Awesome set, awesome review. In the realm of a $200 set with a slight analytical edge, I dig it. I thought it was the right balance of showing off its planar-ness but still sounding as good as other similarly priced sets regardless of driver. I think most of your nitpicks were lost in the positive imaging/stage/experience for me. It was great to see a planar really push forward and set a new bar which we haven't had since Timeless/S12.
Had to order one from audio46, will be on my hands next week. I think the S12 Pro is prob better value given the price gap and similar performance, reason I got the Heyday over the S12 is treble, the S12 graphs with a bit too much lower treble for my taste. S12 Pro can get insanely cheap on Ali, I missed the chance on getting one for 90 bucks with promo coupons, I'll be sure to grab an S12 during this year's 11.11 sale.
I've heard great things about this set, people saying this is probably the best planar on the market. On my radar, but don't have any monies for IEM shopping right now.
Need your advice please. Between the og timeless and heyday, which one has better clarity, "openness" (not veiled in any way), more soundstage, better imaging? regardless of the tuning
I had already ordered the original WUs and they came with a QC production error and I had to wait for replacements or I would have returned them and gotten these insted. Have you heard the Original to compare? I really want these style shells as the original shells are really thin and fragile.
The OG is warmer with more mid & sub bass and sound a bit "muddy" in comparison. (I have both) but they're great if your library is primarily bass oriented. I prefer the Heyday and don't think you could better them this side of the upper tribrid prices...always assuming this is your preferred tuning.
Did you try to stick a damper on venting hole? Did it give a better bass impact? Wondering if Zetian Wu Heyday has a good enough potential for Prometheus mod so the results would be even better than those of S12. My S12 has even better bass impact than the stock one. I am totally sold on Primetheus mod, it leaves my to want nothing. Please tell me that Zetian Wu Heyday is the king!
Sadly, my 'mods' and rebuilds on the S12 driver break all other planars on the market. But in terms of things you can just buy, the Heyday is one of if not the best. I enjoy it.
I love my set, but I’m still trying to find better ear tips for them as I’ve got different ear sizes (kinda like most people) but still can’t find anything that truly is that awesome sauce feeling
Eru and then maybe the Tancjim Tanya actually. That thing is awesome for metal. We need plenty of midbass for metal. Need those guitars to have a nice gutteral CHUNK going on.
Prometheus mod could work on them as well! At least changing inner damper to give them some meat in mids. I bet you are going to go for it! The main challenge would be open the shells without any damage to the visual side.
