Tamiya Konghead 6x6 and the decline of Rural Pubs | Will we need the Ghostbusters? 

It is cool how well those 6x6 truck rip around. The look so bulky, top heavy and slow but once you give it some throttle they rock and roll and are really stable! It does kind of stink the pubs are closing up, for us over here the English pubs have always been a thing to strive for. Over here we main have dive bars where everything seems sketchy from the drinks, the food and the clientele or they want to be uber elite and overly fancy. One of my favorite places to go (when I do go out for food and drinks) is a US version of an English pub with good food and a very cool atmosphere. Sadly I don't drink much anymore but they do have good beer on tap as well!

When I first got my Konghead, i didn't think it would perform as well as it does. It was almost a goofy thing that the 7 year old in me, had to have. I think I drive it the most out of all my RC's. Takes an absolute beating. The only casualty so far has been an exhaust pipe. I had the 4wS going, but honestly it doesn't need it. Turns beautifully once the back end gets sliding.

Ah yes it is a bit sad that pubs are shutting down and I do try to do my bit by going to the open ones and spending my tiny amount of spare cash on beer and crisps. Oh yes I love the Konghead and it looks great in that copper colour. I think that this is the kind of RC that Tamiya does best. Big tyres and a load of fun. Great stuff 😁

I've seen plenty of shadowy figures near the bar in my younger years, but now I prefer to enjoy my Fursty Ferrets and Bishop's Fingers in the comfort of my own home. A timely video - I've just requested a Konghead as a 50th birthday treat. I was wondering though, how easy was it to clean up after the sandy beach run? And is it safe to drive an RC under the influence? 😮

Only one outtake was a left turn rollover. But it seemed more of a drain grate issue than directional. As a lefty, maybe more left turns would lead to less outtakes, so more right turns please.

The demise of our historical pubs is a real shame. As you mentioned, stricter drink driving laws haven't helped, neither has the smoking ban. Combine that with the fact I can buy a 2.5L keg of 8% cider from the supermarket for the same price as one pint from the pump and it doesn't take long to connect the dots..... another UK industry that the powers that be have killed through regulation and law enforcement. Growing up in the nineties rave scene there were other 'options' when it came to driving, but now it seems they have other tests as well now..... I feel sorry for the youth of today. Us Gen X'ers were the last generation to experience true freedom and fun..... and let's face it, we all lived to tell the tail right? On a more positive note, I love a pint or two whilst driving my rc's, with no fear of loosing my license! 🍻 I also enjoy a drink whilst sitting in the comfort of my own home whilst building a kit, repairing my rc's, or watching RCsoandso..... so I guess it ain't all bad. As for the Konghead...... It never ceases to amaze me just how agile and nimble this monster of a Tamiya is, it really shouldn't drive as well as it does! I've often thought how Konghead racing would be a great sport. Multiple Kongheads fighting it out around a track would be heaps of fun! As for the rentaghost flashback..... didn't we have some weird programs growing up? 🤔 Doesn't half seem an eternity ago now..... but great time period to have grown up for sure, simpler times! 👍 👍 👍
