fit the rear-wheel-steer to your yellow bus?

Mate - the Konghead is a classic in the making! As before, we were discussing scale looks - and this is a bit silly in that respect, but it attracts the child in me! And it does not disappoint - great fun and amazingly capable on almost any terrain - every Tamiya fan should try one out at least once - I bet they will all be hooked :D

Thank you Nordic RC Visions - Yeah Rob and I always enjoy bashing our Kongheads - It was a good shooting opportunity in the mud but unfortunately it killed my Konghead after only a few minutes! That's because none of the electrics are waterproof - haven't tried it since the run - hope it recovers without too much trouble - I must get around to cleaning it soon :-)

Cheers Bro! Yeah that was a fun day, however that little water splash killed my TBLE02 ESC! Can't believe it! I didn't wash the truck - just let it fall off next time I ran it with a new ESC!!! :P

Morning mate. Sorry about the lack of words in my first comment. It was 3am this morning and I wasn't feeling too well, and watching videos trying to take my mind off it. Feeling better now. I hope your esc and/or receiver have dried out and are working again. It's good that you at least got some decent run time in before it stopped working. I picked up another XV-01 this week. An Asterion (XV-01T). The chassis is mint, run once then shelved, but the body hasn't been cut out too well. Really nice light blue paint job though, and a good low price. I've got to get an esc for it. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to get out recently what with one thing and another. Itching to try my gimbal again. Class filming and editing again my friend. : ))

Yeah though - you do usually write more - always good to read your opinion my friend. So you picked up another XV-01? Boy, you are building up quite a collection! I keep meaning to buy a kit and do my first "New Build", but then I see another ebay bargain and can't resist. At this rate there won't be many left that I want. I was thinking about getting a Lowride Pumpkin kit, but I've seen a pre-built custom one with a hobbywing wp esc I like the look of. Mmmm very tempting lol

Well Derek - when you can pick up a bargain on eBay I don't blame you - new kits can work out very expensive when you add it all up, what with the sevos and motors, receivers and ESC and all the other bits you need. I'm on quite a tight budget (hence a lot of home-made mods and fixes) so I should really bite the bullet and have a go at bidding! The Pumpkin does sound interesting - worth a punt with a conservative maximum bid - you never know :-)

Hi Jay - both the trucks are running 13.5T sensored brushless but on HiMh. I know they are OK on 2S, not sure about 3S but i would think so as the gearboxes are very robust! All the best! :-)

Well Sean, the truck is, but it depends on what electronics you fit - The standard TBLE ESC is not waterproof - you need to fit another if you want to play in water! :))
