This video series is part of my effort of trying to get all my RC cars up and running this year. One car at a time. Slowly. I hope I will make it.
Be aware that this is not a true restoration of a vintage model. More of a runner-project with a complete clean-up, transformation, upgrade and modernization. Some will like the final result, some will not. I hope I will.
This is an original 1999 Tamiya Wild Dagger I purchased for little money several years ago. It was dirty and well-used but I never got around to a clean-up and restoration, and just used it as it came, as a little extra runner for our small allotment hut garden back in the City: • Tamiya WR-01 Wild Dagg...
I have had several parts (towers, shocks, motors, ESC, pinions etc.) ready for a complete clean-up and upgrade project for several years now, but last year my son and me was busy running and building Tamiya WT-01's so we didn't really need another WR-01 or WT-01 to keep us more busy.
I never really liked the paint job on this one. If it had come with a box-art paint job (which I like) in good condition, I might have settled with a disassembly/assembly and clean-up, keeping it stock and original. But since I have another WR-01 non-Wild Dagger-body and decals set lying around, and since I really could need a new 4x4 Monster Truck runner, I might as well turn the entire car into something else. There is really nothing rare and special about this particular unit. All the WR-01 and WT-01 parts are still available brand new. Only thing that is rare, is a box-art or clear Wild Dagger body and complete set of decals (which this unit doesn't have). And after all, I can always go back and turn it into a Wild Dagger again, later.
