I was a huge fan of mwalimu. Am rwandan by roots but born in uganda and we fled in 1976 to Kenya then to Tanzania. I spent my secondary school years in Arusha and Tanzania became my favourite country in east Africa.. when after 4 yrs Uganda got liberated with help of Mwalimu i reluctantly left for Higher Education back in Uganda but peace was short lived and in 1985 i moved to UK. I return periodically to East Africa in the 38 yrs but my safari is never complete till i have popped into TZ. I liked Magufuli too. Am not too sure about Mama though her intelligence and climb to power is admirable. Mwalimu was humorous and bright as a button! I miss his likes.

Absolutely nailed the divide and rule Western mantras, treating Mandela as though he were a paragon and making South Africa look as if it were entirely different and set apart from the rest of Africa. For this reason we see the South Africans at war with the Black Africans whom they view as foreign to "their country". So President Nyerere's words of advice, not heeded have come back to haunt Africa. Great mind. Great leader.
