This wallet not using bip 39 is a big plus, not a negative, as seed phrases are too risky. It uses private keys that the user doesn't even know or see. Also, the card is brute force protected against wrench attacks and the fact that they will not share their secret recipe on how the inner workings of the card works doesn't mean that it is poison. I use this card and will never go back to seed phrases or hardware devices ever again. It is so easy to use. It's the future of self-storage...
The main problem with this is they only open source the app, not the actual chip in the card. So we don't know where that info is going or how anything in it works except for what they tell us, which could be a lie
you are VERY confused about what makes a wallet secure and what the ADULT responsibility of crypto self-custody means - and how important it is to be mature enough to be able to handle such a responsibility. you also might want to study up on why Satoshi Nakamoto [individual or team] created Bitcoin in the first place and what s/he/they meant re: true adult independence & sovereignty. because your comment shows you've missed a LOT about all of it. and you also show you don't at all understand why the Tangem wallet is actually LESS secure than one with a seed phrase. it's more simple ' but in this case "simple" means LESS SECURE. and being MORE SECURE is not for those who want or *need* to have what they think is a crypto experience be some ridiculous hybridization of classical, trad-fi banking & use of digital assets on a blockchain. you might as well be first in line to sign up for your government's CBDC plan. because you're not really focused on or interested in a genuine use of honest cryptocurrency practices..from any human or tech side of the equation, including your own, as your comment proves. this *relatively* new way of dealing with currency is not for the confused, the faint of heart or those who are lazy. but if you didn't understand Archer's explanation as to why that is, if you listened to everything he said, and actually believe what you wrote [& it seems like you do!] you will *not* easily comprehend the tenets of proper crypto security measures... unless you make a real effort and study up in order to at least give yourself a fair chance at a genuinely deep understanding of what Satoshi was offering humanity. and why. because as of right now, clearly you do not understand it. and probably a waste of time to ask but curious because what is it you don't understand about: 'not your keys, not your crypto??' also, you're VERY confused about what a "brute force" attack means re: wallets/crypto and what a "wrench attack" is. they are NOT one and the same. which yes, wrench attacks ARE brutal by the nature of what they are.. but that is NOT the same thing as a brute force attack re: cryptocurrency.🙄 and really, it's just so odd that you actually believe the Tangem wallet is safer than wallets that employ seed phrases. and why are you willing to trust strangers who OBSFUSCATE data re: their wallet chip and audits? why do you think that's safe in any way, shape or form? because you're not being careful and everything you commented proves you are PRIMED to be robbed of your crypto one way or another [if you have any]. so, you can wait for it to happen [again, if you have any]...or you could really make an effort to understand the *rationale* supporting proper cryptocurrency, self-custody security measures. which if you chose to use the Tangem wallet you would not be truly taking responsibility for whatever crypto is allocated to your ownership - on whatever blockchains are relevant to your holdings. & just smdh.😐
@@afrobian1 if you read this thread you'll know at least *some* of why the OP is 💯 % confused & wrong AND why you didn't make any improvement at all by moving your allocated blockchain assets to a Tangem wallet. you're actually in the same boat you were before and you don't even know why. and it's just astounding that so many of you have *no clue* about or understanding of what Archer said..Archer who's far more knowledgeable about the topic & security than the average crypto holder and definitely than the average subscriber to Cryptotips! it's just truly astounding that so many of you dismissed what he said! and scrolled down to find posts that support your confirmation bias instead. which shows your coins/tokens would be more secure if you do something you, clearly, never have and that is: to put in the time, energy & enough focus to *study* proper cryptocurrency security & its rationale. because if you don't? one day you will trust the wrong person, another questionable wallet or crypto platform..the wrong app..or email..and you will lose..most of your bags, if not all of them.
easy to say ONLY when you're in a country that respects human rights? which even the USA has habeus corpus 'laws.' see how much attitude you give airport security about it esp. after you land in a nation that uses actual soldiers to 'keep the peace.' the airport itself.
thanks, nice expecially the traveling tips :-) regarding wallets ...yes there are so many factors that apparently no single wallet cover them all. Not at least that I could find yet. Chears.
How did your wallet get hacked? did you use metamask and connect to it then authorize a crazy transaction or did you buy from amazon which could result in a supply chain attack? or did you just approve a corrupted transaction ID? I don't use my ledger much anymore have a much better wallet but am interested to know what happened.
Yup I accidentally exposed my seed phrase like a dumbass and since the ledger company got data breached the perpetrators had my email address and new where to focus lost most of the funds in my ledger device
@@bm549bh Thats not how this works. You exposed your phrase and that was the end of it. Learn how crypto works and stop blaming ledger for your incapability to self custody.
@@JohnGWalker The independent audit showed that the device securely generates a new random key each time it is set up. If that's true, there's no trust put into the company in terms of them stealing your key. The largest amount of trust, would be trusting that the hardware doesn't fail on you. The devices are expected to last 25 years, so there is a very low probability that all 3 cards fail around the same time
@@WoJackMan my concern is that companies fail. Their products disappear from the market as a result. More importantly, their support (apps) for their products evaporate.
I purchased 1 Pack 2 Tangem Cards. I followed precise the instruction and have set up my 2 Tangem cards. It worked. Next, I Factory Reset the cards by following the Tangem instruction. And I tried to set up both 2 Tangem cards and it did not work out. I was not able the second time to start from the beginning to set my 2 Tangem cards. I find the Tangem card is flaw. I am not going to use the Tangem cards. I have purchased 3 packs with 2 cards in each pack and I have lost $150 dollars purchase.
My access is denied, totally screwed, hate this wallet, I regret I bought it, nothing works as it should, how do I get access to my btc now? Anyone knows? Plz
Great job! Can you review Tangem's new iteration of their wallet please? Looks like they came out with a new iteration (like a v2 version) that looks a lot sleeker and doesn't scream crypto hardware wallet and are now offering different ways to create your passphrase. I have a ledger myself but looking to diversify and get myself a Tangem wallet next
which is why he said in the BEGINNING of the video that his name is, "Archer," who is a friend of Heidi & Toby. your 'joke' *might* have worked had he not made that very clear: #listening #comprehension #skills.
this was a review focusing on the Tangem wallet. but that would make a great topic for another vid..which would likely focus on what makes for a good crypto wallet overall, so not specific to Tangem being the terrible wallet that it is.
Ferrum network is one of those projects that just keeps on building no matter what the market conditions are like, when volume and eyes return to crypto, this will fly.
I agree the card advertizes what it is, however this could be esaily fixed, the fact it has no seed phrase could be argued as a benifit in 2 ways, 1, if some one finds your card, they still dont get access, 2 you cannot be tricked/fished, this closes 2 security doors many have lost their funds by of which other hardware wallets are open to, plus it's a lot faster to use therefore you will be more inclinded to store your funds safly offline.
It is also made in China and ships from Hong Kong, China where crypto is still illegal and where the Multichain Bridge CEO was recently arrested and all the Multichain Bridge assets were taken by the Chinese government.
False: This is there headquarters: Global Headquarters, Tangem AG Baarerstrasse 10, 6300 Zug, Switzerland And when they ship internationally they have a fulfllment center that goes THROUGH HOng Kong China, because China does a lot of internation shipping, FOR CHEAP. But, the cards originate in Swizterland, and tracking for your packaged, which they provide, proves this.
@@honaleri Stop spreading lies, if you read the customer reviews on Trustpilot Tangem themselves responded to user criticism about their orders shipping out from Hong Kong, China by saying "Regarding the product's origin, while our company is based and headquartered in Switzerland, our production factories are indeed located in China and Indonesia." so they do indeed PRODUCE AND SHIP from HONG KONG, CHINA... NOT SWIZTERLAND.
well, that's just it, the Tangem chip is proprietary and the "audit" they claimed happened, even if it did, they refused to give Archer proof that the current wallet chip is the same as the one supposedly audited. that is a *huge* red flag among all the other red flag. that said, any additional Tangem wallet card is what you, if a customer, would use for YOU to back up your first one with. because, as Archer learned & told us, it's not designed with the BIP39 protocol or any other seed phrase protocol. so it's not compatible with anything other than another Tangem wallet card and that's the exact kind of bs I *abhor* in a company, including a crypto wallet company. proprietary designs/specs that are 💯% inappropriate for an item. reminded me of when Apple first tried to make sure all of its music & video files were formatted in a way that made certain they were incompatible with the Sony Walkman or non-Apple software media players like Windows Media or even open source ones..thank the gods altruist developers constantly created media file converters so we could play any song or watch any video on whatever player we preferred. so Tangem, they're trying to hold customers hostage to their product only, making sure you buy at least 2! Ledger wallet flashbacks happened for me right away/from the early part of the review! everything he said made me more convinced Tangem's product and founders/owners cannot be trusted..which I ranted on about in my OP comment for this video.😐🧚🏾♀️
@bobdobolina4870 without proof I would say that's bs. If the private key was changed at every tap then the new key would have to be communicated to the backup cards and the transmission could be intercepted. I don't think these cards have that capability.
According to Tangem, the private key is generated when initially setting up the wallet with the app. If the wallet is reset, a new private key will be generated when the new wallet is initialized
If you are on the CryptoTips discord, no introduction is needed. Archer Bullseye is the admin and all of us on the discord know him well. Come join us!
The SHIB version does not have all the information of what it is. The front is just a SHIB logo. The back says $SHIB $LEASH $BONE and Powered by Tangem. More inconspicuous ;) They are still available.
So how do people with massive amounts of crypto actually store it? I have a hard time believing they're using regular off-the-shelf hardware wallets like the rest of us.
Personally I use a mix. If it’s staking I use a hardware wallet if possible like when I stake my Matic I turn it into MaticX and put that on my hardware wallet. Things that I move around or want quick access to I keep on a hot wallet.
No, you can't do that. But as long as you have two cards left you are totally fine. If you only one left, you need to transfer your funds to your addresses which come with the new cards.
The question about how to verify was loaded onto the card itself was never answered. That is a large amount of trust that you are putting into the card/tangem.
How did the Legder do in the hammer test? Wtf are you even doing, dude... why would you smash it with a hammer? Do you smash your credit card with a hammer, too? Your car keys? :)
Ha ha. So why doing these videos again? Anyway so you know I have a Tangem wallet (so I must have done some research) and have found it great so far. So why were you against against these cards again? Maybe with some evidence to prove my research was wrong.
If the company were to shut down, you could get the mobile device source code from the github and compile/install it yourself to allow you to still get to your crypto, but as I said, its definitely a downside!
